Trump has show us repeatedly that he has no interest in forming a more perfect union, establishing justice, ensuring domestic tranquility, providing for the common defense, promoting the general welfare or securing the blessings of liberty for the American people.

Instead, Trump’s interest in having governmental powers seem to be centered on his desire to steal as much money as he can from the American People and shovel it into his failing businesses.

In practical terms, Trump’s business properties now operate as de facto outposts of the U.S. government. When Vice President Mike Pence visited Ireland last week, he first met with the country’s foreign minister at an airport on the country’s western coast, then spent the night at Trump’s nearby Doonbeg golf resort. From there, he traveled to Dublin—which is on the other side of the island—to meet with Leo Varadkar, the head of the Republic of Ireland’s government.

And because of Trump’s blatant and reckless greed, an Air National Guard C-17 crew stopped for refueling at a small civilian airport outside Glasgow, Scotland, and spent the night at Trump’s golf resort at Turnberry. The House Oversight Committee is investigating why the crew stayed at Turnberry instead of other nearby hotels, and why they landed at the nearby private airport instead of U.S. airbases in Britain, where fuel would be cheaper.

Even the president’s domestic resorts are now seen as suitable for hosting high-level diplomatic events. Trump spent part of last month’s G-7 summit defending his administration’s decision to consider his Doral resort outside Miami when the U.S. hosts the annual gathering next year. “I think it’s a great place to be,” he told reporters during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “I think having it in Miami is fantastic, really fantastic.” A casual observer could be forgiven for thinking he was trying to infuse some federal funds into Doral’s depleted coffers.

Trump’s other U.S. properties have also become ersatz civic centers. Republican lawmakers and candidates spent more than $4 million nationwide to host rallies and fundraisers at the sites ahead of last year’s midterm elections. And then there’s the Trump International Hotel in D.C., which has become a gathering point for a certain slice of American politics who want to signal—both in person and in cash—their affinity for the president. Attorney General William Barr is even hosting his annual private holiday party at the hotel in December.

There’s only one problem with this entire state of affairs. Ideally, Trump would enforce a strict separation between the Trump Organization and his administration to prevent the appearance, or reality, of corruption. Failing that, the federal government would have taken these properties to manage on the taxpayers’ behalf so he and his family can’t profit from the presidency. Instead, the president has charted a third course in which the Trump Organization and the federal government blend together in some sort of unholy corporate merger. It may be the most successful hostile takeover in history.

I am starting to see some small rays of hope.

Back when Trump was using the White House as a tool fro stealing money from the American taxpayer and lining his own pockets, the Republicans overwhelmingly supported Trump, but now that Trump has abandoned out Kurdish allies, gotten Kurdish allies killed and helped ISIS terrorists escape from Kurdish prisons, Republicans are starting to abandon Trump, and have begun to support efforts to have Trump impeached.

Getting our Kurdish allies killed may have been the final straw for many Republican loyalists,

Back in 2016, Trump insisted that he had a super-secret, super-foolproof plan to destroy ISIS.

Now, it's 2019, ISIS still hasn't been destroyed, however, Trump HAS just sentenced the Kurds (one of our most valuable allies in the war against ISIS) to be slaughtered en masse.

but...but...trump is a business man. he'll run the government like a business.

Rico?

The Trump organization is a multifaceted crime syndicate. They have already broken enough laws to justify a RICO investigation, which can extend the statute of limitations, enhance penalties and allow separate cases to be tried together.

This stuff is going to be unfolding for years.

And now he’s the keynote speaker at a conservative family values summit. I’ve seen it all.

This whole thread is referring to "The Trump Organization", not the POTUS exclusively.

As for what laws Trump is actually breaking, his AG's note saying that a sitting president cannot be indicted has been keeping indictments sealed. They will be unsealed once he is no longer in office, whenever that may be.

What law(s) is the "Trump organization" breaking? What is the name of the "Trump organization"?

Dickhead. You know damned well because you're happy to propose a ridiculous defence for each and every one of them. You could recite them all for us and you have no interest in having a list from us, just asking to be annoying and on the false premise that if they are not listed then they don't exist. Dickhead.

Wow. You must be one o' them edumacated leftists.

You want facts?

Which laws is President Trump breaking?

You want to know of actual crimes? I don't think they are going to help with that. The name of the game is to make shit up. All they have to do is create an echo of accusation that repeat over and over and some will swallow it.

Doesn't sound like a "hostile takeover of U.S. Government" to me. I'm told that most common citizens commit an average of 3 felonies/day.

Trump is also corrupting our criminal justice system. For example, he pardoned political supporter and former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio under dubious circumstances. Trump also reversed the demotion of then-Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher, charged with several war crimes but convicted only of bringing discredit to the armed services, and vowed not to let the Navy remove him. Instead, Gallagher retired, and Trump met with him at Mar-a-Lago.

According to The Washington Post, Trump has also pressed government employees to break the law, promising them pardons if they’re caught.

This president, who routinely demands investigations and punishment of anyone he feels is disloyal to him, has been impeached for pressing Ukraine to investigate a political opponent. When Democrats didn’t give him a standing ovation during his 2018 State of the Union address, he called it treason.

Trump has also attacked career military and foreign service officers for telling the truth under oath. And in flagrant violation of U.S. government policy, Trump is attempting to out a whistleblower who reported on his nefarious activities. Let’s call this what it is — witness intimidation.

Trump and the GOP want to reduce civil service protections for government employees and regularly attack nonpartisan career civil servants (who are simply doing their jobs) for lacking loyalty to Trump and the GOP. Moreover, Trump and his Republican allies claim that the FBI is a deep state conspiracy that must be purged, while the evidence shows the FBI, like the civil servants, is just trying to do its job.

America once led anti-corruption fight. Now self-dealing Trump is kleptocrats' role model.

Trump has said that if he orders the military to commit war crimes, he expects them to do it. He also wants a justice system, civil service and media loyal to the Trumpified GOP. Meanwhile, his party has abandoned any pretense of trying to get the majority of Americans to vote Republican on the merits, relying instead on gerrymandering, voter suppression, the Electoral College and the Senate (where a small GOP state like Wyoming has the same number of votes as California) to maintain control.

Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine who testified in the impeachment inquiry, said in an op-ed Thursday that President Donald Trump's administration has "undermined our democratic institutions."

Yovanovitch, who retired at the end of last month, was pulled from her post in Ukraine last April after what some of her former State Department colleagues testified was a "smear campaign" against her by Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani. During the Senate impeachment trial, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said removing Yovanovitch cleared the way for Giuliani to pressure Ukraine into opening investigations for Trump's political benefit.

"When civil servants in the current administration saw senior officials taking actions they considered deeply wrong in regard to the nation of Ukraine, they refused to take part, When Congress asked us to testify about those activities, my colleagues and I did not hesitate, even in the face of administration efforts to silence us," Yovanovitch wrote in The Washington Post.

"We did this because it is the American way to speak up about wrongdoing."

The day after the Republican-controlled Senate voted to acquit Trump on two articles of impeachment, Yovanovitch said the U.S. political system was more fragile than many Americans realize and "the last year has shown that we need to fight for our democracy."

"I have seen dictatorships around the world, where blind obedience is the norm and truth-tellers are threatened with punishment or death. We must not allow the United States to become a country where standing up to our government is a dangerous act," she wrote.

She called on people "to stand up for our values, defend our institutions, participate in civil society and support a free press" even "when the odds seem against us, even when wrongdoers seem to be rewarded, because it is the right thing to do."

"I had always thought that our institutions would forever protect us against individual transgressors," she said. "But it turns out that our institutions need us as much as we need them; they need the American people to protect them or they will be hollowed out over time, unable to serve and protect our country."
The former career diplomat said she was shocked by "the storm of criticism, lies and malicious conspiracies" that her testimony sparked, though she added she had "no regrets."

This week Trump has shown every sign of wanting unlimited powers. His State of the Union speech was a foul smorgasbord of authoritarian promises and rhetoric; and his response to the Senate’s entirely predictable vote to acquit him has been not humility but an assertion of raw power. Within minutes of the vote, he was tweeting out a video depicting him winning not just in 2020 but every election for the next several thousand years. It ended with the logo “Trump 4EVA.” There’s a terrifying message here: Trump wants lifelong power, and for him it’s no longer simply a joke, a way to gin up his crowd.

Trump’s acolytes in the Senate are actively pushing for purges. After the acquittal vote, Rand Paul outed the whistle-blower on the Senate floor. Senate Judiciary chair Lindsey Graham, who voted against calling witnesses at Trump’s trial, has repeatedly demanded that those who informed on Trump’s malfeasance be subpoenaed and forced to testify. Over the coming days and weeks, this administration will almost certainly take vengeance against those who testified, spoke out, or voted against Trump over the past few months.

He never had one. Trump just lies a lot.

You're confusing using/paying Trump properties for their services with a hostile takeover of a country.

They are not even in the same ballpark.

That's like accusing a guy of being a Nazi because he keeps a tidy lawn and Hitler liked a well groomed lawn too!!!!
