It had been a long afternoon on the fifth floor of Wayfarers, Inc. The travel and expeditionary outfitters was a long established company in a rather niche field, but Joshua Ramses was only just becoming locked into his new position as the firm's latest manager and (extremely) junior partner.

"I'm flattered you would choose me," Josh has told his mentor, senior partner Isiah Patterson, "I suppose I should get Margery to work at fixing up the new office suite.

Isiah had chuckled. "I think it's high time we found you someone a bit fresher and appropriate to be your +1 when it comes time for cocktails or dinner parties or the various junkets and conferences your new position will have you attending. No, next thing Ms. Hancock will be doing is bringing in young women for you to do final interviews with to find you a new personal assistant."

Josh had tried to talk Isiah out of this plan, but the elder partner had finally laid everything out and now Josh was slumped on the couch in his office hoping there was an end to this sometime soon. "Margery? How many more do we have out there?"

Margery Hancock's voice came through the intercom, just as it always did, with no hint of any upset or discomfort at basically culling out the applicants who had come to Wayfarers for her job. "Just one more," she said.

"Send her in."

Moments later, there was a knock at his office door and then Margery popped her head in and gave Josh a smile. "Saved the best for last," she said, "just something about this one."

Josh stood and approached the now fully open door and gave the woman standing behind Margery a long once over. He offered his hand with a smile, "Hello, I'm Joshua Ramses." His other hand straightened out his jacket and brushed his lush brownish-red hair back into place after having mussed both while slumping on his couch. "And you would be?" he asked as he took the clipboard from Margery holding the woman's resume and letters of recommendation.

Ivy Stratton was a bit nervous for this interview but made herself look composed as possible. She needed this job, bad. It wasn't that she had a lack of money, she had enough but it was the rest of her life that made her need a job so bad. She was bored, had no friends and basically had a lot of free time with nothing to do. So she needed a distraction, something to keep her busy and what better way then a job? Now she knew she had to be good at her job though and since her last job as an assistant or secretary of a sort she had applied for this job, with very good references from her last job. The only reason she had left there was it was half way across town and a very long drive for her. She may not be desperate for money but it would have dwindled down over time to keep that up.

Now here she was at the interview and trying not to stare at the handsome man that may become her boss. He was downright gorgeous to Ivy so much that she almost went into dreamland before this guy snapped her back to attention asking who she was. So in her light and gentle voice she told him, trying to keep eye contact for once with someone and not look down the whole time. "I'm Ivy Stratton, it's nice to meet you." Ivy then smiled her gentle and sweet smile, not showing teeth, which lucky for her did NOT make her look like she was smirking. Thank goodness. Ivy really wanted to get this job and did not want to look like she was smirking and when she did show teeth in a smile, it didn't usually look the best. Not knowing what else to say and being quite shy, the reason she didn't really have any friends she put her medium length, down to right past her shoulders hair behind her ears. It had actually been that way when she came in but slipped past her ears, which was normally why she put it in a ponytail but for this interview didn't want to come in looking like a plain little girl who wouldn't be a good fit for the job.

Joshua

Josh read the young woman's name, even as she answered him. ""I'm Ivy Stratton, it's nice to meet you," she said with a close mouthed smile. It was cute, but seemed a touch out of place, almost like she was smiling in a way she thought he might like her to smile. He skimmed the resume before him while cutting looks at the young woman who seemed to be trying her best to resist the urge to vanish into the dark corners of his office.

"The pleasure is all mine," Josh told her with a broad smile--full of bright teeth, that he didn't seem bothered about showing off. "I think you'd make a good addition to our team. How soon could you start?"

He wasn't exactly sure what had prompted him to offer her the assistant's job, but there was more to her than the lines on her resume or even what his eyes showed him. Josh took a moment to open his ears and nose more fully and take in Ivy with more than just his sight. [There!] he thought to himself [That's what it is about her...her scent...it's...could it...]

Ivy listened as Joshua said her name, watching quietly as he read her resume, hoping that he accepted her. For some reason, she really wanted to get this job, just to be near him. The money mattered of course but he was really handsome and seemed like he would be a pleasure to work with. If he accepted her of course. Then he spoke after reading her resume and her jaw almost dropped, and excitement bubbled up inside of her. "Well I could start tomorrow if you want, that just lets me get situated. I would be really happy to have this job." Ivy smiled even more brightly, really excited now. Ivy didn't know what else to say though. "Um so is there anything else right now or should I go?" Ivy almost looked bubbly right now, which wasn't her usual look as she waited for his answer.

Joshua

Joshua nodded at Ivy's words. His brilliant smile flashed again as he assured her there was no rush, but that tomorrow would be fine as she could go to Human Resources and get all her paperwork straight and have whatever time is left to the day to familiarize herself with where things were in the office, what his usual schedule was, and then--possibly--have a bit of time to herself in case she needed to take care of anything before buckling down the day after tomorrow.

"Perhaps we should set a time for lunch tomorrow, so we can make sure we're on the same page with that schedule and all?" he commented. Her question remained in his head and he was half tempted to throw he over the arm of the office couch and show her what else there was...but he simply smiled and took another long, lingering look at her from shoes to the top of the hair on her head.

Josh wasn't sure why he really was hiring Ivy or what it was about her that made her seem so intriguing. [Perhaps Phillip would have a better take on it? I'll have to give him a call later.] It wasn't unusual for him to call his brother about company decisions; although, ones concerning his personal assistants wasn't usually among them. They weren't identical twins, but as fraternal ones go, they shared the same interests and tastes in a wide number of things.
