The Three Week Cure!

This is so absurd, but I had to point it out. Everyone is aware, I'm sure, of Ted Haggard the big Right Wing Christian guy who was exposed for having a homosexual affair and buying meth from the male prostitute. Of course he didnt' USE the meth, right?

So after a three week "intense" ....class or something, they came out and proclaimed him 100% cure of the gay. Now....does this seem stupid to anyone?

I mean, forget the debate on whether being gay is a genetic thing or an environmental thing, or a choice or whatever. I'm not gay, but I don't care what people do. Whatever gets you off, gets you off, and I'm not anyone to question that.

But is it not just unfathomably and patently ridiculous to expect someone to have a three week cram session and come out cured of homosexuality?

I mean...the only thing I can think of is that he must not have been very gay to start with if three weeks got him back on the horse (so to speak). lol

And I don't mean that to be offensive, I just find the idea of this man and others like him to be just morally offensive on so many levels.

They are uncomfortable in their own skin (which given our society, is understandable I suppose) and then take it a step farther and just lash out at everyone who is like themselves.

but hey...three weeks...it's all it takes folks. I wonder if that works for "fuck ups"

I might have to look into that. I'll get my family back and all my old friends that I screwed over with my stupidity and "fucked up-edness" with just a two week course.

"Hey folks! Remember all that...yeah that stuff in the past? Yeah, screw it! I'm better now. Let's be friends?"

Pretty crazy. To paraphrase the Daily show, however "You've got to be pretty screwed up when you yield the moral high ground to a drug-dealing prostitute."

(Frankly, I find the drugs alarming, if not so much the prostitution)

But, basically, the guy is a huge hypocrite. He wasn't willing to cop to his actions and so he went and got himself "cured". The crack in the mask has been temporarily glossed over and he'll probably keep doing all the same things, just a lot more stealthily.

Yeah, it's crazy. If you check out the DVD "Jesus Camp" he's in there talking about how Fundie Christians have a better sex life than anyone else. Apparantly it's documented or something. lol

I'm a Christian, and this guy is just a jackass who apparantly wants Jack's ass.

The idea of a cure is just rediculous.
These people grew up in repressive anti gay christian enviroments, instead of recieving undertsnding they get hate and revulsion pushing them to try to attain a so called "moral standerd" which is based on circular reasoning.
It does not suprise me that these so called moral paragons of the christian right lead these double lives.
I mean you would have to lie to live in there twisted idea of a "moral life".
Ex gay is just another pathetic attempt to gloss over reality with antiquated beliefs about sexuality.
Watching these dramas unfold is like watching a Jack Ass episode, there all accidents waiting to happen, there avoidable, as well as painful to watch.
Not to mention stupid.

Those guys don't know shit about real life, they live in their own oppressed alternative reality, fuelled by the bible and their cramped and ancient beliefs, which condemn everything that's not right to their morals and standards, which they then see as something to fight (it's always declaring war, not doing anything about it, just declaring war (thank you George Carlin)).
Homosexuality is not against nature and it's also not a disease, so it can't and shouldn't be cured.

These fundamentalist christian people are the real perverts, not the gay people.
