Section 365 - states something along the lines of if you make a purchase of over $10,000 it is to be reported to the government by the business. That business has to report your name, address, social security number and other pertinent information to the Governement.

What does your purchasing $10,000 worth of goods have to do with international terrorism?

I don't know. I thought the news said the terrorists in this attack all they used was picture ID, Passports and box cutters.

Could this be an attack on Private Enterprise?

Again I don't know, but similar legislation has occured in New Brunswick canada, I don't know if its Canada wide, but most small business owners here make thier purchases less tha n the limit cause when they go over someone always comes a knocking on the door.

Just food for thought. Maybe we can get a few thoughts on both sides of the issue, a few democrats, a few republicans and a few libertarians to reply please.

This has been in effect for years. The government thinks they can catch drug dealers this way. They are under the impression that the drug lords will deposit the millions they make in cash

From what I've heard..

The Feds suspect that the terrorists are getting their money through stolen CC numbers.. Also, there was a plot by a terrorist cell here in the U.S. to buy out a gas station so they could use the CC numbers that customers entered in when they used 'Pay @ The Pump'.. Kinda makes you wonder who has access to that stuff, doesn't it?

It's amazing the way a government can thing be it the american or in this instance the canadian as well.

The drug dealer line is the same cock and bull line they gave us here in New brunswick when they {Liberal Party, Priemieur Frank McKenna} instituted the $10,000 reporting deal.

I have never heard tell of a drug dealer in New Brunswick being caught for purchases/depostis of over $10,000 since it was instituted.

But I have heard of several businesses being audited for such. Two even in local areas where I happened to live in Bellisle and one in Sussex. the one in belleisle actually haivng to fold cause it was too small and didn't make enough profit to pay the trumped up charges.

Oh well any way a government can squelch free entrprise and private enterprise and financial independance of its people I guess
