What? Steal radios and pillows from a hotel? What are they teaching these kids? You steal TOWELS from a hotel. The kids don't know nothin' nohow. Comment?

Ole Miss puts 20 players on probation for twice stealing items from hotels

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -- Mississippi put 20 players on probation Sunday after they twice stole items from hotels.

A news release said the players have paid for the items, which included radios and pillows. Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron said in the release that the players will be on probation indefinitely.

Officials said the items stolen cost between $15 and $40.

"Any actions similar to this will result in more severe penalties which may include dismissal from the team," Orgeron said in the release.

The action comes a day after the Rebels lost 41-24 to No. 1 LSU in Oxford. It appears the players will be allowed to play Friday at Mississippi State in the final game of the season.

could be worse, one of our teams stole the hotel sign. They thought it through so much that they strapped it to the top of the bus.

What's interesting to me is that they "twice stole items from hotels."

What, no one cared the first time? :p

Jeez. They're kids. They didn't seriously vandalize the place (or am I wrong?). Let them pay a fine and play. Smack 'em on the ass if you have to.

My take is that it is a failure of the school. You steal TOWELS from a hotel, not radios or pillows. There is a right way to do things and a wrong way. The students did it the wrong way. The educational system is going to hell in a handbasket.

Hey R, my school didn't have that class either, can you please put me straight? Is it the hand towels or the bath towels, or doesn't it matter which?

PS What about the bath mats? They're towelling after all...

ETS... I stayed in a hotel in China that had condoms in the bathroom (same principle as the mini-bar I think) - was I right not to touch them?

Sets! We are talking about sets here! If a towel is worth stealing, the SET is worth stealing.

As to the condoms. A condom is not a towel and therefore not a proper part of this discussion.

Funny this thread should happen along...I was putting some things away upstairs, one of which was the beach bag, which we had taken down to the Florida Lit-together. There seemed to be towels in it, and I thought, that's odd, we haven't been swimming or to the beach since we got back...and pulled out two white towels with blue stripes on them.

"Oh, dear!" I called down to my husband. "We've stolen towels!" Normally, the only things I run off with out of hotels is the soap and shampoo and stuff they put out; I figure that's what they're there for.

These were the poolside towels--the hotel kept a big box of them down where the pool was, to discourage people from taking the room towels to the pool. I figure there's two things I can do--I can send them back, or I can just keep them as souvenirs of a very nice weekend.

I do not understand why anybody would steal the radios out of a hotel room. They are really cheapass, minimal clock radios--nice to have around, but no better than what's at home.

Thanks, teacher. Now I know, it's so much a shame that I've been cut out of the freebie in Liverpool.

Shit!

Thanks all the same.

Damn it! And I didn't get anything out of the Lit-together . . . .

Oh, wait. Yeah, I did.

Alas, the young are not being taught core values.
