The Thought-Provoking Thread

Which of these "what ifs" is most troubling to you?

  • What if there was life on Mars, but the Mars Rover landed on it?

    Votes: 2 12.5%
  • What if we have to keep doing everything over until we get it right?

    Votes: 9 56.3%
  • What if the Jehovahs' Witnesses are right?

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • What if Walmart starts a European division?

    Votes: 1 6.3%
  • What if this thread uses up the last few feet of empty thread?

    Votes: 3 18.8%
  • What if all of the good topics have been used up already?

    Votes: 1 6.3%

  • Total voters
    16
Definitely the second. I'd never get it right.

And in answer to the good Dr, what if we have something to say, but no one thinks it's worth hearing? :rose:

Edited to add: Or what Sher said? :D

No. 2 I couldn't bear, but then it wouldn't matter if no. 3 were true.

that depth preception can be measured only by the ability to detect depth, and does a shallow pool not have depth?

What if this thread uses up the last few feet of empty thread?

It is obselete.

So therefore you weren't attentive to the foot.

:D

Ch., my feet are always well protected, as are my favourite verbs. P.

Well sure, I would be happy to expand on my original thought.

:D

The hypotheticals listed and the question asked seem to have one common thread heheh. that runs through them.

Even if we had the correct answer for the instances posed,
there's nothing we could do to prevent or alter them.

What does it all mean, as asked?

Futility

...or, the correct answer could be 42, which works more often than not.

Good god! Your' asking ME about grammar? You don't have to act, I will just remove the stockings myself - passive baby, passive.

(P - bad girl - you forced me to ruin a thread!!!! Damn YOU and your solicitous ways.)

Charlus, what's with the hysterics? This is the thought "provoking" thread. You said something that provoked a thought from me so I made a riposte.

My feet are grateful.

Perdita

It doesn't mean a damned thing. :rose:

Edited to add: See how easy it is to get a derailed thread back on topic?

What if the Jehovhas Witnesses are right about what?

Has anyone ever listened to them?

Rover ate my Mars bar.

I'm still at odds with all of the unprovoked thoughts I have,
Now you're confusing me, rum. How can you know you have unprovoked thoughts? Or do you have a secret cache of wandering thoughts? useless thoughts? meaningless thoughts? squandered thoughts?

It's part of knowing the unkowns that are still unkown but we know that they exist. They are just unknown unkowns.

Here, this guy said it best.....:D
Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - - the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.
Donald H. Rumsfeld, Department of Defense news briefing, February 12, 2002

O, rum. Quoting Rum - omigod! your names start w/the same 3 letters. That is too provocative for me.

adoo, Perdita

I'm not sure if I feel safer with that mind in charge of defending the country.

If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much.
