Tuesday Guard Steve Nash announced that he wouldn't be playing for Canada in the upcoming World Basketball Championships.

Friday Steve dropped 25 points and looks very dominant against China in a 94 to 66 Canada win.

So much for making any noise in Indiana.

Is this something to do with the Mavericks not wanting him too?

Well sort of. Basketball Canada was willing to pay the extra money for insurance like Germany did to get Dirk Nowitzki. (sp?) When it came right down to it though Nash had just finished playing a long season with the Mavs. He could have played and stared with Canada this month then play what is sure to be another long season with the Mavs... But next summer qualifying takes place for the summer olympics and that of course is more important.

Had he played in this tourny he may have been totaly burned out by next summer at a time Canada could use him the most.
