There Are Not Enuff Corners In The Lit House...

As a fairly new person here, I have to say that I am a little shocked by some of the immature threads that keep popping up daily here. I thought Lit was an adult BB ?

I see more maturity in some kids I know than some people here. There is enough hate and back biting already in the world. Do we really need to add to it here where we come to escape that ?

Some of the things being thrown about the BB about multiple user names, making private messages public, hurting other people by betraying a trust are reasons to be upset I agree. But once said, should'nt people let go of it and ignore the person they are upset with ?

It is getting to the point where I do not want to read some of my fav posters threads because somewhere in there people are throwing flaming sheep back and forth.

There are not enough corners in Lit for everyone to stand in for time out. Maybe taking a break like some old timers are doing is good medicine. When you get so involved in the BB that your reactions become childish and petty, maybe it is time to take a break from the BB.

In a perfect world everyone would get along. I know this world is not perfect. But ..... it is basically a pretty good world we live in, and the people here are what help make it that way.

Well, I've had my little rant. I now return you back to regular Lit broadcasting.

I'm not sure what was the straw that broke the camel's back for you to post this thread, since it is the first one I opened at breakfast this morning. If there is another flame thread, I haven't seen it yet.

Here's another solution for you. I didn't care for the goofy content of the board last night so, rather than complain, I turned off my computer early and went to do something else that I'd enjoy more. A "mini-break," if you will. It worked well- I got to talk to a friend and then got a good night's sleep.

Don't sweat it. The board goes in cycles (Cym, Laurel, help me out here!)... There's a post somewhere that says it so beautifully.

I haven't been here long myself but it definitely cycles. It was all sweetness and light over Christmas, then it got a bit snippy again... most everyone kisses and makes up in the end.

Heh !!! I LOVE reading JuicyLips postings. I don't always post at them, but I do like to read what she has to say. Thanks for the info about cycling. Maybe I should just check in at Holiday time ?!?

Sometimes i think immaturity is a byproduct of an ever-faster paced technological society, one that demands higher and higher levels of specificity and expertise from all of us in our daliy lives while allowing us less and less time to play and scream and act out our fears and angst in any socially-approved manner. Therefore, we do that acting out where and when we can - in private relationships, mostly, board relationships among them.

I think that at lot to do with it, is a lack of manners.

Good manners cost nothing and when applied properly can avoid some of the, shall we say pointed, situations that have arisen on the board recently.

A little more consideration for our fellow man and woman goes a long way to avoiding conflict.

I know we all need to vent at times, but we can still do that in the quiet of our own homes, with only four walls to hear the invective.

Once vented we can all get back to what we want to do most, or have done to us!

I agree, cym and bluespoke have great points. There is one problem though. As i just discovered on another thread, there are still members here who discount any need for manners or courtesy because "this is just a porn board." This is not by any means the prevalent attitude here, but there is enough of it that it brings a minority who spoil the atmosphere for everyone. Luckily, they usually aren't around long enough to spoil it longer than a week or so at most.
