Theresa May's Brexit plan just got demolished.

She'll win the confidence vote because the DUP will bail her out.

not if we 'gift' the six counties to the south, avoid all that border bollocks, set up customs at Liverpool and close the welsh and scottish borders.

DUP wouldnt bale her out when gaelic is the official language and statues of gerry adams are on every street corner.

Outstanding news which means if nothing extraordinary happens in the next 73 days, "no-deal" Brexit will automatically happen, which is exactly how the UK should independently leave the überstatist EU.

having handed northern ireland to southern ireland as a leaving gift and to avoid the border bollocks.

Wow...

UK Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan has been crushed by 432 votes to 202, a historic defeat

Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn has tabled a no confidence vote for Wednesday

Serious question for anyone from the U.K. Why can't the U.K just leave on their own terms. The EU does not have the power to enforce any decisions on the U.K. Other than Germany and France U.K economic and other powers drawf the EU

There is no consensus on any alternative to Theresa May's failed plan.

Some MPs want no Brexit; some want No Deal (A Hard Brexit); some want a revised offer from the EU (unlikely); some want a second referendum; some (a few) want a General Election now; some want to delay everything for a couple of years...

Unfortunately the numbers for any alternative are less than those who supported Theresa May's deal.

If there was a reasonable compromise possible? That compromise would have replaced the failed deal. The Members of Parliament are split too many ways.

The EU is Britain's major trading partner. If the UK leaves without a deal and relies on World Trade rules any imports from the EU into the UK would pay tariffs, any exports from the UK to the EU would pay tariffs, and many products are made in different countries only being put together in one.

The financial markets in London would be barred from trading in EU products. That would damage London and the EU because London is the major market for the EU.

Ireland would suffer more than any EU country, and much more than the UK. The Irish government's insistence on the Northern Ireland backstop has been a major factor in tonight's defeat - yet Ireland will pay a higher price for a No deal.

More likely to win because this time around no one has the balls to volunteer for the guaranteed political suicide that is being a Brexit PM.

I often wonder if the Brexit vote were retaken, if the results would change.

Time spent on the additional paperwork alone for freight crossing borders (under WTO rules, which would be the default for a Hard Brexit) alone could create shipping bottlenecks that would totally fuck over the UK's existing supply chains. Certainly, overnight delivery would cease to exist, at least for a while.

But no one really knows because no one's ever done something as monumentally stupid as a Hard Brexit before. Here's hoping for just some short term volatility.

Why is "no deal" better, when it leaves so many questions about post-exit Britain's trade and other relations with the EU unsettled?

Between the shutdown and Brexit, it feels as if the US and UK are in a horse race to fuck themselves over or something.

The biggest question here is, what happens to the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic? Since both were part of the EU up to now, they've grown accustomed to having a soft border, with free travel of people and goods across it. But now . . .

American revolutionaries' "Hard" exit from Britain was as about as politically great as "monumentally" gets. Not stupid at all, as it turned out, and a perfect example for other nations enslaved under collective authoritarianism today to emulate.

So England should go to war with the EU. Great idea.

Idiot.
