Walter Lippman was a prominent pundit of the 20s but I find his scribbles to be unintelligible, mostly cuz he packed his essays with multisyllible words. He had profound insights about writing yet couldnt articulate the ideas. I call that sort of concealment VICTORIAN. That is, during Victorias reign people wore too many clothes, creating discomfort and obscurity of the human form. Henry James comes to mind.
