The cool darkness was almost never ending in this small country town. Angel had gone to great lengths to hide from who hunted her. She could still see those eerie eyes and hear his deep voice. A vampire...and not just any vampire but Drake or Dracula to the normal person. Apparently he had existed in secret all these centuries. She had the misfortune of catching him attacking an old woman one night. Something had happened that night that connected them in some dark way. She had attacked him without an ounce of fear for herself.
It wasn't that night that Angel found out that vampires did, indeed, exist. She managed to distract him long enough for the woman to escape but it only served to make Angel the object of his attention. From that night on, he was obsessed with making her his mate. She had no need to become a creature of the night. Angel was a caring soul that had a high value for life. The mere thought of killing to survive appalled her.
Tonight she could almost feel him. Angel had no idea why they were so connected. God, he was even in her dreams at night. They were dark erotic dreams, dreams of his touch on her body, dark promises spilling from his lips. He would tell her that he would treasure her, protect her, give her a life beyond her human dreams. She had no family to run to and no friends that she was willing to risk. Angel moved from place to place, each time he found her. What she feared the most was that if he ever caught hold of her that she wouldn't be able to resist him.
He was handsome and dark, a true creature of the night. Drake possessed these bright brown eyes, short dark hair around a striking face. His voice...god...that voice..reverberated in her mind. Tonight she had dinner at a local diner but her appetite hadn't been normal as of late. It was her nerves that did it. Even when she managed to get a full stomach, Angel would get sick not too long after. She had probably lost about 15 pounds since this whole thing started.
It was when she was in the parking lot that she felt it, that tingling warning that made the hairs on the back of her neck raise. Angel got into the car and did maybe 70 to get to the hotel to gather her things. She would have to move and move fast. He was close and she could feel it. When she got to the door, somebody grabbed hold of her and dragged her into the room.
