She thought her affair with her son was secret until...
The letter came in the mail with the usual assortment of notices and junk mail. It was a plain white legal size envelope. The address had been typed. It had a local return address and zip code though she had never heard of Momson Lane. Maybe, she thought, it was in the new housing development on the edge of town. Janice opened the envelope and took out the two folded pages. She unfolded them and began reading.
Dear Mrs. Brown,
I hope this letter finds you in good cheer and in an adventurous mood. You have a secret admirer, Janice. And you have a few secrets of your own too, don't you? Especially that very special one that you don't dare share with anyone else - except your 20 year old son George.
Oh, yes, I know about that…
Janice is shocked. How? How can anyone know? They've been so careful. What if her husband finds out? Does he already know? Her hands tremble as she continues reading.
…It's a big part of why I admire you. I know you keep it secret because other people wouldn’t understand the special bond between a mom and her son and the kind of excitement you feel with him deep inside that no other man can give you. I do understand. And I know how special it is. But, I wonder, does your husband feel that way, too?
Her hands are shaking so much she can't read anymore. She sobs a bit. She takes a few deep breathes and tries to collect her thoughts. She knows she can't let her husband find out. How could she possibly explain it to him? Maybe this guy just wants money or something, she hopes. She picks the letter up again.
…Maybe he knows. Maybe you've told him. For all I know he could be doing your daughter, Stephanie. It's a good thing none of the neighbors know, though, don't you think? Besides me, that is.
How do I know? I just do. But I haven't told anyone. Your secret is safe with me.
BTW, I don't know if you two have taken selfies of your "mother and son reunions". I've enclosed a nice one for you to enjoy. The two of you look so happy together.
She hastily looks at the second page. Her hands are trembling again. Her naked son is on top of her in missionary position. They both have huge grins on their faces, You can't actually see their genitals together but it's rather obvious they are screwing. Her feelings go completely numb. She can't believe this is happening. How could there be pictures? And how many more are there? How does he know so much about her family? Tears are running down her cheeks. She feels violated. And angry. She finishes reading the letter.
…Let's keep this a secret. I promise I won't tell anyone. But you have to do something for me, too. Tomorrow morning at 10 am be on the corner of Caulkins Road and Mill Street walking west on Caulkins. Wear a red dress. Have your thumb out like you are hitch hiking. A blue van will stop. You will open the door and get in.
You are not that kind of woman? You cheat on your husband with your son and you like him better! We both know that you ARE that kind of woman. You will be there. You don't really have a choice.
Looking forward to our date,
"JL"
Well, are there any Janices who would like to join in? What does Jance do between the time she reads the letter and the blue van pulls up the next morning?
