Immigration reform will cost us $6.3 trillion according to the Heritage foundation. Let's look at some of their assumptions they use to get to this brilliant conclusion:

1) 100% of undocumented immigrants will become US citizens whether they want to or not.

2) 100% of undocumented immigrants will receive government services for 50 years.

3) 0% of undocumented immigrants get any job training or increased job access that would increase their pay.

4) 0% of undocumented immigrants will get an education that would increase their pay.

5) Gaining legal status will not amount to a significant increase in pay, even though it's well-researched that legalization boosts pay significantly. Heritage then uses the assumption of virtually no bump in pay in their government assistance calculation. Specifically SS, Medicare, worker's comp, Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, EIC, housing, and SSI/SSDI are all caluculated with the assumption that legalization will lead to no bump in pay, opportunity, or education for even a single immigrant.

6) Heritage essentially assumes Obamacare is repealed and that immigrants who become citizens will not have increased health care access through employers or exchanges.

Patriot Math baby! It's only the headline that matters!

By whom?

Show us the research

We got time

We'll wait:rolleyes:

By a private research firm hired by the Dept of Labor.
Legalized workers earn more and move on to better jobs

Surveys conducted by Westat, Inc. for the U.S. Department of Labor found that the real hourly wages of immigrants who acquired legal status under IRCA’s general legalization program had increased an average of 15.1 percent by 1992—four to five years after legalization in 1987 or 1988. Men experienced an average 13.2 percent wage increase and women a 20.5 percent increase during that period. And economists Sherrie Kossoudji and Deborah Cobb-Clark found using the same survey data that 38.8 percent of Mexican men who received legal status under IRCA had moved on to higher-paying occupations by 1992. Its website states that the organization is "dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action".[2] The Center presents a liberal[3] viewpoint on economic issues. It has its headquarters in Washington, D.C.[4]

Its President and chief executive officer is Neera Tanden, who worked for the Obama and Clinton administrations and for Hillary Clinton’s campaigns.[5] Its first President and chief executive officer was John Podesta, who served as chief of staff to then U.S. President Bill Clinton. Podesta remains with the organization as chairman of the board. The Center for American Progress has a campus outreach group, Campus Progress, and a sister advocacy organization, the Center for American Progress Action Fund

The Center for American progress did their own research and came up with a 10.1 increase in pay. Independent analysis says 15.1%

respected BY WHOM?

study done in 1992:rolleyes:

And their study was done on the immediate results of Reagan's immigration reform when the data was still fresh. Do you think it would be more valid today to ask circa-1990 immigrants what their increase in pay was 20+ years ago?

what was done 20 yrs ago

is meaningless today

Heritage didn't do any research. They did Patriot Math in order to generate political opposition to immigration reform.

so far they have been 100% correct with ObamaCare for instance

PATRIOT MATH is good

OBAMA MATH is bad

Heritage's prediction on Obamacare was that it wouldn't exist in 2013 after being ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. According to Patriot Math that prediction was 100% accurate though.

Violence is not the answer. In any case, your bullet would not hit a vital organ.
