The weather sucks, let's go to the movies

nope cant afford to go to the movies but i watched
stuck on you
slapstick.. and silly humor.. two thumbs up in my book..
i can never turn down a funny movie

I'm a renter too.

I do want to see the Village however, especially since it was filmed near here.

This past week I saw:

Kill Bill vol2..excellent.

Cold Mountain...so moving.

Monster....Charlize ugly and a great, great performance.

The Magdelene Sisters...If you hated nuns before, you'll really loathe them after this.

Ehehe, well, we just got an early xmas present from partners grandparents... New multi region DVD player and surround sound for the bedroom.

Have you ever watched porn on one of those? We did just to see, it was HYSTERICAL *sniggers*

Anyway! Watched Underworld. Very enjoyable.

I want to see the Village...

I watched "The Quickie" because I knew it starred Jennifer Jason-Leigh and involved Russians. It's an odd film, which I like, and I am now very much enamoured with Vladimir Mashkov, the male lead. I am renting everything I can find of his.

Also viewed "The Reckoning", based on a fave book, Morality Play by Barry Unsworth, about a group of players (actors) in Medieval Enland. Excellent cast and historical bits. The female lead, Gina McKee, is a fave actress; I adore her face, would see her in anything.

Perdita

The weather here was bad, although nothing like the East coast. I mostly stayed home and watched my fave: 'The Monster That Devoured Cleveland.'

Damn, I can never find two consecutive hours to watch a flick. By the time the kids are in bed, I either wanna play with hubby or crash -- maybe play a couple games of euchre online. Movies are rather low on the priority list.

I've had the LotR DVDs for months now -- and still haven't found time to watch any of them.

It kinda detracts from the film to have to watch it in 10-minute increments. (Mom, make me a sandwich! Mom, fix this! Mom, do that!) Kinda like reading a Lit story one paragraph at a time -- with 20 minute breaks in between for household drudgery. Leaves one rather dry no matter how good the story!

exactly why I have not watched ROTK all the way through at one time since it was in the theatres...

In the last week I have seen The Village and Aliens vs. Predator. I liked them both, but not as much as I expected to. The Village is the worst M. Night Shyamalan movie yet, and it's still pretty decent. I agree that it was a bit of a letdown. I knew right off the bat that Alien vs Predator was going to be a little lighter than the first Alien films as soon as I saw that it was PG-13. I took my seven year old niece and it kinda almost sorta scared her a little bit.

I give them both two thumbs sideways. Okay for what they are, just not as good as they could have been.

The best movie I saw this week was when I stayed home and watched my Reservoir Dogs DVD.

Saw "Little Black Book". Very light and fluffy. It was cute. The little blond girl was cute. Her boyfriend was cute. The dog was cute. Some surprises, some depth, but still...pink...you know, just so darn cute. ---> :cathappy:

I'm a little biased having read every Robert Ludlum novel (until he became a corporate conglomerate, aka Tom Clancy, and still manages to publish novels years after his death) but The Bourne Supremacy has one of the best car chases ever committed to film, better than Ronin or (dare I say it) Bullitt.

This weekend I'm looking forward to seeing Collateral, as Michael Mann's films have always been quite well done, good story, excellent pacing, intelligent direction, dating back to Thief with James Caan in 1981.

We rented the "The Boondock Saints". I highly recommend it. It could even make a good thread, given what's going on in the world today.

Interesting comment - I watched Bullit. Zack, good to see you again, but don't EVER compare today's car chase scenes to Bullit. I know they try, but no one does full speed chase scenes anymore and one of the things that makes Bullit a classic is that no slomo-speededup film was used. I won't get trapped into an argument about what is best. Yes, there have been others that some will argue are better ones, but none that I know that were entirely filmed in real time.

As for other fare: We broke out the anniversary edition of the Pink Panther series and got through two before histeria and drink required us to pause the marathon. Daughter opted for nostalgia the next day and GWTW and a Gene Kelly night finished things off.

Son says Collateral is worth seeing.

Collateral is a really good movie. Better than The Village or Aliens vs. Predator. I can't believe that I forgot that I went to that one.

Has anybody seen "The Butterfly Effect" yet? I've just seen the directors cut ... that was one of the very best movies I have seen so far this year.

I'd never have thought that Ashton Kutcher would be able to be that good and produce a movie that awesome. I just sat there speechless for a couple of minutes. And that isnt something you expect from a movie which main actor is Ashton Kutcher ...
