Anyone catch the most recent episode of The West Wing? Seriously thought provoking… covered several angles and opposites very effectively.

There was a line in there taken from Abraham Lincoln that I felt says what I’ve been *trying* to say ever since the NYC tragedy, regarding safety concerns within this country, and steps we plan, or may consider taking. Something I’m VERY concerned about. It went:

“They, that can give up essential liberty – to obtain a little temporary safety…
deserve neither liberty, nor safety.”

Abe Lincoln. Pretty wise guy, eh?

This is the MOST important reaction Americans must be VERY careful about. Knee-jerk, clamp down on it, security, security, security – at the cost of freedom of movement and civil liberties in THIS country, is the enemy.

Remember McCarthyism? Remember Japanese Americans post Pearl Harbor?

We need to enable the CIA to get dirty. But we also need to protect against a policed nation (FBI). And Americans need to realize the importance of this FINE LINE. They need to defend it. It’s your duty as an American to those who paid the price before you, and those forthcoming.

Rome fell. Know why? Because those in power started pointing fingers withIN. They destroyed themselves by abusing their control masked in public interest.
And that led to the dark ages, people. Hmm…… wouldn’t our current enemy truly enjoy a return to that kind of civilization? Hell – they’re living in it themselves right now, eh. They LIKE dust.

Our security was just fine in this country prior to this event. We’re lucky! And more secure than any other nation. We’re now going to take care of some bad guys (it appears, smartly, and on a grand scale). Hopefully, that will deter them, or others, in the future. There are minor steps we can take to prevent some future possibilities. Every once in a while – we’re going to take a punch. But we ALWAYS get up, eh. And we still get in the lunch line even though Billy Bully wants to steal our milk.

Don’t stop being an American and knowing what that means, and entails. It carries a responsibility.
Be aware.
Earn it.
Walk…

A-HA! Yet I am simply paranoid, yes?

I wondered why that hound hunt for my website was of such importance to a few total strangers. Bragged? Uh, I went to a BB for help. They said I should charge for access. I stated I couldn’t ‘charge’ for access to my site because I DID NOT OWN the content. From that point forward I was inundated with ‘remove these pics’ requests (which were honored) from the content owners – because some board member made it her personal vendetta (I wonder who that was now… hmm……). I mentioned my disdain for the treatment, and made a post regarding ‘Napster evil? Or does it simply spread the wealth around more?’ I also recall mentioning Literotica in high regard on that board. Which is interesting, since I apparently was hell bent on destroying it. That’s odd.
(Also, I used the name XXplorher. Which is odd, because I have several 'troll' names that I like to hide behind, right? How stupid of me).

I wonder how it is you know all about that. That’s unusual, don’t you think? Of what concern is it to you?

Seems to me you’ve just clarified that plenty of people were/are roaming behind my back in a circus of ‘he did this, he said that’ barnacle bill baloney. If someone loves the drama.) but any abusive threats of destruction are complete bull. Period. Why do such people take an interest in uh, ‘punishing’ me? Don’t know. I don’t really get it. Who was trying to destroy who now? I’m getting confused. You sure you’re not on a campaign? You live for it man! Duh!! I’ve already established your meek self-esteem, which creates your need to denigrate others, Peter Keating (that’s not DCL’s real name by the way folks. At least I don’t think so! I came back to post here cuz I needed a release from the WTC thing. I HAD to have connection to society. And to be honest, I felt helpless. This served as my channel to feeling some sort of ‘action’. (Effective or not). I’ll keep posting if I feel like it (besides – it makes you feel good). And thanks for your permission.
If it stops being fun again – I’ll stop posting. Forever? Doubtful. Right now I’m not sure if it’s fun or not. But you just MADE me stay longer. Ooops.

To tell you the truth I did see your point, somewhat, but you were still wrong, and you were such a total superior dick about the whole thing that you created a whole host of enemies. Abe did a little thing, he suspended habeas corpus ad subjiciendum. Which meant the Northern government could throw your butt in jail and did not have to put you in front of a judge or charge you with a crime. Not cool.

I watched the show for the first time due to the hype. While I found it very educational, I also found it very boring. Sort of like one of my lectures.

Is the regular show any better?

as for the show and good, ol' Abe, i didn't watch it and what he did was both good and bad at the same time (good=allowed a few necissary actions not normally possible, bad=temporarily took away a few civil liberties).

Ya know, I suppose it DOES matter whether it was Ben Franklin or Abe Lincoln… given the circumstances they would have said it in. That was important. My mistake.

Is the West Wing normally ‘better’ ? No.
Is it normally very different from that one – yes. I’ve heard the press mention plenty of viewers thought that particular episode dull. I find that hard to understand. They were able to take on most every possible angle of perception on the issue facing us - evenly. How often do you have a conversation like that among friends? I thought it was brilliant. And there was plenty of insight I was unaware of - cuz unlike some here, I’m not an encyclopedia of knowledge. I’m an observer. There’s plenty I’m not aware of until I see, or hear it. I didn’t think it was boringly educational at all.
(Not to mention it was put together in a very limited time frame – which is almost astonishing!)

And DCL, I went through my old Emails sent (auto filing cabinet) expecting to at least see something like “I oughta kick your fuckin ass, you gack”. Nothing even remotely CLOSE to that. Nada. Zip. Zero physically (or other) threatening remarks, period. Nothing that can even be PERCIEVED as that! (Goes without saying there were none to anyone else, but I double checked just to be certain. Nope. Nothing.). So you’re not even accurate with the ONLY claim you can make on me on a factual basis.
I was hoping to credit you with falling for hearsay regarding the rest of that crap you declared – but you directly lied about your OWN personal interactions with me. Which completely discredits you.
(BTW, any Email received from me would be from the one Email addy (AOL). I don’t use any accounts outside of AOL (including literotica). If you received anything with this name, non AOL – it isn’t mine. I can’t imagine someone taking the time to falsify me – but ya never know….)

Oh, and if an ‘asshole’ is someone who stands and declares his truth and beliefs before all, popular or not – then I am indeed one serious fucking asshole. Wish there were more of ‘em!
And no – I didn’t think you were ‘directly’ involved in that (webmaster forum). The fact you ‘knew’ about it says plenty, eh. That, and the ‘gathering’... I feel a lot less paranoid.

Now, I’ll stop being hypocritical about a post I made recently that it’s pointless to argue personal matters on a BB – cuz it only gets you in deeper.
