What are people's opinions on the recent trend to post stories and poems here on the bulletin board, instead of submitting them to Laurel?

I don't like it. It reminds me of little kids that are impatient so they try to jump to the head of the line. I would add pictures to the list, too. There is a special spot at the site for all of these things and it isn't on the general bb.

I agree about the stories being sent to Laurel. It is frustrating to see a potentially interesting topic become a story or series of pictures. I do like the cartoons & smilies, but it is a BB & should be used as such.

Stories and poems on the BB

Stories short or long should IMHO be submitted to the editorial process in place.

The same for Long Assed Posts of poetry.

Short Assed poems I have no problems with, especially if they are expressing a view that is relevent, to the thread or topic.

Perhaps yet another new area of the BB; could be for those who would like to offer, their own work to the board.

If posters are refering to a longer post of either a story or epic poem, post the link on their thread by all means.

I don't have any problem with poetry that addresses the topic at hand, or short vignettes that illustrate a point.

I do get bored with seeing the same links in a dozen different threads. They don't take up much space, and don't slow things down, so they're not worth complaining about.

Whenever I explain about animated smilies or how to link a gif, I always point out that pictures hotlinked from elsewhere on the net will cause the threads to load slowly, or not at all, for people with slow computers and/or connections. Common curtesy therefore dictates that they be kept to a minimum.

I don't complain about much...in fact I'm pretty invisible....but it irritates the hell out of me to see the "recent" story postings of a certain individual...although now that she has been exposed for what she is maybe that will stop.

Now , I enjoy the stoytelling that is pertanant to the thread regardless of how long it may be, and I enjoy the relaying of a real event or occurance as it relates in some way. I am talking about the "Oh that reminds me of a story I wrote, here let me tell you" posts. They ruin some very good threads.

But that's just my opinion

Incessant repetition of any kind is dull. To have that repetition about about oneself, is ridiculous.

Again, I find myself agreeing with WH (I'm going to have to learn to post faster :)), I've declined to post on threads with too many smilies or GIFs simply because with the number of threads we have now, I'm not about to wait for the dumb thing to load.

I would like to point out, there are some folks that use GIFs all the time and always manage to put them in the appropriate threads (thanks Rosebud).

Oops, want to clarify that I meant pictures (like a picture of oneself in a thread instead of just putting it in a profile in the appropriate section of the bb). I also love Rosebud's GIFs, and the general board is exactly where they should be posted.

:( I'm sorry. *sniffle*

I only posted that long ass post on WL's see ya wouldn't wanna be ya trophy thread to tell him something, without actually coming out and saying it. I normally don't post poetry unless its short and is Metallica really poetry? I've wondered that at times.

I promise, no more Batman, I managed to get it not only ended, but its long gone. And the Expertise birthday story on his birthday thread, is done too. One shot shortness. I woulda written it up and posted it on the site, but doesn't Laurel have enough to do already?

So, in closing, I would like to apologize for the story thing. I'm still not thinking the batman story has any place on the site but here, though. Unless of course, its done as one of those collaborative things, where everyone does a character sketch or something.

But anyway.

Aww, KM, don't feel bad. I liked your Batman thread. I'm sorry there isn't more to the Expertise birthday story. If you ever want to post a story or poetry, or anything, I would be happy to post it on my site. Even if it's just temporarily until Laurel can post it here. I'm serious, too. Use me if you want. :D

:) Thanks April. I know they weren't bitching at me, cause they would have done some much sooner and to my face. I just read, and replied to, the story that was most likely the one Whisper was referring to. I found it really irritating that it was posted like that.

The stories I write on the BB can be, and probably are to some, vastly annoying. However, they are just little blurbs of silliness, meant only to make someone else smile, chuckle, giggle, and/or feel special. (C'mon DCL in the Adam West batman gear doing melodramatic dorky stuff? Or DCL in the rigid rubber batman gear doing a better job than George Clooney? Don't tell me that din't make ya smile.)

This chica posted her story on the bb because she was sick and tired of waiting for Laurel to post it on the site. I read the first paragraph. Its not bad, but it seriously needs an editor with strong english skills. I would recommend Gus, since Whispersecret is out of the game.

The poetry/lyrics I posted obviously irritated some people, because there was so many of them. I didn't mean to irritate, just tell WL something without a resurgence of his multiple personalities.

Oh April, how *grins evilly* may I use you? Will you wear the latex catsuit?

For you, I would.

(to quote Sputtering Klown) But, but, but, only if you can get Ex to wear chaps! LOL

LMAO sure, he's gonna wear chaps. Okay right.

Whispersecret darling, I just gave chica of the fully posted site story on a bb board a lil critique of her first sentence of her first paragraph. Wow, thats a lot more than I thought I'd do.

Its probably wrong too, but oh well. Gus didn't do it and he's a wiz with that kinda thing.

It pains, me it surely does, that you're out of the editing business, but thats okay, I can beat Gus over the head with my improper use of English. :) He volunteered. The dialect thing can be a bit of a problem though... hmmm.

KM, I know how frustrating it can be to wait for Laurel to post a story. She has a huge backload, but still it's difficult to be patient. Hopefully, with the new script in place, that problem will be eliminated.

I wasn't pinpointing you in particular. I have no beef with you specifically. :) I think you are an asset to the board, and I don't say that lightly. I just wanted to know if it bothered anyone else. If no one else responded, I was going to shut up and ignore it. :)

I have no idea what or whom you're talking about! Please explain!

That's always the kicker. People who are not the problem feel bad (I liked the Batman thread) and the people who are the problem never read threads like this.

Oh well, it's a good thread, I'm glad you did it.

cheryl someone on the story feedback board.

:)

I wasn't going to say anything, but I can't help you. You guys have me grinning like an idiot now. I'll probably still be grinning tomorrow. Thanks.
