Good to see that sanity has finally prevailed in the British Isles:


BREAKING: Britain Bans Huawei from 5G Network

Boris Johnson has ordered all Huawei technology to be stripped out of the UK’s 5G network by 2027.

In a major U-turn, the PM also banned the purchase of any new 5G equipment from the Chinese tech giant from the end of this year.

Acting on the advice of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Mr Johnson has accepted new US sanctions on Huawei are a “game changer” in relation to the impact of the firm’s technology on the UK’s national security.

Downing Street had previously allowed Huawei to have a role in the UK’s 5G infrastructure – a decision that came little more than six months ago.

But no one, not even the US, produces equipment that can replace Huawei - YET.

Our 5G will be delayed by years, and our 4G may have outages.

If there had been a feasible alternative, we would never have used Huawei. There wasn't and isn't.

No our tough guy government has caved in to American Pressure to delay our 5G development until American companies can catch up with Huawei. They did the same thing with TV refusing Baird a licence to broadcast until they had their own system to cvompete with Baird.

5G is supposed to get up to 10gig a sec. I don't think most will see that because it all depends on hardware but there will be a significant increase in speeds over the next few years. It's going to change a lot but it's not going to be overnight.
