Maybe.

"The percentage of smokers is declining across the developed world, and the declines are more or less in a straight line in most markets. If these trends continue, then by 2050, many important tobacco markets will have gone to zero smoking," Citigroup said.

The table below illustrates the year the trend hits zero in each of the following nations:

What i don't get is why it will take almost two centuries longer for Greece, and two and a half centuries longer for Germany than most others

Because, of the current numbers of smokers in those countries and the take-up/give up rate. This is also fuelled by smoking being more socially acceptable in those countries.

I’ve given up a 100 times, the last time this Christmas. Where’s me fags. Oh and I’m in Germany.

Woof!

What she took up skiing?

Checking it out. Got some nicotret chewing gum. Best I can do is about 4 days so far.

Woof!
You tried the nicotine patches? I loved those! Like being on acid the dreams you had.

I stopped by spending the dosh I saved on exotic undies.

Yep, tried those, I come out in a nasty rash. The gum kinda works, but after 3 days the longing to have that “inhale” becomes great.

May-be I'll try your plan "B" and send them to ya.

Woof!

That is supposed to be pretty good. I thought 3 days was a key point. If you could get to there your body was staring to clear toxins.

I think that's the problem, the toxins are getting low and my body/mind start to go fucking nuts.

Ah, right. I see what you mean. Maybe knowledge is power. They are running a load of TV ads here about getting help from your Doctor, saying that you are more likely to succeed with the support. Maybe your doc could suggest a strategy to push it beyond four days.

I quit, so therefore everyone else in the entire world must quit also. NOW!

I quit a couple of days after I had my gall bladder removed, about a week after my grandson was born.
I wasn't enjoying the cigarettes, nor much of anything else, so the first 4-5 days weren't so hard. After that it was just a matter of putting on the patch and deciding I wasn't going to smoke that day.
I wonder how this will go when I run out of patches. Right now I only have fleeting thoughts about smoking. Other times I tried to quit it was a constant craving.
