Probably too improbable:

Two brides are running late for their weddings, and end up in the wrong chapels. Flustered, they stay behind their veils, not even noticing until it is too late that they marry the wrong groom.

The grooms of course think that there is no reason not to consummate before fixing the mistake...

It just requires a a lot dumb luck and suspension of disbelief. I have a hard time seeing a woman at the wrong chapel, maybe I just live in a place that doesn't have enough chapels though. Perhaps if this took place in hotel or one of those shoddy Vegas weddings though.

I know guys are dogs but to fuck a random girl on the day of your wedding. . .that's low even by porn standards. You'd probably be better off if everybody knew everybody and this wasn't a mistake. Two of them are in on it.

Perhaps it was two couple long time friends, it was always obvious that Guy A had the hots for Girl B and Girl A and Guy B used to date anyway and that's how everybody met. It's still hard to swallow but it sound interesting.

The only way to make the original premise plausible is if the two brides are identical twins separated at birth who discover each other's existence only on their wedding day. Hey, that might work! :D

it is Lit plausible.

This makes me remember of a story here about a woman not knowing she has an idential twin sister, then meeting by accident, and soing some husband swapping after that. Where in the end they even trick the husbands into thinking they swapped, when they didn't.

And to OP: it's not too unlikely for a hotel to host two weddings at the same time, and arriving at the wrong hall in the correct hotel is much more likely than the wrong chapel (especialyl assuming the brides were involved in preparations for their wedding, so they would know which chapel they're supposed to go to, while a hotel with multiple large function rooms may at the last moment change the room for whatever reason).

Now the likelyhood for even the men to accept another woman on their wedding night, let alone the women, that's a totally different matter. There is only so much disbelief one can suspend :)

I have one suggestion that might make it a bit more plausible. Perhaps the brides are sisters, and the family is having a large double wedding to begin with. Instead of ending up in different chapels, the sisters just get switched up on their way down the aisle, and, wearing heavy veils that don't allow them to see or be seen, no one's aware until the husbands lead them away to the honeymoon chambers.

What happens to the you may kiss the bride step? That seems like anything but identical twins are likely to botch this, though twins doing it on purpose kinda sounds nice especially with the double wedding.

Yes, the pesky kiss is the biggest problem with the original story premise.

I wonder if there is a parallel situation in a Muslim wedding with the wife in burka?
