I've recently come to the notion that however open and honest you are in a relationship, there will always a degree of subterfuge and barriers.
This weekend, my ex-girlfriend was staying with me, and took the opportunity to explore my computer porn collection… To my surprise she found it to be a total revelation, and felt that she didn’t know me as well as she had thought.
Further, she asked me to select what I felt to be the single most ‘exciting’ picture from the collection. Not the most beautiful, most explicit, or the raunchiest, but the single image that I felt best turned my dials. Before I presented mine, she took the evening and searched for an image that she felt embodied her own want.
Needless to say, the pictures we exchanged did not remotely resemble any facet of our relationship in body or spirit. It was an interesting exercise to say the least, and spoke volumes about things said and unsaid between us (hers caught me totally off guard featuring a slight female dom motif).
Ultimately, I’m left with more questions then answers:
Is there is a separate sexual mind that we keep exclusive for ourselves alone in the dark?
Or did my ex’s and my own apparent lack of personal insight just limit our own experience?
We both found it very amusing and enjoyed discovering new things about each other, although she suggested that it could have been explosive had we still been a couple…
