Did a little reading last week about gay and lesbian relationships in the old west and got a few ideas. Feel free to share your own.
1. School Teacher is well loved by her frontier town...maybe a bit too much. The men folk will about tear their hair out to get a piece of the gorgeous woman who has kept her civilized charms but she always politely declines. Course, while the men are out busting cows and breaking in horses, the teacher is paying their wives a visit.
2. A town puts out ads wanting wives but when the wives arrive they find their husbands, while nice and hardworking still spend a lot of time with their male friends...seems life on the frontier has made some lasting man love. Of course, it's not all one sided and some of the men and women find themselves with multiple husbands and wives.
3. The local church isn't a huge fan of the town brothel but can't do much since it's a big moneymaker. In an effort to make some peace, the pastor and his wife decide to meet with the owner and see about getting on friendly terms in hopes of convincing the women to lead better lives without condemning them outright. As soon as they head in though, they are given menus and told that they can get a couple's discount but it will cut down on the girls they can pick from.
As an aside, if you get the chance, look up an old west brothel menu. They are hilariously blunt.
Flabbergasted, the pastor and his wife just stand there reading the menu until the madame comes out and greets them. She apologizes and they have their chat, though the pastor and his wife soon start asking about what some of the services mean.
Soon, pastor is giving sermons on Sunday and he and his wife are on their knees every spare chance they can get.
4. A miner strikes it rich and is about to head east. Before they go they decide to stay at a small hotel. The hotel owner, wanting to get as much money as possible, sends their wife to convince the miner to blow it all gambling or on drinks, and to use whatever is necessary to get the miner to part with their gains.
5. A woman gets separated from her wagon train and gets lost in the wilderness, where she is found by a beautiful squaw (will update once I find the name of the tribe that practiced this). The squaw seems entranced by her and takes her back to her tribe. Luckily, a couple of them know English and are willing to guide her back, though they only agree after the squaw speaks up for her.
The woman relaxes with the squaw and gives her a few gifts from her saddlebag. They kiss, which the woman is used to doing whenever she would lie with another woman for comfort. They even caress and bathe together and dance at a celebration that night. The woman is surprised by how the tribe is so nonchalant about how intimate they are being and even more when she and the squaw tie a rope figure together. They then go to the squaw's tent and have sex. It's the woman's first time going all the way but she loves the experience.
The next morning though, she finds out the full signicance of the ceremony. She and the squaw are now wives and the rope figure is their baby (tribe is big on fertility so if two women want to get married they make a rope baby to symbolize the child). While shocked, the woman is put at ease when she's told she still will be going back to her wagon train.
But her new wife is coming with her...
