The White Wolf Pact (spake759 & Rayne_Clowd)

There was a beautiful valley that was part of the western North Carolina mountains, it was nestled deep in the mountains well off the Appalachian trail. This valley had become nationally known thanks to several members of the national news media had been making a major story out of a man whom chose not to sell a large area of property in the mountains of western North Carolina that had been in his family since 1836. Property that for the most part was still undeveloped and untouched by human hands. For generations the Spaight family had cared for and tended the acres and acres of the beautiful valley that was surrounded and protected by what had become officially known as Spaight's Mountain.

But the locals called it Wolf Mountain, because it was the home of a pack of beautiful wolves that the Spaight family had cared for ever since they came into possession of the land when they had purchased it from the State of North Carolina. Something that had caused a minor controversy at the time, because many felt that then-Governor Richard Dobbs Spaight Jr. had used his position to enrich his brother, and was felt by many to have been instrumental in his failure to win re-election. But despite this, the Spaight family had never abused or exploited the land under their stewardship. Even after the American Civil War and the Reconstruction Period that followed it, the Spaight family was able to retain the valley and its surrounding mountain. The areas where gold and silver had been mined was far away from the valley, and the Spaight family had used that wealth to fund their many endeavours and investments that had allowed them to keep the it untouched and protect the wildlife that dwelled there.

But as times changed, and not only developers turned their eyes to Wolf Mountain and the quiet secluded valley that it protected. But so did groups claiming to be acting in the best interests of the environment… Such as the Sierra Club and local chapters of Greenpeace whom were able to get celebrities and celebutants get involved in trying to convince the Government to seize the property and turn it into a protected federal wildlife refuge. Even despite the fact the agreements between the Spaight family and the State of North Carolina stated that the valley was the property of the family unto perpetuity unless the family itself sold it of their own free will. The wording of the bill of sale excluded it form such tricks to force the sale such as 'Eminent Domain'.

And the fact that the old gold and silver mines had financed a trust that would protect and pay the taxes that the state and federal government would levy had ensured that they could never become a burden that would force the sale. Thus attempts by both environmentalist groups and private developers to force the Spaight family's hands had been stymied.

Ethan Allen Spaight inherited the Wolf Mountain and trust after the death of his parents. Prompting him to retire after twenty years from the US Army, and moving to beautiful log house he had originally built in the valley for him to retire after a thirty year career in the US Army Special Operations Command. It was two stories and had an extensive underground basement that he had made sure would have everything he would ever need to be self-sufficient if the need come. Over the past ten years he had installed both solar power panels and wind turbine generators to provide electrical power, and a satellite for television and a telephone service as soon as he could when the technology became affordable. It was something neither he nor his family had ever thought possible, having all of the comforts of civilization without any of the hazels.

Ethan was a tall man, with black hair and hazel eyes. His broad shoulders and narrow waist came from a lifetime of military service on top of his childhood on Wolf Mountain with his grandfather. Ethan was a man with kind eyes that animals and children just took a natural liking towards, there was something they could just sense about him. But he was also someone who had the worse luck when it came to finding love. To say that each of the three relationships he had been involved in over the past ten years had ended badly would be an understatement. He had found himself in abusive relationships where the women would use him up and throw him away as soon as they realized that he did not have control over the family trust. And that the trust was dedicated to the care and upkeep of the mountain and its valley.

Thus he had chosen to move into valley itself, to the little sanctuary that he had built for in hopes of retiring to with a wife and children. But now, Ethan Spaight had been forced to advance his plans due to the unexpected death of his parents and sister in an automobile accident when their car went over the side of the mountain under mysterious circumstances.

Ethan had grown up hearing the family legends concerning their stewardship of the mountain and all of the wildlife that dwelled there. His grandfather had taught him well about the importance of taking care of the land. How he should only allow loggers into the valley once a year to clear out the deadwood and underbrush to ensure that they could keep forest fires under control. They had built a series of fire watchtowers and water towers throughout the valley and all along the rim for use by State firefighters. But each of the locations where fenced in, with an eye to ensure that the wildlife could not stumble in and get hurt accidently by the presence of the humanity sworn to watch over and protect them.

What really upset Ethan Spaight was the fact that he had to fight the local chapter of the Sierra Club only a week after he buried his parents and sister when he allowed the logging company to fulfill their yearly contract to come in and clean up the valley. The courts had kept them out of the valley for the entire summer, and they had barely been able to get the deadwood and underbrush cleared by the fall and early onset of winter. It had been such a short harvest season that he was worried that the mountain would be at risk for a forest fire come spring. Thus he had chosen to spend the majority of the winter crisscrossing the valley and mountain trying to identify those areas that would be the most at risk, and to try and track the areas where the wolf pack had chosen as their dens and warrens.

Ethan looked down at the Valley as he crossed over the rim, and sighed. An early snow had already started. He knew he wouldn’t make it back to his cabin before night fall, but he would be able to make it to one of the fire watchtowers where he could get out of the cold and wait out the night and reach his log cabin by the next evening.

Ethan settled into the watchtower, and pulled out the small camp stove form his backpack and set up his sleeping bag and broke out one of his MREs. He looked out the window and sighed. The snowfall was so beautiful. Yet, he dreaded the fact that the temperature would drop below freezing. He hadn't had the chance to make sure that the water towers were emptied to a safe level. He silently cursed the 'doo-gooder' brigade that thought they knew better than the people who had been doing this for over two centuries.

He stepped out onto the porch and lit one of his thin cigars as he started to munch on the entee of his MRE. He couldn't believe how nice the area was looking. The stars where so brilliant here on the mountain. He loved the mountain, it was such a wonderful place to live. He had always looked forward to living here after retirement.

He hated the fact of why he had to push up his plans. He was something that burned deep in his heart. He knew that one of the two groups trying to take his family's legacy for their own ends. And he was very close to coming to hate them for that. He never had been able to hate someone... But now, now it was personal. And he was starting to understand hate.

"Who ever you are," he said looking out over the valley. "I will find you. And I will make you pay..."

He cocked his head to the side and smiled as he looked beneath the tower. He could sense something was down there, and when he looked he could see the outline of a beautiful white wolf that was taking refuge form the snow in the framework of the watchtower to sheild them from the cold wind and snow.

"Well hello," he said soflty. "My name is Ethan, and I'm here to watch over you now... You and your family can rest easy, I will never let anyone do anything to harm you."

"I swear it," he said softly as he smiled down at the wolf. He reisisted sharing his meal. To afriad of getting it to use to a human presence.

Ethan smiled softly as he watched the wolf curl up so it could fall asleep as warmly as possible. "I would invite you to share the warmth of my stove," he said softly. "But I doubt you'd understand me..."

"You don't know how luckly you are," he said absently. "Wolves mate for life. Oh how lucky you are... No deceit, just a wonderful devotion to one another. How I envy you."

"My family has watched over you and yours for centuries," he said looking up at the stars that peaked through the snow. "My grandfather told me the legend of why we Speight's have devoted ourselves to yours..."

"That the wolves here saved the life of the youngest son of Richard Dobbs Spaight Senior," he said. "That he had fallen in love with the wolves... And he just couldn't bare the thought they would be at the mercy of the advance westward. So he was able to convience his older brother... The governor at the time to sell him the mountain."

"And in two hundred years," Ethan said smiling looking down at the wolf nessled beneath him. "We have continued to honor that love, and many of us have shared it..."

"How much I envy you," he said wiping an absent tear. "How I wish... I could have been a wolf. You don't betray or lie to one another. How I wish I could find my mate who wouldn't betray me."

"Sweet dreams cousin," he said softly as he turned to go into the tower. "I'll be watching over you and your family. And I will find out who it is that wants to do you harm. And I will protect you form them. You have my word."

Ethan entered the tower and stripped down to his boxer briefs before getting into his sleeping bag. He checked his rifle and made sure that it was safely secured before he yawned and quickly fallen asleep.

Jenna Protector's Guard

Jenna padded through the forest careful to stay far enough back so that he would not sense her or see her, she had been following him since he had arrived on the mountain. The newest Speight to watch over her pack, Jenna's ears twitched as she listened to everything around them. She knew the snow was going to fall soon and would have loved nothing more then to tell him to turn back.....but she could not risk exposing herself to him, not just yet and so she followed on.

While the Speight's always looked after her pack and made sure the dens were protected. But Jenna knew that not all were aware just how unique these white wolves are. For many years her kind had lived on this mountain in harmony with the surroundings, but then one year long ago that all changed forever. A female wolf, also a women was loved by two men, One a Speight the other something entirely different. The woman's heart belonged to the Speight brother, the other man burning with rage and fury venomously vowed his revenge on the lovers and for every generation since a war of sorts has been waged......vengence, jealousy and unrequited love fueling it all.

Jenna shook her head at the thoughts of the past and whined softly as a snow flake landed on her white snout...it was going to be cold. She followed the Speight to a fire watch tower on the mountain and was glad he would at be sheltered from the cold front that was setting in, Jenna was ordered to the duty of protection of the protector, she was the protectors guard. A teaming of sorts, she watched over him while he watched over her pack...every generation had been the same a duo selected by blood or in this case necessity to protect the mountain and the pack and the secret. This Speight was the last of his family, Jenna was simply the oldest trained and un-mated female making her the most suitable for the role.

She waited till he was up in the tower before venturing closer then she had ever dared before, Jenna could not risk that he could come to harm over night, there had been other presences on the mountain of late...unwelcomed presences her pack had picked up the trail in several locations. So she had to stay close and the only place for her to seek any shelter was under the tower itself. She listened to him settle above and paced under the tower keeping watch as night and the snow began to fall.

Jenna could hear his foot steps as he crossed the floor above and headed to the porch. She cocked an ear and listened to him talking to himself, obviously plagued by memories of his own. She heard him vowing vengeance for his family, Jenna understood that compulsion and desire she had lost many family members to this war and her life was spent devoted to the protection of the rest and to their secret. She moved forward a little to listen to him more clearly, she was intrigued by this Speight.

Looking up at him, Jenna was shocked when he looked down and smiled directly at her. Her heart beat hammered in her chest and she was tempted to scurry back out of site, but his words made her freeze to the spot. "Well hello," he said softly. "My name is Ethan, and I'm here to watch over you now... You and your family can rest easy, I will never let anyone do anything to harm you." Jenna wanted to respond, to tell him he was not alone, to tell him she would share that burden with him "I swear it," as do I she thought.

It was growing colder, he should be inside not out here. Jenna hunched down on the snow near the base of the tower to try and contain as much body heat as possible. Her thick fur coat helped but it was still going to be cold and Ethan should be inside so hopefully if she settled and showed little interest he would just go back into the tower. It was her job to protect him so if he caught pneumonia and died, her pack , her home all would be lost.

Ethan mentioned inviting her in, and she wanted to groan in frustration. It was going to be cold out here, so she would love nothing more then to go into the tower or a nice warm den. When he said she would not understand him, Jenna couldn't help but smile as she thought .....I am not the only one. She wondered if he would accept the truth when she showed it to him, Sometimes that was the hardest job of the protector's guard to make sure The Protector knew what they were protecting....not all were quite willing to accept it straight away.

Jenna listened to him recount part of the history, and to him say he was envious of the wolf devotion to their mate, he was envious of the trust.....she winced and wondered if he would still feel the same when he learned she had now been mated to him for as long as he lived. As The Protectors guard she was to be with him always his connection to her kind and his companion and his Ally. The wolf pack had known how lonely the role of The Protector would be and how much they would suffer for the cause, and so they had picked the Protectors Guard for each generation after the first of the Speight's suffered so much when his mate had died at the hands of the other man.

If Ethan ever took a wife, Jenna would never interfere in that or with his family. But still she would be mated to him and would always be around just as her ancestors and predecessor had been for the past Protectors. Jenna heard Ethan wish her goodnight and she looked up to him and longed to put him at ease and wish him safe slumber. But instead she slumped her head back down on her paws and listened to him prepare for bed.

The night wore on and Jenna began to shiver her fur twitched in the wind, and the snow was alot heavier on the ground and was still falling quite hard. She could bare the cold no longer, if she stayed out here she run risk of falling ill or dying herself. So knowing Ethan was asleep, Jenna crept the stairs of the fire tower steps and she hoped he would not pull a weapon on her.

Entering the the tower she saw him huddled in a sleeping back, she could tell he was also cold as he shivered in his sleep and his skin was almost blue. Carefully approaching him and gripping the top of his sleeping bag with her fangs she dragged him closer to the camp stove and then laid her body behind him to warm him from that side. She knew he would no doubt be shocked when he woke but she hoped he would see she meant him no harm.

Laying her head on her paws, Jenna shared her furred body warmth with her mate and soon drifted off to sleep.........

Ethan had reamained asleep as Jenna had moved him closer to the camp stove, but once she had gotten pressed tight up against his back he had fitfully rolled over and cuddled up to the warm body that had joined him. With a sigh his arm wrapped around her, and buried his face into her fur. At first the chill had started to awaken him. But he thankfully had quickly settled back to sleep. It was as if her very presence settled his troubled dreams, and he had responded by pulling her closer to him.

As he slept, Ethan had continued to snuggle up against jenna's warm furred body and slept deeply, without nightmares or other problems that he had developed over the years. Ethan awoke, and realized that he was snuggled up with the beautiful white she wolf that he had seen earlier sheltered underneath the fire watch tower. He remained as still has he could, hoping not to startle her.

"Oh boy," he said softly, soothingly. "But I did offer..."

Jenna had not meant to drift off to sleep, she was supposed to be keeping watch. But snuggled next to Ethan she was comfortable and finally warm and the sleep had just swept over her body and claimed her. She had not stirred until she heard his voice.......

"Oh boy," he said softly, soothingly. "But I did offer..."

Jenna lifted her head slowly and looked at him, she wanted to laugh because he looked like he thought she was going to eat him. Standing up on all fours she stretched and shook her body before taking two steps towards him and nuzzling him with her nose, to show she wanted to be friends. Just then her stomach grumbled she had not eaten for a day or two now she had been too busy keeping watch over Ethan.

Ethan was stunned that she had just nuzzled him and was looking at him with her tummy growling in hunger. "You're hungry," he said softly as he squatted infront of her wearing only his boxer-briefs, reaching into his jacket pocket to take out some beef jerky and offering her some of it.

"Would you like some beef jerky?" he asked swallowing as he held out a large piece of beef jerky out to her. When he realized he was so vulernable he blushed and shifted his legs to hide the fact he had woke up with an impressive errection. "One of the wolves here watched over me when I had gotten lost in on the mountain back when i was a little boy. She protected me for three days. And only left when the rescue people showed up..."

"I guess you got really cold out there huh?" he said gently petting her head when she started to eat the jerky from his hand. "Why are you out in this snow... You really should have been in your den. I have to be out in this... Checking on everything, making sure you and all your friends and family are safe."

Jenna licked her lips the beef jerky looked so good right now, she gently took it from his fingers brushing him with her lips and tongue and being extra gentle so as not to scare him. It was as she was swallowing the last of the jerky that she spied his morning glory, if she was in human form she would have blushed but in wolf form Ethan cold not see that and so she only looked away when he shifted.

"One of the wolves here watched over me when I had gotten lost in on the mountain back when i was a little boy. She protected me for three days. And only left when the rescue people showed up..." Ethan was telling her a story she already had known, that wolf had been her mother. She had found Ethan scared and alone and knew he needed comfort, so she had stayed with him until she had known it was safe to leave him. It was her mothers strong maternal instinct rather then simple protection, because what Ethan didn't know was that Jenna was there as well ....her mother had been with pup and after that day had often shared the story with Jenna of the boy and the wolf.

The more Ethan spoke to her the more Jenna longed to answer him to explain to him the full story about everything, but she didn't know if this would be the best time. So she sat silently and watched him listening and taking comfort and warmth from his voice. She knew he would be amazed by this seemingly wild wolf acting so domestically and that kind of made her smile, but one day soon it would all become clear to him.

Ethan's head cocked to the side as if he had heard something in the distance, a look of confusion crossed his face until the sound had become clear for both him and Jenna. It was a low, plantive howl. "One of your family members is also out there in all this snow," he said frowning as he got up and walked over to one of the windows and opened the shutter, shivering in the cold that blew into the single room of the tower. "They're on the far side of the valley."

He looked at Jenna as he closed the shutter and squatted down beside Jenna and petted her. "I can't make up my mind on what I should call you," he said softly. "Snowflake or.." he said sniffing her, and actually catching her scent. "..Heather.. You smell of heather."

"But you're so beautiful," he said grinning as he petted her and looked into her eyes smiling at her. "Snowflake... I'll call you snowflake."

Jenna heard the wolf cry, it was her cousin Natiece. It seemed they had found another set of tracks belonging to something that should not be on this mountain. They knew that the presence of these tracks and this thing being on the mountain was nothing short of dangerous.......there could only be one reason, it wanted Ethan.

Jenna whined a little at the wolf cry, it made her nervous. She listened to Ethan and wanted to tell him what was going on, but didn't think she should just yet. Jenna knew where the wolf pack was and knew they would alert her if they found anything else. Ethan stepped closer to her and bent down, Jenna nuzzled into his hand and listened. He was very kind and "SNOW FLAKE" she groaned inside at the thought of that ....was he kidding.

She knew one day the name would change and he would call her Jenna but Snowflake was so prissy and just so not her, either was heather....Jenna's ears flattened at the thought. "Snowflake... I'll call you snowflake" Jenna couldn't control it she nipped his finger in response, no one was calling her snowflake her wolf pack would never let her live it down. It was only a very small nip but it should get across that she was displeased with snowflake. She flicked her ears and turned away from him as if to emphasize her distaste for such a name. To anyone watching it would have almost appeared comical.

"Ow, Shit!" Ethan yelped as he jerked his hand back at Jenna's nip of his finger, it automatically flew into his mouth where he unconsiously started to suck on it. "Damn... That hurt."

"Shit," he said looking at her strange behavior and shook his head snorting. Shaking his head and looking at her and frowning. "You could have just said 'No' if you didn't like the name you know..."

"How about Heather?" he asked as he moved up to her and started petting her again. "Your scent smells strong of Heather with a hint of lavender, so identifying you would be easy for me to remember. And if you're going to be like this with me, I need to be able to keep you safe. You really shouldn't be so comfortable around humans. Not all humans are going to protect you like I will."

"Damn," he grumbled looking down at his finger and shaking his head he looked at Jenna and grinned mischeaviously. "Well, it could have been worse. But I have to admit that I've had worse bites from a Chihuahua..."

Jenna was smiling inside thinking serves him right for calling her something as horrible as snow flake, still with her back to him she wined when he mentioned heather...she shot him a hell no look and then turned her back to him again as if in protest.

She listened to him describing her smell and that he wanted to protect her, his warnings but it was his hands she was concentrating on so gentle so strong soothing she began to relax. That was until he teased her and said her bite was no better then a chihuahua, Jenna snorted with a laugh and then growled and turned and pounced on him knocking him on his back and began to lick his face relentlessly.

Ethan had been initially startled when when Jenna pounced on him, but started laughing when she had started licking his face. He couldn't believe how she was acting. Not quite like a domesticated pet, but she was acting so much like she was alot more than a simple wolf. And her scent was causing him a grand amount of confusion that he just couldn't get past.

"Why can't i find a woman who'll be as loving as you," he laughed as he hugged the shewolf that was ontop of him. "You really didn't like me calling you snowflake, and gave me one hell of a dirty look when i offered heather. And started licking he when I teased you..."

"If I didn't know any better," he said scratching her behind her right ear with his left hand and under her chin with his right as he looked up at her still chuckling. "I'd think you can understand me."

"Damn," he said giving her a hug. "What I wouldn't give for that.. A female that understood me and would... Would always be there."

Jenna stopped licking and looked into his eyes, she wanted to tell him but .....couldn't risk scaring him away. He was the only protection the wolf clan had left and the only safe guard for the mountain. Not to mention he was her mate, although she could not force him to be bonded to that as she would be. But like it or not she was bonded to him forever, even if it meant she would be forever on the outskirts looking in on his life...it was her duty and were she belonged, she was the Protector's Guard.

She leaped from his chest and sat looking at him her eyes no doubt showing a depth he couldn't understand right now....but she hoped one day he would. She step forward and licked his wounded hand the last thing she wanted was for him to get an infection or to be caused any permanent pain because of her.

Ethan smiled at Jenna and gently petted her as she licked his finger and held it up to her. And much to her surprise the little nick from her nip had already healed. "All better," he said softly with a grin. "I heal pretty quick. My grandfather said it was just good genetics. All part of being a Spaight."

"I can tell you this," he said conspiratorially with a broad smile as he looked into her eyes. "You're the only other being alive who knows this little secret. Something granddad told me to never let anyone find out."

"Promise not to tell?" he asked as he petted Jenna, she could tell that his loneliness was really getting to him, and he needed to share his secrets with someone. Even if it was something he thought was just a wolf. "It's not the only thing different about me. I'm a freak of nature. I can see in the dark, it's why I could see you hiding under the tower tonight. I can run really fast, because it's almost like I'm some kind of wild animal when I'm in wilderness."

"But granddad always said that we're not freaks of nature," he said softly. "But part of Nature..."

"Protectors of it," he said. "God gave us Dominion over the Animals, and made us more in touch with them so we'll always remember just how... Precious every one of God's creatures are in the 'circle of life'..."

"But it still scares me," he said sighing. "What woman will want a man like me? Every time I think that I've found one who wants me. who will be my mate. I end up getting shit on and thrown away."

"How I wish I was a wolf," he said sighing as he hugged Jenna and smiled sadly. "You don't have to worry about things like this... Your biggest fears or worries are tied to finding shelter, food and protecting your young."

"And I swear that I will make sure that's all you will ever need to worry about," he said looking into her eyes and scratching the backs of both of her ears playfully.

Jenna couldn't stand it any more his loneliness was more then she could bare, The Protector deserved more. The protector deserved peace and to know he was appreciated more then he could ever understand and that he was not alone ...........Jenna moved away from Ethan, turning her back to him she cast him one last look before a slow mist began to form around her as if she was being surrounded by a fog.

When the fog cleared she knew Ethan was going to be shocked, because there was Jenna in her human form. A striking female with ice blue eyes, white hair and smooth skin covering her seductive curves. "Your not alone Ethan" was all she said as she looked at him slowly over her shoulder.

Ethan sat there looking as the beautiful white wolf had turned into a an extremely attractive, sexy and desirable white haired woman. His mouth hung open, slack jawed he just stared at her. His eyes had widened and he tried to speak, but only unintelligable sounds had come out until he had finally been able to form a few worlds.

"Wow," he said softly. "You're... you're so damn beautiful."

"This is impossible," he said swallowing as he looked down and tried to cover his arroused state. "You're a wolf, but also a woman... I don't understand. Werewolves are just fantasy."

"This has to be a dream," he said nodding and then smiled. "Because it it's not, pinch me and prove it."

Jenna turned slowly to face Ethan, use to her naked form she never even considered concealing herself as she approached him and gently touched his check "It's not a dream Ethan, and I am very much real" she smiled at him softly. So far so good he hadn't run screaming from the tower and he hadn't fainted, he seemed calm just a little confused.

She looked him in the eyes "I am Jenna" she smiled at the memory of him calling her snow flake earlier "not snow flake" she shook her head no and gave him a teasing smile. She waited for him to absorbed that and then continued "I am from the white wolf clan and as you would now have guessed we are not normal wolves" she stroked his face gently trying to calm him with her voice as well as with her touch "You are the last of Spaight family bloodline that has protected us for many generations, your family have protected us and the mountain and kept our secret. You are now The Protector.....do you understand?"

Ethan blushed as he tried not to blantantly look at Jenna's nudity, but he couldn't help himself. His body had ready been arroused due to his dreams and by the call of nature. But now it had been arroused by more and had even caused his manhood to gain several more inches that came from a true sense of desire.

Ethan's face leaned into Jenna's touch, and he couldn't help but sigh from how good that light and gentle touch felt against his skin. "Jenna?" he asked looking into her eyes after he couldn't help the fact that his eyes had already slowly took in every detail of her body. "Your name is Jenna?"

"And I," he said licking his lips as he looked at her, his blush deepening to a bright red that had spread from the tips of his hair down to the soles o his feet. "I am 'the Protector'... the Protector of your clan. But why... Why are you here?"

Jenna nodded slowly letting him know that so far he understood perfectly. She continued to stroke his cheek and smiled as his face turned to her palm just as she had done to him in wolf form. Jenna took a deep breath and spoke slowly "Long ago our families were joined by two lovers. They however never got to be together, because another mans jealousy tore them apart. He killed the women and vowed to kill every last member of the white wolf clan because if he could not have her then no one would , and he vowed every white wolf would feel his pain" she swallowed and blinked back a few tears at the sad horrid tale.

"That same night another man a Spaight, who loved the she-wolf more then words also made a vow as he held her limp in his arms and that was to protect her kind, and ever since both vows have been passed down to each generation of Spaight and also to the vampires that hunt us" she new the last would take some time for him to understand completely and she put both hands on his cheeks and looked into his eyes hoping he would see the truth there.

"I am The Protectors Guard....my kind, my family select a member of our clan to serve with the Protector, to be mated to him for his life time to ease the burden of this vow that binds us all." she smiled warmly and kissed him gently on the lips and then looked into his eyes "I am here to protect you as you protect us"

"You're my guardian?" he asked as his right hand had reached out to touch her cheek while he allowed himself to be completely lost as he gazed into her ice blue eyes when the rest of what she had just said sank in.

"Mated to me?" he asked swallowing hard. "You're mated to me? You mean..."

"We're..." he continued as he looked down and then back up into her eyes. "I mean... I'm.. yours now?"

Jenna smiled as he touched her cheek, it was good it meant he was not scared of her. She tried to remain calm as he looked into her eyes even though her heart fluttered a little. He was her mate, she had known this from birth. But that did not mean he had to accept her as his wife, partner, soul mate what ever it was a human termed a mate as.

She swallowed a little at his question she was nervous "It means that, I am your's. I am not allowed to interfere should you choose to select another, but I will always be protecting you" she blushed and closed her eyes a little not wanting him to know how venerable that made her feel. "The Protectors Guard is mated to them, so that they suffer no distraction and so that their full attention is on aiding the Protector in what ever way they need. I am simply here to make your job less of a burden to you and to help keep you safe, as you keep my clan safe. " her voice was barely a whisper she shivered a little suddenly feeling the cold.

When he saw her shivering he brought her over to his sleeping bag and helped her get into it's warmth.

"Let's get warm," he said softly as his blush deepened. "We're both not wearing enough to be out in the cold..."

"But you'll never leave me?" his voice broke as he asked her the question as they settled into the warm sleeping bag. His hands fluttered over her face and shoulders as he searched her face and eyes.

"If you," he said placing his forehead against her shoulder and sighing. "If you want to be with me, that's all that matters to me. I would never stray form you. I have never strayed... I've always been the one who has been used up and thrown away."

"Snowflake," he said looking into her eyes and grinning mischeavously.

Jenna settled into the sleeping bag with him, he was right it was too cold to be standing about half naked or naked. She blushed a little but did not look away from him she, "that's better" she whispered as they settled into the sleeping bag together. "But you'll never leave me?" his voice broke as he asked the question, Jenna smiled at him softly and ran her fingers down his face.....she was about to answer when he cheekily called her Snowflake.

She screwed up her face in mock distaste then laughed lightly "I may not bite so well in this form but I can still try" she moved quickly and playfully nipped at his neck before laughing and pulling back to look into his eyes and whisper "no Ethan I will never leave, I am your mate"

When Jenna had nipped at his neck, she felt his arrousal jump against his boxer briefs against her thigh. He blushed when he realized what had happened. "Really?" he said softly as put his head against her bare shoulder. "Then... That's all that matters. I'll never leave either."

He looked up into her eyes and smiled mischeaviously. "Just don't make fun over how I enjoy you biting me 'Snowflake'..."

Jenna smiled and blushed a little at his teasing, she let him get away with that snowflake...only cause he was being adorable. She smiled at him and wanted to believe his words and promise that he wouldn't leave, but time would tell. She had heard of a few tales of the Protectors Guards, Guards who had stepped back into the shadows so the protector could have that normal life with a normal woman and family as they desired.

Jenna leaned closer and wrapped her arms around Ethan, she didn't have words but she wanted to hold him. It was probably in proper for a woman to hug a man when she was naked like this but for Jenna it was as natural as the sun rising and setting each day.....her clan were free spirited affectionate and not ashamed of their bodies as humans tended to be.

Ethan laid his head against Jenna's shoulder with a sigh as she held him. His arms tightened around her as he got comfortable holding her. His hands had started absently tracing little lazy eights and other patterns agaisnt her smooth skin. He looked up, and deeply into her eyes as he bit his lower lip. There was another question he had, but didn't know how to word it.

"Does this mean that we'll be living at the cabin I built," he asked her as he studied her eyes. "Or in your den?"
