Anyone with a net worth over 250,000 that can be attributed to tobacco should be publicly executed. If that means Al Gore, well, too bad.

Anyone who ever worked for a tobacco company and received a salary over 100,000 a year should be publicly executed.

All tobacco fields in the world should be sprayed with a killing agent.

All tobacco companies, and their vanilla non-tobacco spin-offs should be liquidated, and the money redistributed to everyone on the planet. Even if it's only 5 bucks per person.

And yes, I'm am a x smoker.

I agree. I think it is ridiculous that the FDA can ban or delay cancer-curing drugs, so that people have to go to Mexico to get them.

Yet tobacco, a known cancer-causing drug, can advertise in magazines and billboards to ensnare new addicts.

Thats sounded better in in the original German when they were talking about their little Jewish problem.

Why don't we use those same methods to fix all the worlds problems? Wouldn't that be great.

Come on, be realistic, the only problem with tobacco is the people who smoke it. If no one smoked it, it would cease to be.

So the real way to fix the tobacco problem is to execute all the people who smoke it.

I am saying that as an ex-smoker also. Can anybody guess how I quit?

Who said that??? The people that sold you the shit were too smart to smoke it.

Hey, just cuz you guys kicked the habit doesn't mean you get to piss on those of us who haven't yet. Burning all the tobacco wouldn't help, it would just cause massive riots of nicotine deprived psychotics..(Like me for example)

I was just trying to say something more over the top than WriterDom. I don't care if people smoke. I smoke, I just don't smoke cigarettes. If all tobacco was gone how would I get Dutch Masters to roll blunts with?

Smoke! Smoke all you want. I would be a hypocrite if I didn't let you.

There's a tobacco problem? Really?

I've looked but I don't see one, except if you count the government's full-court press to deny the people the pleasure of a fully legal substance based on a criteria I've not yet discerned.

If that's the problem to which you refer, then yeah, there's one.

They actually read the little white label on the side that said, "Contents of this package gives you the 'eat em up from the inside heebiejeebies?'

You're right, they were smarter.

Let Them Plant Weed!

They'll Replace ALL The Tabacco With Mary Jane, And It'll All Be Fixed:)

Might Not Come Fer A While, But It'll Come!

25 Packs Of Pre Rolled Marajiuana Cigarettes In All The Corner Stores. Prohibition On ALL Liquor Exept Beer & Wine! It's Coming, But When...?

When Will They Pull A Brain Together And Just Get On With It!?

Ohhh PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Don't smokers catch enough shit in RL without catching it here, too? Am I in the Lit "non-smoking" section?? I smoke, yes I do. And even though someone I loved very much died of lung cancer, I do not intend to quit. It's my habit, I enjoy it. No one has ever been "forced" to smoke, it's a Choice!

And all the whiney-ass smokers who sue the tobacco companies because they were not smart enough to realize that inhaling burning paper and weeds into your lungs isn't good for you should be slapped....hard and repeatedly.

While you're burning tobacco fields, please shoot all the cows, too. After all, red meat is terrible for your cholesterol and arteries. Oh, and bring back Prohibition, cause we don't want people ruining their livers or driving drunk.

Bah.

It's merely the epidemic of society. You know the one where freewill has disappeared and all blame is afforded to someone else.
If a gun was pressed to your head, forcing you to smoke a cigarette, then I'd support the previous sputter. Illiteracy is a big problem but by now, who doesn't know that on the pack of cigs, there is a warning?! Geez.

It(smoking,drinking..) is/was/will be a choice. It's not up to the rest of the world to hold your hand.

Heh. Great thoughts ie. burning cows, etc., MidnightAngel.

A better way...shoot all the whiny-ass quitters who cant handle
the habit..get hard or fuck off.
Why then we smokers wouldn't have to deal with their "holier than thou" attitudes.

Written with tongue firmly in cheek by a smoker...

Light(en) up you guys - Each to their own.

smoking is a sexual lifestyle

That's right.... if we call it a fetish or a sexual lifestyle, it would not be politically correct to harass smokers.

It fits all the criteria. It's an oral fixation. It can be done alone but is better when shared with a friend. While it may not be smart, it satisfies some inner desire. You can hide the fact that you are a smoker from others... or you can come "out of the closet".

Smokers have been so misunderstood. We don't have a "vice", we have a "lifestyle". There is obviously no "smart" reason for smoking, so we must need to fulfill some sexual need.

I can't imagine Henry Waxman (D) condemming smokers or the companies that support our lifestyle, once he understands that smoking is a sexual lifestyle.

It's not a lifestyle or vice, it's an addiction.

Actually, smoking is good for the economy. Just think how much social security payments would rise if not for all the dead smokers who die without getting a penny of what they put in. Of course if that evil Bush gets his way, you might be able to pass on a few dollars to your non-smoking kin.

I don't have anything against smokers. (Which is a good thing, since most of my family smokes.) I don't particularly care for it and it's annoying when I visit either of my parents and come home and everything I took with me smells like smoke. But it's their lives and their choices, that's fine with me. I do have a problem with people (any people) thrusting the blame for their decision on someone else. Executing tobacco company execs? Please, give me a break. It's that sort of attitude that made fast food joints have to put up a sign warning all of us stupid consumers that *gasp* coffee might be hot, be careful!

So it's not smokers I have a problem with. It's people who aren't interested in taking responsibility for their actions. "It's not my fault. It's those evil executives' faults! Even tho there's a big warning on the label that these things might kill me, it's not my fault I put them in my mouth, burn, and inhale!"

Just think of how quick the countries economy would go bust if all us smokers and drinkers quit buying for one month.

The tax hike to cover the short-fall would be huge - so stop bitching and thank us smokers for keep your income taxes lower.

Not to mention the increased violence level....jeez a couple of days and I wanna kill something!

As a smoker, I've gotta say that's the stupidest solution I've ever read. Have you noticed that the tobacco companies make all kinds of other stuff too, and it's the tobacco that keeps the companies afloat? Are you willing to give up everything else that these companies provide?

Are we going to attack the breweries and distilleries next? So and so is killed by a drunk driver, and his family decides to sue the company that made the vodka that the driver was drinking... they can already sue the bar... in Chicago, there's a lawsuit pending against Smith and Wesson for making a gun that killed a kid...

I pay well over 12,000 a year in taxes... closer to 16,000 most years. Don't whine to me about tax dollars paying for cancer patients.

Perhaps we should all take a little more personal responsibility and stop looking for someone to blame. I know smoking is bad for me. I do it anyway. I accept that. I know that riding is bad for my knee. I do it anyway. I'll pay out of pocket for my titanium knee replacement when I can't put it off any longer. Nothing that I do is anyone's fault but mine.

And Exactly where would the economy be without the HUGE amount of tax money that the tobacco industry provides? Where would the money come from if everyone quit smoking? How would the government compensate for this revenue loss? Would YOU be willing to pay double or triple tax on income, gasoline, etc.?

And Social Security? I'm NOT depending on it to be there when I'm retirement age.....smokers or no smokers. The government has run THAT program into financial ruin without any help.

THATS PATHETIC....EVER HEARD OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY??
What about the idiot that pulled the trigger..or did the gun leap out of its cupboard and shoot the kid itself (not making fun coz a kid got killed..thats a tragedy)

Thats like getting run down while crossing the street so you sue Nissan coz it was a Maxima that hit ya....for FUCKS SAKE.

That would get laughed out of court in 90% of the countries of the free world. ONLY IN AMERICA-HOME OF THE LAWYERS.

You smokers take things way too seriously.

But I have to reply to this comment. By your argument, we should encourage people to smoke. I guess we should pass out a carton to every 9th grader on the first day of school.

smoking brings in 3 times what the income tax does? I kinda doubt that.

I know, it's pathetic. Actually, the lawsuit has been amended. It was originally filed against ofer 100 manufacturers and distributors, and they were forced to narrow it down to the manufacturer and distributor of the actual gun that was used in the murder.

Maybe guns should come with warning labels... "Warning: Pointing this weapon at someone's head and pulling the trigger may result in injury or death."

Why aren't they suing the ammo manufacturer?

This thread is just stupid. While I have seen that most of you replied like adults, it was started off childishly and will probably end that way. Who was it that said to each their own??? I agree with that... non-smokers need to shut up...smokers already can't smoke in most public buildings so the non smokers won't have to breath in the 2nd hand smoke...so if non smokers don't have to breath it in then shut up...smokers have rights too...they have the right not to listen to any bullshit about what they are doing to their own bodies...

Smoking....It's not a lifestyle or vice, it's an addiction. That can be said about almost everything. LoL

yeah, right. That's why they have M&M patches to help people quit the M&M habit. Billions of people world wide MUST have their daily fix of M&Ms. If they stop, even for a few hours, they get real edgy. Many try hard to quit but fail. But who can blame them? Nothing like a good M&M after sex or dinner.

Of course, they also have M&M gum to help the M&Mers quit also. There are even anti M&M drugs you can get from your doctor.

Perhaps not, but there are millions of people who are food addicts. Try being addicted to something you can't just cut out of your life; not just beause of addiction, but because you'd die if you did.
