In the movie "Gladiator", Joaquin Phoenix plays Commodus. He is killed in the end and falls on his ash (ass) in the dust. He "rises from the dead" in that he (Joaquin) is acting.

I wondered if there might be a phoenix (burd) on his costumes, but a quick search did not reveal any.
