Hi All,

I'm itching to start up a theme I've done a few times before, with successful results. A description is below. I know it's long... if you're the kind of person who will read the whole thing, you're the kind of person I want involved with this thread!

Any and all ideas, suggestions, character proposals, etc, are welcome. This is a multiplayer thread that's open to anyone, and, as it has many layers, I think there's something for everyone here...

Current Players

justabrick- Sunburst, a serious Orange, who knows the value of loving support, as well as the power of proper punishment.
Erlind- A violet, initiated into the temple by a yellow (Open role alert! :) )
fifelass- A yet-to-be-named Green, eager to start her new role on the Farm as a servant to The Light.

The Temple of Light is a religious (many say cult) center, based in San Francisco, California. The center itself is a colorful old Victorian mansion, three stories high, on a tall hill. The religion housed therein, and in locations throughout the United States is known to practitioners simply as "The Light", and sometimes known to others as The Cult of Colors. Members are divided into Colors (some experts describe these as castes, though members of the religion will deny that label, explaining that one member is just as important as another), and based on these Colors, their habits are strictly controlled, from diet to social and sexual activity. Except for Violets, members are given a synonym of their color as a name.

The Colors

The Temple of Light uses color to divide its members. Color serves not only to determine the role of each member, but the members they are allowed intimate relations with (primary colors- Blue, Yellow and Red- only being allowed to socialize with primary colors, and secondary colors- Violet, Orange and Green- only with secondary colors), as well as the color of the food they prepare for the communal dinners in the Temple.

Because of its focus on colors and the rainbow, the Temple has come under criticism from conservative Christian groups as a gay cult, which its members deny, saying that they welcome sexual identities of all kinds, but that the group itself isn't a homosexual group. The Temple has also come under fire from racial minority advocacy groups as a white supremecist group, because of its imagery of Blacks as outcasts, and The Light, or white, at the top, but Temple members are quick to point out that members of every racial group are a part of the Temple, at every color level.

Violet- Uninitiated members of the general public are said to be 'violet'. In this way, everyone has a place in the religion, according to its leaders. Violets are targeted by the religion (see Yellow) and invited to special "Color Dinners", where they are literally seduced into the folds of the temple. (See Blue Dinners) Before their conversion to Blue, members of the Temple are forbidden to have relationships with Violets.

Blue- Once initiated at a Blue Dinner, a Violet becomes a Blue, upon sitting down to eat, drinking the special aphrodisiac Blue Tea they are served, and accepting a Color Amulet from the Yellow they have met. Blues are then taken to bed with the Yellow. Blues then undergo a period (between a week and a month) of education and indoctrination about the religion. Typical targets for recruitment include new immigrants, and young members and outcasts of society- people for whom a free meal and roof would be a great benefit.

Green- Once an Orange has decided it is time, a Blue becomes a Green, and enters a period of heavier indoctrination, as well as service to the Temple, performing various duties in its service. Greens bond sexually as well as spiritually with their Orange mentor. Towards the end of their indoctrination, Greens are sent out into the world outside the Temple, and allowed to interact with Violets, as they sell flowers, the main income for The Temple.

Yellow- Yellows serve to recruit Violets into the Temple, by inviting them to a Blue Dinner, giving the gift of the Color Amulet, and working with the Blues to educate them as to the ways of the Temple. Because they are both primary colors, Yellows are allowed to seduce Blues, but not Violets.

Orange- Oranges serve as religious teachers within the temple. They work (and are encouraged to have intimate relations) with the Greens under their tutelage.

Red- Reds are virtually the highest level of advancement for members of the temple. There are only a handful of Reds, and they serve as administrators of the Temple's various facilities. They take orders only from "The Light". Typically, Reds have little time for anything but dedication to the temple, but they are allowed to socialize with both Yellows and Blues.

"The Light"- The Light, as he is known to Temple members, is the religious leader of The Temple of the Light. Unlike the other colors, The Light is unrestricted as far as social and sexual partners, as He (or She- the exact identity of The Light is unclear) is said to be composed of all colors. The Light, both as an individual and as a concept, is the focus of the lives of the Temple members.

Black- Violets who reject the teachings of the Temple, as well as those members of the Temple who lose faith in its leaders, and leave, are said to be Black. They are shunned and sometimes threatened by the cult.

In its unknown lifespan, The Temple has seen several generations of members. When two primary colors produce a new Temple member, the child is raised as the color combination of the two parents. For example, a Red mother and Yellow father would produce a son or daughter raised to be an Orange. When a pair of secondary colors, such as a Green and an Orange, procreate, their offspring inherits the color common to both the parents- in this case, Yellow.

Facilities Owned by The Temple:

The Farm: The Temple owns a sprawling tract of land, an unknown location in the North-Eastern United States. The Farm is a major source of food for the other facilities of The Temple, and a place where members, especially new recruits, can be removed from the distractions of Violet life. Facilities on The Farm include a barn, several acres of fields, and the moderately-sized cabin known as The Cottage.

The Temple itself: A towering Victorian mansion in San Francisco, and the administrative center of The Temple. This is also the main recruiting center for the cult.

The religion is growing, and more facilities may be added as time progresses.

I did read the whole thing, so I guess I'm interested. It does have me curious if nothing else. Though I'm not sure what I'd play as.

That's a start... :)

Some things that might start you off... Do you want to be dominant, or submissive? What kind of character traits, and flaws, might your character have? Are they a new convert, or have they been there a while? I'll post a character this evening.

Hm, I guess I'd like to play a violet becoming a blue. Maybe some one who came to that initiation dinner just trying to learn more about the organization, never intending to join, but finds himself in over his head. I'll keep thinking about this and I'll post a character.

Ooh, I like that idea! I've played this as a Yellow seducing a female Violet, but I think it'd be interesting to have the sexes reversed. I also think it would be interesting to have a female Light this time, which I don't think has happened yet.

I'm interested in being an Orange this time around, teaching a female green (or more?) how they ought to behave... here's a character...

Sunburst, at age 36, doesn't remember what name he had as a Violet. He had been initiated into the Temple many years ago, as a teenager. Before the Temple, he was weedy and shy, hardly approaching anyone, especially girls he might be interested in. The temple had taught him that with the proper guidance, these were challenges he could overcome. After being accepted into the Temple as a Blue, then broken of his Violet habits as a Green, and faithfully serving the temple as a Yellow, Sunburst now inhabited the Orange Hall of the temple, assigning work tasks and memorization of religious doctrine to the Greens under his tutelage and command.... and every once in a while, exacting punishment where punishment was due. While he preferred a kind touch to a harsh one, Sunburst knew the power that force, if wielded correctly, could have.

Sunburst had always heard stories about The Light, and all of them seemed to conflict. He'd heard from a Red that The Light was a stern, stone-faced man, while a fellow Orange swore he'd heard she was a gentle, kind young woman. It didn't make sense to Sunburst, but all the confusion heightened his interest in serving, and perhaps one day meeting, The Light.

Any females interested? I don't think Erlind and I can do it on our own... no, I'm sure we can't... ! ;)
Other men definitely welcome as well.

Thought I'd write out a few character description elements, to hopefully get some creative juices flowing for potential players:

Birth Name (or has it been so long they've forgotten?)
Cult name:
Age:
Physical Description: (I always appreciate pics, personally :) )
Bio: Including, why were they attracted to the temple in the first place? What was the flaw the cult exploited, and what do they believe they are getting out of their participation here?

As always, additional details are welcome :)

golden

Samantha Clark was an almost forgotten person as Wave, as she was known by her fellow members of The Temple of Light, grew more and replaced the bedraggled teenager who had been recruited about 16 months ago.

Now the tall skinny girl had turned 20 and had matured into a curvaceous woman whose sexuality oozed from every pore, her long wavy hair was the colour of wheat ripened by the blazing summer sunshine, her eyes were like a clear blue sky - pale but bright.

In her former life she had been forced into leaving home at the hands of an abusive father and had been living on the streets when found on one of the recruiting drives . She had welcomed the friendly face and the promise of a better life , without undeserved punishment, love , food and warmth and a home forever. She had broken down in tears of joy as they travelled to the Farm leaving her dreadful old life to start something new.

Now just over a year later she had just been promoted to green and was under the tutelege of Sunburst. She couldn't wait for her education in The Light to progress .

Birth Name: Jack Corso
Cult Name: Not yet given
Age: 23
Physical Description: See Picture
Bio: Jack is trying to do a story for a local paper on the cult. He's been trying to get hired as a permanent reporter, but has been unsuccessful. He's hoping by infiltrating the cult he'll get enough of a story to get him a job. Jack is scheduled to attend a blue dinner, but he doesn't know what happens there, it might be enough to keep him in the cult.

Jack is pretty unattached in the city. His parents are out in Illinois and he hasn't made any close friends. Journalism is his dream, but he's been having a tough time getting work and has started drinking. In the mean time he's taken a couple of part time jobs, but no where he's really happy. The cult will likely be much more appealing than he thought.

golden

Golden was a vivacious redhead with the classic green eyes of her Irish ancestry. Her ample breasts proved to be an alluring quality when it came to recruiting violets - be they male or sometimes female. This was something she had been taught to play on in her old life as well as her role within The Light.

At 26 she was still one of the younger yellows but just made her more determined to redeem herself in her seniors eyes. She was not your typical yellow as in she did not got after violets like a lioness stalking her prey, she was one of those who actually believed in what she was promoting.

True Name- Richard Renruka
Color Name- Rain-in-the-Arctic-Wind
Age-19
Discription- A relativly lanky male of (mostly) amerindian and mongaloid stock. Little muslce tone, but not fat etheir. Little over 2 meters tall. Wears his jet black hair neatly trimmed and rounded, but not in the coconut sort of style. Wears sideburns and a light chin stubble, but otherwise cleanshaven. No visable scars or tatoos.

Bio- To be perfectly honest, Richard never wanted to be here. As the heir to the family's software empire, he was happly enjoying his bussniess studies in collage when he came to San Fransico for a short vaction. That's where it all went down hill. There was a yellow, her name was Topaz, who had a couple of reds on her back for not meeting her recruitment quota. They even threatened to demout her back to green, something she wasen't willing to accept. So, in the name of the Light, she turned towards more, grey means. She set herself up in one of the local 18+ clubs, carrying a pistol in a secure location, and waited for somebody to wander by. Guess who that was? Richard came by with a couple of his collage mates, and set themselves down to enjoy the night when Topaz's hired hands, a couple of nice, young girls, came over to take his freinds away "private like" Needless to say, once he was alone in the dark coroner, he was easy prey.

She dragged him along, keep her gun pointed beneth his coat to insure he diden't try anything stupid, and took him into THe Temple. Still know she could hunt him down, he plays along, hoping he can find a chance to escape.

hi there hoping justabrick gets back on soon to kick start things again. we can do with more players storyline has great potential

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday... can't post every day, just keeping busy with work and stuff. Will post as soon as I can... I've had my next post floating in my head!

Welcome, swordandsaddle! Great character idea. I'm a little concerned about bringing people into the temple so forcefully, in the past it's always been more 'attracting' them. Maybe I'm being a little picky, but it seems to me that's more the way cults work, making people believe the group is what's best for them, which is why they stay.

no worries justabrick felt a bit like we had hijacked it is all . look forward to my punishment ;)

That's persicly why I had the concept the way I did. I creates a more, how shall I say it, tence atmosphere, since he still has to try to get away, but has to act like he dosen't.

Sorry for not responding... things are pretty busy in my life the next couple weeks!

I don't want to keep you back, feel free to start in the IC thread, if you can find a partner...

Bump.

We could use some more ladies here. It would be cool to get more people in general involved so there could be some of the interaction that I've loved reading in group threads. And at the moment to get more people in general involved we could specifically use more ladies.
