I went there and created an account, logged in after getting activation email and am now stuck.
Supposed to be able to create a speaking character but doesn't appear to be any way to proceed.

ok, EO - glad you want to play
first off, after you've logged in, do you see a tab that says 'create' on the top left hand side? if you do, hit it and it gives you the options to create your voki. if that's not showing up, do you see a tab that says 'my voki'? if you click that, you'll find the 'create a new voki' option to the centre of the screen.

if you access the site from the voki link i posted, beneath mine is the tab saying 'get your own voki' or something. click on that, and it'll prompt you to log in, where your options should appear. if they don't, then i have no idea... but there are other ways to skin a rabbit. i believe you can make wav. files using 'tindeck' amongst others.

it would be if the site in question was in direct competition to Lit, for example, or spam. the link i have posted merely allows you to hear my voki, as it stands. if you wish to then play, by contributing a whispering post, then you can find the main voki site via the link. it isn't going to drive traffic away from Lit, annie, just allow people to create their vokis and join in a little fun.

same for the tindeck - it's a tool to help people here create voiced pieces - it is something of benefit to lit, not detrimental. do you really suppose i'd post harmful stuff? *goodheavensinabasket!*

I can see things like that, but nothing seems to be active beyond that.
Maybe it sees that I don't have a mic on my PC (which would also be a problem with tindeck).

erm, yeah, i think a mic's par for the course though voki provides other options - such as adding your voice by phone...

It's no different from posting a link to a photo on another site. There is a list of sites which are not allowed. If a non-allowed site link is posted, it shows up as a row of *********'s.

Every once in awhile, a banned site has the same name as a Lit user. They cannot post their own name and hilarity ensues.

SEND TO A FRIEND... click on it and send it to your own e-mail address. once you receive it, click on the link in the mail, and your voki will appear. c&p the url at the top of the page of the voki, and add as a link here. it won't allow people into your voki account, only to view the recording.
