I just had to get this one out of my mind as it is festering

A male actually sent a message saying my story was despicable and that if his woman ever did that he'd kill her.....lucky for us women he said he was single.

this single feedback made me add a disclaimer that some of my stories are true and some are not, which has greatly increased the numbers of people asking whether a certain story is true or volunteering to repeat the experience.

Enough ranting for today

Just had to share

The most pointless thread, ever.

You should be ashamed of yourself!

fine an intelligent question

has anyone else recieved feedback that served no purpose or a deliberately negative one?

:rose:

You're allowed to rant. We all get bad feedback from time to time. I usually get the weird kind that tells me that want to be my dom or ask me if I have a web camera, but yours sounds way more interesting. You just have to try and think that you touched somebody enough that they sent you feedback, regardless of whether it was a positive or negative experience for them.

Chin up, ignore the ignorant bastard/bitch who obviously couldn't recognise talent if it bit them of the ass :D, and keep writing!

What was the category? Was it "Loving Wives"? The readers in that category seem to get off on reading stories and then sending poison pen letters to the author, especially if the author's female. It's the cyber version of jumping out in front of you and showing you their cock.

There are also readers who just flame authors for their own amusment. You can usually tell when you're being randomly flamed, though, because the comments have nothing to do with the story. Things like "You suck you fucking asshole! Your story was a complete pile of crap..." etc.

In any case, it's just a flame. The same as an obscene phone call, and it means about as much.

I agree lots of pointless feedback

I have gotten feedback lambasting me for the subject matter of the story when it was posted in the correct category. If you don't like that sort of thing why read it? Also, it seems some folks will give really bad ratings to stories based on not liking the subject or action in a story with no regard to the quality of the writing. Or even weirder the written feedback is glowing but the give you a 3 or 4. Ok now I am ranting...the main point is I was commiserating with the originator of the thread. The answer is yes we probably all get pointless feedback. Oh if anyone cares I write under the name FantasyHunter. A long boring story as to why I have two different names. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

From time to time I have gotten a PC saying something like: "Excellent story, one of the best" but rated a three, which shows on the thermometer as 50%. I think the problem is that "three" is the default rating and, unless the person leaving the PC clicks onto something else, that's what he will vote. I can understand that but sometimes I get a rave like that and it is rated a four. I can't help wondering why, if a story is "Excellent" and "one of the best", what it would take for this person to vote a five.

I think it would be better to have the default rating as no vote. That way, the vote would actually express the person's opinion.

Most of my stories are about the adventures of a man named George Boxlicker. One person said he or she liked the story but complained about the character's name.

One time I got a PC from this guy saying he liked to cut women and watch them bleed. I'm not sure what that was supposed to mean. Should I be cut because my story was bad? Did I turn him on and now he had blood lust? Was it just a random confession? Was I supposed to write back with, "Oooh, yeah, cut me baby, I like it,"?

As it's been said, some of it is just like a prank call. You just ignore it and move on.

Geez, that's horrible.

The most pointless feedback I got was from someone insisting that i post a pic on my profile.

Hah! That I die or that you be the one to do it?

Well gee, if I'd known it was you I might've considered it. ;)

I had a picture on my profile, I was changing it and then it vanished. People who ask for pictures should be given the most disturbing picture you can find, though. Or send something that is obviously not you, like a picture of Kiera Knightley or something.

I'm amused when people ask if I have any more pictures. "Oh sure... here's one where I show my pussy!" And I send them a picture with my cat. :D

Mr. . . ahem . . . Boxlicker, I didn't think the thermometer rating counted toward your vote average, isn't that just an indicator that goes next to the public comment? I could be wrong though, I'm just a newbie.

I think you should change your name to Boxerlicker. :D

If you vote a five and write a PC and then look at the PC, the thermo will show as 100%. If you leave a PC and vote a 1, it will show as 0%, etc. If you vote and then on another day write a PC, I believe the original vote will count but the vote with the PC won't but it will show. If you vote only once and leave a PC, the vote will be what the thrmo says.

I call myself boxlicker because I like to eat pussy and so does the character. He eats at least one pussy at least once in almost every story about him. The 101 is because I started on another site and "Boxlicker" is a common name.

That's really good to know, thanks. I fortunately haven't left any 50% votes by accident. But I just voted twice by accident, what do that do?

So there are another 100 Boxlickers running around? A frightening thought!

Negative feedback

Negative feedback does leave one wondering if their story was genuinely poorly written or if you are the recipient of malicious intent. I write a lot of content about Interracial D/s. Quite a few negative comments I get are from white people that are offended that I would dare depict Black people in dominant positions. That's to be expected and I'm not shocked nor dismayed by those sorts of responses. My latest contribution to Literotica is a sequel . . . a much requested sequel nonetheless. The response has been heavy out the starting gate but the voting is abysmal. Leaves me questioning the quality of my story or whether the content has pushed someone's buttons and made them uncomfortable.

My first public comment about the story said the story was crap and typical. I know that's far from the truth, but I'm just wondering if the racial element makes me more susceptible to harsh critique than other writers.

I just got feedback that is bizzarre

it included a link, which i followed out of curiousity and led to a

"Are you going to heaven?" questionarre

This made me wonder what is going on....using the feedback as a spam tool is far more evil than writing literotica....

what does everyone think?

Bad feedback? Of course. I take it as a kind of compliment that my words can provoke such storng emotion.

Of course I'd rather be told (by a woman) that my story made her so hot, she stopped in the middle to get pregnant. <g>

Seriously, I get a lot of negative feedback from guys (never women) who do not understand that many of my stories are parodies of other story classes.

Hi cat LOL

I once had some ass message me abusing me for defending a story, quoting from the post page, 'Love it? Hate it?....'

Well bite my ass!! Isn't that what I was doing? Expressing myself?

There are some real zeros out there. They seem to magnetize together and think it's actually funny to degrade someone's work.

I feel sorry for a few of the writers who have become victims of late. Namely the author of Uncle Ben Has taken my wife, or what ever it was called... and Mum, I want to fuck you... Me, my wife and my boss...

I know I got their titles wrong, but still...

I think I get my point across. They wrote those stories, proud of their accomplishment, and didn't deserve their stories to be victimized.

Love it? Hate it? If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

My two bobs.

I got a lot a feedback, nevative, for including one cheeting scene in an otherwise romantic story. I agree that cheeting is not "romantic," but in the context of the story it was unintended and included just to show how uncontrolably horny the wife was.

I thought that negative feedback was rather unfair.

It woud be like me voting low on a story because the author violated one of my private squick, like smoking or anal sex.
