There has been a series of stories on ABC TV channels about the "Thigh Gap". Apparently many High School girls are seeking it and feeling that it is a measure of how sexy they look. It is defined as that gap that sometimes exists at the very top of the thighs where they do NOT come together. If anyone has seen Veronica's Secret specials it is frequently obvious in some of their models.
I'm wondering what percentage of guys and separately what percentage of girls think this is sexy.
I will not offer an opinion at the moment but would love you to tell me in the poll if you think it is sexy..

I remember seeing an asian girl wearing skinny jeans and heels walking towards me on the sidewalk of a busy downtown street in a major west coast city. I swear to god her hips were displaced as she had at least 2" of thigh gap (15 years before I'd heard the expression). I remember it because it was so odd and strangely hot. She was an attractive slender (possibly with an eating disorder though I didn't get that impression [ie, not a gaunt face]) woman and I of course imagined her knees beside her ears almost straight away. More of a thought that just sort of goes through ones head at the time and is not obsessed about.

And now I read about this thigh gap sensation that are causing your women anxiety and I think back on criteria to which I base attraction. And I can say with 99% certainty that I've never looked at a women's thighs and thought "well, she'd be hotter with a gap between her thighs."

Sorry - doesn't do it for me.

Give me a real girl with real curves any day.

I cycle every day and still don't have a gap. :(

Don't feel bad... I can guarantee you, there are people who find your exact body type absolutely delicious. You don't need a thigh gap to be attractive. A naturally occurring thigh gap is not bad, nor is a natural lack of one bad. Being what nature destined you to be (assuming exercise and no gross over- or under-eating) is sexy.

Nik richie who coined the term requires a 4 finger gap. I don't require that much, but if your thighs touch you are probably a fat pig. I blame the blacks fir all the fat women out there. They made it fashionable to be fat. They helped fat girls gain self esteem.. I'm glad that fat us finally out, and we can get back to fat girls having low self esteem and dieting.

I second that.

Edit: Damnit, slow posting made it look like I agreed with Trolltroll - that was not the case.

It was the post above that which I agreed with.

I'm going to be a radical (big surprise there! :D ) and not vote. I think the answers are too pigeon holed.

I like thick thighs (or as my dad used to say "tick ties"). That said, I like women who are generally fit as well.
I haven't ever heard of this "thigh gap" concept.

If I understand it though, I think the concept is a little flawed, because it has to deal with height as well. Shorter women are prone to have thicker thighs while taller women have thinner thighs. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule. Taller women with thinner thighs are going to have this gap, while shorter women would have less of a gap.
...Right?

I'll have to think about this further and see if I can't come up with a better answer...
Until then, I'll just act like "Goose" from TopGun and say "Hell, I'd be happy to just find a girl that would talk dirty to me."

Just cycling won't do the trick... You can cycle everyday and never have an inner thigh gap if you are eating Bon bons and potatoe chips. Cut down on the sugar and carbs and one day even you can have an itg.

If you cycle everyday and have plateaued with your weight loss you are definitely eating incorrectly. Don't let these sympathetic douches around here tell you that they enjoy a "real" woman. Cut back on your carbs... In fact cut them completely out of your diet until you have at least a 2 finger itg. At that time start adding good carbs like oatmeal and sweet potatoes back into your diet.

While I won't disagree with the rest of your statement, the above segment of your comment is incorrect. Weight loss coming to a plateau does NOT (necessarily) mean incorrect eating habits.

Weight loss involves muscles effectively working off calories. However, muscles that are worked routinely become "used to" the workout and thus a plateau is achieved. This is why you should routinely change your routine.

Also, it matters on what types of foods you eat. Some "good foods" tend to cause the body to retain water more than others, natural sweets (e.g. oranges for one) being primary.
Professional body builders will who are going into a show will tend to reduce intake of natural sweets and water to get the most "lean" look they can (reducing their body fat to below safe margins).

So not very "definitely".

Carbs are the key... Bodies work better in ketosis. Body builders are usually the most unhealthy healthy people in the world. Most reduce body fat by using testosterone and steroids. They also completely dehydrate before competitions. I still don't think the cycling is the problem. You can always go faster and further. Your advice would work if we were talking about a person that plateaued at 120 pounds... We are talking about someone that has no itg... Which im assuming put her over 150 pounds.

150 is about 10 stone/64kg? Yeah, that's about right. I'm quite short as well.

Keep cycling, and cut the carbs out completely for 1 month. I guarantee you will drop 15-20 pounds

Depends on the girl for me, but from what I've seen so far, leads most women to look like they have an eating disorder/something wrong with them. For the select few that it does look good on I'm fine with it, but by far the majority it just doesn't fit with the rest of their body type.

No. I like women with curves and I completely disagree with pretty much everything TrollTroll420 says. But then again, he's a troll so I kinda expected to.

Don't worry, there is an abundance of fat chicks out there for you. Curves are good, but fat is unhealthy and disgusting.

I also dislike the super skinny models, with bones showing.

what I try for is a lean but healthy look, and not freak about a little 'pinch' here and there.

BTW, you don't have to be super skinny to have a bit of thigh gap...

God damn airka... If that's really you in your profile... You should mosey on over to the ampic section. Fuckin hot!

HAVE never heard of such a thing. Are there any pics to demonstrate? Can't quite picture it in my mind
