Words fail us at times like this. They can mislead us as well. In the wake of Tuesday's tragedy, I received a few copies of a horrific piece of e-mail: a verse attributed to 16th century prophet Nostradamus. The eight lines seem to predict the World Trade Center attack and the subsequent
start of World War III. If you've received this e-mail, please don't forward it: it's a malicious hoax. Some of the words do indeed come from
Nostradamus (though they've been spliced, diced, and rearranged to form a coherent prediction). But the most worrisome specifics--lines such as "In
the city of York there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos" and "The third big war will begin when the big city is
burning"--are fabricated whole cloth. Shame on those who would spend their energies spreading fear while we're all so vulnerable.
Unfortunely, the truth of the matter is that Nostradamus died on July of 1556. As to the 1654 prediction..... It is not correct do to the
fact of its late date. I hope that this news and new understanding of Nostradamus helps you find the truth in what some people will say. I will light candle on Friday for the rememberance, and my company as made a donation to the Red Cross fund. I hope all is well with you, and I am also placing the true text of Nostradamus here.

long time will make war,
And then Arethusa will
color a new river red.
Century 6,Quatrain 97
At forty-five degrees,
the sky will burn,
Fire approaches the
great new city,
Immediately a huge,
scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have
verification from the Normans.
Century 9,Quatrain 92
The king will want to
enter the new city,
Through its enemies they
will come to subdue it
Captives liberated to
speak and act falsely,
King to be outside, he will
keep far from the enemy.
Century 10,Quatrain 49
Garden of the world
near the new city,
In the path of the
hollow mountains,
It will be seized and
plunged into the Vat,
Drinking by force the
waters poisoned by sulfur.
