He got the car from Shelby. It was one of two original dual supercharged 427 cars built by Carroll himself.
The man who bought it from Cosby died in a crash with the vehicle.
The other of the two cars, Carroll's car (the Supersnake), sold on Barret Jackson for 5 Million dollars, the proceeds went to charity, and it's still one of the highest auction prices BJAA has experienced.
May god give him a racetrack, an autoshop, and a new car of his choice.
A man that legends are made from. An awesome individual and a true master of speed. If it wasn't for his height and inability to fit into the small cockpits of racecars, he would have added trophies to his wall as well. God rest you, Carroll, the road is open and yours to drive.
Interestingly, just the other day I walked past an Aston Martin, an AMG Merc, and a Shelby Cobra GT500, all neatly lined up outside a lawyers’ office. As an epileptic, I’m not allowed to drive anymore; but I couldn’t help thinking that, if I could, I know which car I would have chosen from that little line-up. Goodnight, Mr Shelby.
A tricky choice for me, of course. I've never knowingly seen a Shelby Cobra, so I'm in a bit of a jam. Patriotism drags me towards the Aston Martin (of unknown type). Of course, if there's been a Jaguar E-type in the line-up, there's have been no hesitation whatever.
But has anyone stopped to consider how good the AC car is?; the one Shelby used as a 'base car' ?
