In the beginning, there was man, and there was woman. And there was Alien in the form of the snake. (think about it, it's true!)
Then a whole bunch of years later, the future enslavers of us all decided to make us worship them, but how? They found a newlywed couple and sucked the woman up into their spaceship then put an Alien young inside her. They then sealed her back up and sent her on her way.
A couple weeks later, the woman notices that she's getting in the family way, and she didn't even get that way the fun way. She talks about it to her guy and he refuses to believe it. The Aliens see this and they know this isn't good. So they enter the two's mind and tell them that it's ok. They believe them and keep on going.
Time passes and eventually the woman has to give birth in the manger. We all know this part. In the sky there was the brilliant "Star" in the sky. Star or uncloaked spaceship? Then more flying aliens, calling themselves angels say "Dude, you gotta check this out" to some other dudes, who bring gifts.
The woman gives birth to the Alien in child form. He then grows up and uses his mystical E.T. powers to do the glowing finger thing and heal people and then goes around saying stuff. Eventually there's a scandal and they kill the Alien. Fortunately, another Alien takes on his form and impresses everybody.
Thus religion is created to mold the thoughts and actions of a whole crop of slaves to be later harvested for building stuff.
