Name: Miranda (Fathom)
Age: 27
Height: 5’8”
Hair: Dark Violet
Eyes: Green

Personality:
Cruel, cunning, and most importantly unpredictable. There’s no telling what mood she’ll be in given any particular time of day.

Bio:
Miranda was born into a world stricken by poverty and despair. Abandoned at an early age by her father, Miranda and her mother moved from village to village, seeking food and shelter from whomever was willing to offer it. Yet for all their efforts no one seemed willing to help. Miranda, at first confused and afraid of their situation, began harboring bitter resentment towards the villagers, not immediately recognizing that they too were suffering.

But in her weakened state, all she knew was that they refused to help her and her mother.

Miranda and her mother wandered around for a few more years. On her tenth birthday, however, Miranda’s mother passed away from a combination of sickness and depression. Miranda cried night and day, and while she cried rain fell heavily upon the world. She didn’t know it then, but a terrible power began to manifest inside her, slowly twisting her innocent feelings and replacing them with anger and betrayel.

Miranda's situation only grew worse. She was taken off the streets by a wealthy nobleman, and if she had any thoughts of living a better life, they were soon squashed. She was beaten and abused, used as a petty servant for his amusement. At some point during her captivity, Miranda discovered that she could use magic. Though inexperienced at first, she began to secretly practice her spells, finding them delightful and extremely useful in performing her tasks. And each time she felt her anger swelling, Miranda found that her spells became increasingly more powerful and destructive.

Upon her eighteenth birthday, Miranda rebelled against her master and his house, leaving nothing but a pile of smoldering ashes where the proud and noble estate once stood. She stood there and watched as the flames consumed the mansion, and she smiled upon hearing all the death cries that came from within.

From that point forward, Miranda has acted on her own, sewing destruction wherever she can. At one point she wandered without a purpose, but she has recently learned of a powerful artifact known as the Staff of Faith. It supposedly imbues the owner with powerful Arcane abilities. Though she feels as if no one is powerful enough to challege her, Miranda wouldn't mind some added insurance. From what little she has gathered thus far, she has learned it lies in some dark tomb at the base of a cathedral.

This is an adventure/fantasy thread.

If you are interested in role playing please send me a PM with your character. Do not post unless you are approved

Basically my character will be moving from one town to the other, killing whomever stands in her way. I am looking for a small band of adventurers that will attempt to put an end to her evil ways as she tries to recover the fabled Staff of Faith.

OOC: Figured I'd provide a little map that I cooked up that gives a better visual of where the story currently takes place. I have more drawn up, but I'll add those later when the story moves a bit further down the road. The way I see it, the adventurers can start out in any of the cities described above. I'll do some NPC'ing to get everyone together, and then the action can really start. I'm also open to ideas/suggestions, so feel free to send me a PM with your thoughts.

Toien
Home to the King Trois IV, Seldin is a thriving city that is connected to the outlying villages via the Old North Road, and it was rebuilt after its initial destruction during the War of Souls. Its fortified walls stand much taller than in days past, and the only entrance into the city is through a tall pallisade gate that faces the road.

The road leading west ends at the port city if Isis, and to the east is the ruined city of Medion, destroyed during the war.

Southwest of Seldin is a tomb dedicated to High Priestess Selia, a courageous and devout woman that died during the War of Souls nearly five hundred years ago. She was the original owner of the Staff of Faith, but it was said to have been either lost or destroyed. It was thought to have been buried here, but extensive searches have produced nothing.

Further south lies the Stone Tower, held and maintained by the Royal Knights of Seldin. On the other side of the mountains lies the Forest of Illusions, an enchanted forest that keeps most people from reaching its inner sanctum, Clerin's Tower. Clerin is a somewhat powerful mage that acts as an advisor to King Trois.

The tiny village of Grenoble lies just off the road, acting as a resting place for weary travelers. They have small shops that sell quality armor and weapons, and there is even a small shop that specializes in potions and minor power stones. Further down the road splits, leading Southwest towards the commercial city of Greenfield, and Southeast towards Ladesa.

Adam

Name: Adam (male)
Age: 30's
Height: 5'6"
Bald and possessed of a pair of deep green eyes
Build: Whip-thin and wiry.

Personality:
A tad cynical, Adam is a businessman at heart and only gets presonally involved in things which seem to be 'risky enough' to earn a nice profit, but which will also be a challenge.
Although he is not a cold-blooded killer or an assassin, he is very self-serving and his kind smile hides a cruel demeanour; he is not above torture or killing if it is unavoidable, or if it is in his interests to do so.

History:
Born into a family which was part of a large travelling circus, Adam soon demonstrated an aptitude for athletics and acrobatics and was trained as part of the high-wire act.
(His mother was a trick-rider of horses and his father is unknown, although she married a beast-tamer soon after Adam's birth to try to provide them both with a with a secure future).

Although skilled, Adam never seemed to reach his full potential as a performer and his step-father turned to ways of researching magical potions and ointments as a means to support his son's talents (no-one knows that part of the circus was an illegal magical coven using the circus as a front for their activities and to stay one step ahead of the authorities).

The circus proved to be so successful that it was able to maintain a small permanent act in Seldin.
Due to his childhood links, Adam eventually fell in with the magicians in the circus' coven and began to learn about spells...lacking the physical presence and constitution for battle-magics, his inquisitive mind lent itself more to focus upon illusions and 'tricks-of-the-mind'.
With his interest piqued by stoeries of valuable mundane and magical items, Adam oput his skills to good use, moving up the ranks of a thieves' guild in Isis over the last decade and having
been it's leader for the last 2 years.
He has built up a smuggling enterprise, as well as a legitimate trading business, boityh of which are run by his henchmen and he is rarely seen in public....when he is, it is always as an alter-ego/disguise.
Although he is successful, Adam is always careful to limit the scope of his criminal activities, so his operation isn't really big enough for law enforcement officers to crack down on.
He uses his variety of disguises and aliases in his dealings with friendly and rival thieves and also in public.

However, his role has meant that he has had to take more of a back seat rather than actively using his skills all the time. Adam is now becoming restless for a chance to put his abilities to a serious test and rumours about the Staff of Faith seem to be an ideal opportunity...

My Character

Name: Genjou Willhelm
Height: 6' 9''
Weight: 304 lbs
Appearance:Large and fierce, his face scarred and butchered by those who want him dead. Several teeth are missing from his mouth, and those that remain are chipped and jagged. He is built like a mountain, his body covered in several burn marks. One eye is covered with a crude black leather patch, the other is filled with remorse and sorrow.

Bio: Genjou was born of a hill giant father and a human mother, making him an outcast to both. Seeing as he would be killed by his giant brethren his parents opted to let him live with his mother in a village close to a hill giant settlement. Sadly, the villagers saw him as an abomination and his mother as the women who brought the wretched curse upon their village. Late one night a mob of villagers banded together and burned Genjou's hut to the ground with them still inside, his mother burned to death horribly...Genjou, however was able to make it out, put out the flames that covered his body, and as he turned to face the mob that killed his mother, they began throwing stones at his head. Genjou, looked at the charred remains of his mother and began to weep, but as he stared a particularly sharp rock whizzed through the air and took out his left eye. Genjou was thrust into a state of uncontrolled anger and proceeded to twist and crush, and mangle those who had done him harm, their weapons proved useless and when all the screams had been silenced Genjou fell to his knees...he was alone. As the sun gleamed over the nearest trees, he grabbed what coins he could from the bodies around him, threw some rags over himself, and set off for the nearest city, ladesa.
