Okay, so I want to do an SRP based off of Ancient Greece. There's a couple Rome ones that have been floating around, and a couple fantasy, but I think it would be awesome to do one with all the Greek gods, legendary monsters, heroes, heroines, etc.

Anyone else interested? We'd be disregarding all time lines as far as famous human lives go, so Heracles (Hercules) could live alongside Odysseus, Perseus, etc. And you could be whatever you wanted: Human, Minotaur, God, Goddess, Monster, Nymph, etc.

http://www.hol.gr/greece/olymp.htm
That's a list of the twelve main gods. I want to be Hermes. If you click on BACK at the bottom of that page, there will be a link to "Other Gods and Demigods." Those are just for your information...

As far as heroes go, there are a ton. And feel free to be anyone, not just premade characters. And if you want to be someone pre-made, you don't have to be Jason, or Perseus, or someone like that. There's Helen of Troy, Pandora, etc. There are SO many people one could be. And you can be a Spartan, if you just watched 300 and are obsessed.

In ancient Greece, Gods did Gods, Gods did Humans, Gods on occasion did Monsters. Anyone can pretty much do anything they want. I was also planning on introducing a war storyline to make this a bit more of an RP than one giant thread of cybersex.

Any Comments/Opinions/Criticisms/Requests to Joins?

Taken:
Hermes - Blueside
Artemis - Caela
Hephaestus - The_Gladiator
Andromeda - la_petit_morte (???)
A Spartan - Gagonthis
Hera - Lady_Mornington (???)
Hades - Mhorashty
Dionysus - Twist_of_Fate

apollo, please.
keep me informed as to what the storyline is and how I could fit in.

Mayhaps a giant power struggle between two factions of gods, which causes the humans to go to war against each other?

Count me in! I love the idea and will edit this with a claim for a character after I take the time to look into them. Though I am sorely tempted to pickAndromeda. I need to look at some others before really deciding.

on second thought, if someone desires to play afrodite I might play hephaestus
although I have always loved apollo.

*Edit: I decided I wanted to play hephaestus, final answer...I think.

I did love 300 and now have a little mini obsession with the Spartans, would love a chance to try to RP one, but don't see how it could fit in well if all the other characters are gods

Andromeda isn't a god. Flash back to Clash of the Titans, though they took liberties with that story. She's a human at the mercy of Gods. But who wasn't at that time right?

Still my point remains, how will it work with characters playing gods if others would like to just be mortals?

how do you think half the gods came about?
gods slept with mortals, lol

Right but what keeps immortal A from just stepping on my mortal B?

This could be interesting. I'd like to play Athena.

I agree with you totally I think it should be wholey either or, I was just playing devils advocate/being a smart ass
oh wait should that be Haties' advocate?
lol
sorry
couldn't resist

and who's to say My imortal A won't force yourmortal B to have sex, just by snapping his/her fingers?

Depending on adherence to the myths as such *eg not too of taking liberties with the facts I might volunteer my services. Hera - who else*

No disrespect but what is the fun of a thread like this if you adhere strictly to stories that are already written?

Good question...I guess I phrased myself somewhat fussy there. What I meant is that the charachters should adhere to the description offered by the myths. To add one's own take on it is fine but to give them totally different traits etc would lessen the experience in my opinion

Ahhhhh, gotcha. I thought you meant adhering to the myths themselves. I personally like the gods personalities as they already are but I have to say that at least a few changes are likely. After all Artemis and Athena are considered "virgin" goddesses by greek mythology and with this being an SRP board....

I suppose that a bit of artistic licence is acceptable. I do however find it hard to reconcile myself with srp:s set in a historical or mythological setting that don't even have the intention of adhering to the actual history. I have yet to participate in a mythological one and I feel that it's up to every writer to make sure that it doesn't become something out of Xena Warrior Princess or something equally daft.

(As for Artemis and Athena I have to second your motion C.)

I agree that adherence to the gods personality is esential, this means Hephaestus cannot suddenly become as beautiful as apollo... etc.

Hades?

This all sounds interesting enough. If there is room for one more I'd like to don the cold, greedy demeanor of Hades, lord of the underworld. I do realize that Hades didn't often leave his domain and may end up taking up the mantle of a Priest of Hades as well if that's all right. But mainly I'd like to play Hades.

-=Mhorashty=-
PS: Time to brush up on my mythology.

That's fine. You can go ahead and post any time, I just delivered a bunch of thread to Hades (the place,) actually.

So far there are no conflicts, I'm letting it remain open. Everyone is who they are signed up for, and I'm not going to limit it at this point.

I'd be interested in creating a character as well, although I don't have anything in mind at the moment. I'll brainstorm for a bit and get back to you if that's alright?

Unless anyone has any suggestions. =)

Anything is fine with me! Although, we do need an Aphrodite at some point.
