The Wild, Wild West

An Interactive Role Play
&
"Table Top"-Style Dice-driven Game
All In One

New Players Always Welcome.
PM to be accepted.
Do NOT express your interest here.
Thank You.

Introduction: "The Wild, Wild West" -- hereafter often simply called WWW -- is a creative, interactive role play and a table top style, dice-driven game all in one. Players can create and write characters common to the game's time period and locale, an 1880s Texas town called Enchanted Springs.

(A note about historical accuracy: I am trying (and, hopefully, you will try) to create a historically realistic story. There will be mistakes made, I'm sure. When they are, I -- as host -- will make a decision upon whether those errors need to be corrected. A balance must be found between enjoying ourselves and having a good time.)

About Me: You may look at my post count and think Newbie. In reality, this ID was created specifically for WWW, as were the Yahoo Mail and Tumblr photo sharing accounts that go with it. This is to enable me to keep separate my regular SRP activities and WWW, which have nothing to do with one another.

The Town of Enchanted Springs: I have located a series of pictures that will represent our WWW location. Once I have them uploaded to Tumblr, I will link them as appropriate to give a real feel for our location. There will also be an overhead map of Enchanted Springs to add to that feel of reality in our little fiction.

Characters: You can create and write any character you want, but I want to give a little advice:
  • We can't all be the Marshall or the murderous gunslinger.
  • Undertakers and stable boys are just as important to the story as card players and cattle barons.
  • And regardless of whether you character is that grave digger, poop scooper, and poker cheat, opportunities to play an important part in the game will arise.

Profile Pages: Each writer who joins will be PM'd a Profile Sheet to complete and PM back to me. Do not post your Profile Sheets ... any where! Because I need to be able to update Profile Sheets on a constant basis, I will post your profiles. If you think this means you do not have control over your profile ... you're right. I have control over it. This is not my first rodeo, and I have learned that if I leave updating profiles to the individual writers, more often than not it doesn't get done.

Role Play and Game Threads: This thread will serve as our Game Thread. In it:
  • Current Conditions (date, season, town status, activities, etc.) will be posted here for all to see.
  • Role play situations that involve most or all players will be posted here.
  • And opportunities -- call them adventures if you wish -- that present themselves to characters will be posted here.
What will not be posted here are lengthy role play interactions between pairs (or small groups) of characters. When two (or a few) characters -- short of the majority of all -- get involved in a gun fight, a sex scene, a card game, a personal dialogue, etc., those interactions will be written/role played in either a PM, which can later be posted here in the appropriate time line location; or can be written in a separate thread, which can later be linked here in the appropriate time line. (It sounds confusing, but it is not.)

I came here from a role play site that had what were called "Communities". These communities[*]

(More to come. I'm adding to this a bit at a time while I perform other tasks about the house.)

Enchanted Springs, Texas

Our RP takes place in the fictitious town of Enchanted Springs (ES), which is inspired by the actual location of Enchanted Springs Ranch, Texas:
  • Google Map link to Enchanted Springs Ranch.
  • I have an image gallery of ES's buildings and other items of interest, which I will begin uploading to this OOC soon. The images are for the purpose of adding a little reality to our fiction. You are not on vacation, so don't feel obligated to refer to the maps and/or pictures every time you move your character about. These are simply here to give you a little more if you want it.
  • In addition to the Google map, I will be creating a map (likely in Paint) that will indicate the locations of all of the buildings and the POVs of the various images.
  • More to come.
