The idea of another week of touring was taking it's toll on Rebecca Madden. These past few months happened almost in a whirlwind of instant celebrity status. It seemed like a dream, but like all dreams, reality had to kick in. Managers and recording labels fighting with each other, wanting more money, more from the band but also, more from Rebecca.

Well, one more week and then she would be able to go on a much needed break.

It was a funny thing to think of it like that. Like she was thinking before, years before, she had been a struggling singer, barely making ends meet while in NY. Of all places. But still, she had a place to stay and food to eat. Not much of both but she was surviving.

Now, she had a penthouse near Central Park, a maid and someone to watch after her daughter while she was away.

Her daughter. Andrea. Only 4 years old and the only reason Rebecca worked so hard. She wanted a good life for her child..at least a lot better than Rebecca ever had in life. She could give her that much since she couldn't give her a father.

No. The sad fact was that her child was the result of a one night stand with a stranger. Thomas Whitney. Well, at least that was the name he had given Rebecca when they met that one faithful night after one of her shows. It seemed odd too, Thomas didn't seem the sort of person to hang out in that type of club. But still, he fit in. He was so handsome that Rebecca fell for him instantly. He was cool and collected. He had a 'don't fuck with me' attitude exuding from him.

He was tall too, at least 6'4" to Rebecca's 5'6" frame. He wasn't over muscled but nor was his scrawny. Lean and moved liked a cat.

There had been no one since him.

New York City

That Night

“Is the boss secure?”

Troy nodded moving his big hulking frame out onto the balcony, his large brutish fingers fumbled pulling out a cigarette and lighting it before taking a long drag. His partner Tony “the tiger” Newot was smoking as well watching the skyline of the big apple as he enjoyed his smoke. The penthouse suite they were in provided them a spectacular view of the city. Troy always liked being up here, it made him feel like a king among men powerful in control it was some thing he longed for growing up in the slums and it was only his skill in boxing that made it all possible.

“He’s secure” Troy said nodding “I can’t believe some one put a hit out on the boss”

“Man’s one of the biggest drug dealers on the east coast” Tony reminded him taking another long drag “Isn’t all that surprising some on wants to take him out”

“I guess” Troy said taking another long drag “Heard from the team downstairs yet? They supposed to check in any minute”

“Not yet” Tony said leaning against the railing “boss is going to be pissed if they break protocol”

Before Troy could answer they both heard the sound of the penthouse elevator coming up.

“What the” Tony murmured pulling out his silenced nine-millimeter “Those idiots know there not supposed to use the elevator while we are on lockdown”

Troy pulled his knuckle-dusters out and nodded following Tony back into the expansive living room and towards the elevator. It was probably one of those idiots wanting to get some food but Troy knew the boss might be watching and wanted to take no chances. Rodrigo trusted him made him his personal bodyguard, took him off the streets and made him into a new man. The others might not believe in being professional but Troy was going to make damn sure he did.

They reached the elevator just as it slid open causing them both to jump and Tony to raise his guns. The elevator however was empty with not a single sign to explain why it had come up in the first place. Troy heard Tony murmur about the faulty elevator and he relaxed allowing him self to believe the boss was safe.

Then the lights went off

It happened suddenly plunging the room into darkness, Troy heard Tony make another string of curses before suddenly being cut off as if his mute button was hit. Troy backed up the hairs on the back of his neck beginning to stand up as he reacted to a presence in the room.

One that was not Tony

He stepped out of the shadows a devilish smile on his face as he regarded the brutish man, he was tall and lean and the way he moved made Troy think of a Panther on a nature show he watched once. The man was wearing a pair of jeans and a grey long sleeve shirt with two arm holsters, the guns were tucked in safely but Troy could smell the faint gunpowder in the air that told him they were used recently.

“All the guards downstairs are dead” The man said running a hand through his close cropped black hair and scratching idly at his chin “Your friend over there is as well”

Troy opened his mouth to speak but found he couldn’t, the man’s eyes were just so damn unnerving! They were a brilliant emerald green shining in the light as he starred him down. Troy felt very very small a feeling he at 6’5 had never experience in his life.

He didnt like it at all

The thought made him angry and he used the anger to push himself into action, he shot out a quick boxer combo a barrage of vicious upper cuts that made him famous in the circuit. The man seemed prepared for it thought dancing out of the way nimbly as he continued to watch him with those taunting green eyes.

“That intel on you was pretty solid” the man remarked flipping over the chair and smiling “You are a pretty impressive boxer in your own way”

He dodged another punch and shot out with his left foot, his steel toed combat boots slamming into Troy’s leg and causing him to holler in pain. He fell to the floor falling onto his knees and struggling to get up. The man however was already on him grabbing his head with his nimble fingers and tilting it to look up at him.

“Sorry about this” the man said before giving a quick twist

…………………….

Thomas Whitney stepped out of the penthouse pausing to lock the door behind him before he walked to his motorcycle as he walked he noticed a speck of blood on his grey shirt and scowled. He would have to pre treat it now and doctor it before he put it in the wash which would only serve to frustrate him. Why did the crime boss have to splatter so much? Did he know it was rude to bleed on another man when dying?

It was no matter the money he made off of this hit would be very satisfying and the man was dead so he could forgive him for the slight rudeness. Besides New York City was his favorite town to be in and he was already looking forward to buying his loft tomorrow and settling back in. He was currently very very rich and was taking a break from the jet setting assassination game (until he got bored at least). He was back! And itching to have some fun.

And maybe even see an old flame

The Next Day

He pulled up to the recording studio and stepped off shrugging his shoulders and taking in the sites of the city. He was dressed again in jeans and a black long sleeve shirt one that high lighted his lean figure and showed off his muscles. He was wearing his favorite cologne and he strolled into the building with his patented sexy smile on. It would seem his musical flame Rebecca was doing quite well for herself but he wasn’t surprised. Her talent was impressive even he could see that, it was only by pure luck he found himself at one of her shows during his brief run in New York a few years ago. He wasn’t a big club person by any means and merely went to “try it out” then to bear any actual fruit. He was a man who lived by the motto “try any thing once because if you don’t you wont ever know if you like it” it served him well and that night it provided especially fruitful. She came on stage singing her heart out and dancing to the music and Thomas was smitten captivated even! He felt his heart stirring to the music and resolved to meet her after the concert ended. Meet her he did two drinks turning into ten flirting smiles turning into hungry kisses and ultimately a long passion fueled night at the hotel room he purchased. Of course he left her the next morning resolving to get in touch with her but ultimately leaving New York for a high profile job now that he was back however he was eager to se if things could perhaps continue where they left off.

He was hungry for her

“Hi” He said smiling charmingly at the receptionist “I am here to see Rebecca”

“Uh” The woman said blinking off guard by his looks “Do you have an appointment?”

“No” Thomas replied kindly “But I think she will be interested in seeing me tell her Thomas Whitney is here to see her with flowers” He said revealing the bouquet of roses he had purchased for her. He had no idea if she would be interested in seeing him since he left her in a one night stand but he was hoping the flowers might make her more interested.

If not he might have to worm his way into seeing her

Rebecca had been busy all morning long in the studio, working on the last part of the new album due to be released in 4 months. Just in time for nominations for the next Grammys.

Usually, this wasn't something she cared so much about but during the last two years, she had been nominated and hadn't won. This time though, she knew she worked her ass off for it. For Rebecca, it wasn't about winning some stupid little gold phonograph had been part of her dreams ever since she was a child. Now, she was in the position to earn one. Not for fame...but for proof she made it the music industry.

The song, Slow Love, currently being edited was going to be her first release in a few weeks..something to anticipate before the album release. It was a risky move but still, it would be one that proved a risk worth it.

Most of the staff had gone on break, leaving Rebecca there by herself, rearranging some of the vocals when the phone rang. She looked up from the engineering board and saw no one around to answer it. With a sigh, she stood up and went to answer it.

"There's a Thomas Whitney here to see you Ms. Madden... he has flowers also."

Rebecca dropped the phone.

After all this time he was here?!

Hearing "hello??" "Ms. Madden?" from the other end of the phone, Rebecca quickly recovered and picked the phone up, "Yes... I mean, no, I don't want to see him." She said, slamming the phone down.

Why was she mad?! Why didn't she want to see the last man she had slept with?!

Why didn't she want to see the father of their daughter?

"Shit!" Rebecca exclaimed and grabbed her bag and cellphone.

Then she stopped herself.

Why was she going to run? He was the one who had left that night. Never to contact her again. Oh no, he was the one who was going to answer her questions, not the other way around. Quickly, she grabbed the phone on the desk and dialed up the receptionist, "Wait...go ahead and send him up." She said before abruptly hanging up.

Sitting near the engineering board, Rebecca tapped her foot as she waited. Her anger growing more each passing minute.

Then finally, the door to the studio opened and Rebecca stood as Thomas entered.

God he was just as handsome as the night they had met.

Asshole.

Before he could say anything, Rebecca threw her phone directly at him, "Hey! Nice to see you!" She threw her purse next and then looked around for something new to throw!

Thomas had fended off bullets, grenades, throwing knives, and once before a high-heeled shoe. So he was more then prepared for the unslaught of things she began throwing at him. He felt his eye twitching and his anger rising and forced him self to calmly bat the things away. He didn’t like having things thrown at him but he supposed he deserved it for up and leaving her in the middle of the night. It wasn’t usually his style to get involved with some one again for this exact reason and he once again questioned why he was here instead of say finding some “Fresh meat”.

He supposed she touched him in a way or at least captured his interest. When he got back to New York his first interest was in trying to find her and get things going again. He didn’t know if he was “boyfriend” material but he wanted to at least see what this was with her. She stirred feelings in him the heartless killer hadn’t felt in a very long time.

Plus she was sexy as hell and a great lay

“It’s nice to see you to” He said smiling as she began looking for some thing to throw “I thought I might get back in touch with you after I got back from my tour in Iraq” He said pulling out the flowers and putting his best and most sincere smile on.

“I don’t know if I ever got a chance to tell you but Petty Officer Third Class Thomas Whitney is my full tittle” He explained using one of his many aliases “I left you a note saying I would get in contact with you but I left shortly after on my ship to do a tour in Iraq I’m really sorry for giving you the impression I wasnt interested in you but I thought about you often and made sure to get out and move here after my tour to try and see if I couldn’t invite you out for lunch”

It was technically true, there was a Thomas Whitney who was in the Navy said Thomas Whitney was actually dead and had been for years.

He was the one who killed him

He placed the flowers down and scooted back raising his hands warily “I mean it I didn’t mean to leave you like that but I did really enjoy our time together and your music I had every intention of being with you again and inviting you out I mean our night together was….” He paused for effect “amazing Didn’t you think so?” he asked giving her his patented sexy smile.

Rebecca was huffing. Her chest rising as she took deep breaths to calm herself down. Goddamn, he looked good.

"Petty Officer?" she repeated as she crossed her arms under her breasts and stared at him. Not believing he was here...after all this time. "I got the note...very considerate of you." she said, trying not to sound too harsh.

Why was she mad?

Her thoughts rushed back to that night. Yeah, it was amazing.

"Yeah..amazing.." she repeated her thoughts, her voice much calmer. She looked at the flowers and frowned. "So, you think a dozen roses are going to make things all better?" she asked, not wanting to realize how good looking he still was...a little older but yet, so was she.

Rebecca approached him slowly, still not sure what to make of this. Of him being here. "I could do lunch." She said quietly before leaning in and kissing him hard on the lips. Probably not only surprising him but herself as well.

He kissed her back all but moaning into her mouth as he opened her mouth skillfully with his tongue. They locked lips his arms coming up and pulling her close hungry with need and lust. He felt some thing awakening inside of him desire mixing in with a quickening heart. His heart almost never sped up he was always calm cool a robot even built for killing. Yet with her there was some thing more, some thing electric and a feeling that made him feel alive. He wanted more of it and judging by the way his cock was hardening against her much more than that.

He pulled away breathing heavily staring at her eyes before pulling her back and kissing her again passionately. He breathed her in her very essences one more time before he finally pulled away and ran a finger through his hair. He was breathing heavily a feral look in his eyes the bulge in his pants twitching as he took her in.

“Keep doing that and we will never make it to lunch” He said eyeing her up and down “god damn I missed you” he breathed before assessing her body once again a action that made his eyes darken with more lust.

“We should go do lunch” He murmured grabbing the roses and handing them to her “if we do… that now I don’t want you to think im just coming back for a fuck even though god I want you” he said looking her up and down one more time before reluctantly going to the door “pick a place to eat”

Rebecca nodded in agreement that if they kept doing what they were doing, they would never make it out of the studio for lunch. After a few deep breaths, she calmed down and gathered her wits about her before shaking head, still wondering if this was real or not.

The quivering between her legs could certainly attest that this was real but her mind was having a hard time with this.

"Uhh...lunch.." she nodded, clearing her throat and walked over to grab her purse off the floor as well as her phone. Luckily, both were in one piece. "Sorry about all that... I didn't know how to react." Standing up, she took the flowers and smiled before telling him, "This doesn't mean I forgive you so easily." She said, leading him out of the room. Walking toward the elevator, Rebecca used her phone and called for her driver to be ready.

In the elevator, she regarded him. Yeah, he was still good looking. More so than in the din of the bar and dimly lit hotel room she saw him in for less than a few hours. "You aren't going to disappear on me after lunch, are you?"

She nodded at his answer and during the ride, had come to the realization that she had to tell him about her daughter.

No, their daughter.

"So, not to sound conceited, but did you read any sorrid stories about me in the news? That is, if you ever listened to the entertainment portion of it?"

Reaching the basement of the building, there stood her driver, waiting to open the door to the limo. Rebecca gave him instructions to take them to Lydia's. A small italian restaurant that was out of the way and it was also a place the media wouldn't bother them...hopefully.

He followed her watching as she moved through the building and every one stopped and paid her attention. She was clearly getting more and more spotlight as her music career took off which could b problematic for him. If they were out and about he would get photographed which meant his enemies might finally find him. On of the reasons Thomas was so good at his job was because he was virtually a ghost any one who saw him working died and he worked through an array of middleman. He was on more than a few terrorist lists but no on had a photograph of him and he planned on keeping it that way. Being with her however would put him in the spotlight which could prove….. problematic.

However he couldn’t help but admire the respect and attention she received. Clearly she was doing well in the entertainment industry, well enough that the company wanted to keep her happy. He didn’t know much about the music industry 9nor did h really care to) but she seemed to be doing well off which made him wonder why she was so interested in what he knew about her. He idly wondered if she was involved in some scandal of some kind….. Or some thing with a past lover? If so he could take care of it for her probably kill the guy easily……

“Uh I don’t know much about the entertainment news” He said settling into the limo comfortably “and I have been out at sea for a while I have listened to some of your music however” He said trying to save face.

He decided it was probably best to recover and quickly scooted closer to her pulling her onto his lap and running his hands up and down her legs. He gave her another deep kiss pulling her close and running his hands up and down her back as he continued to kiss her.

Damn, but this man could kiss.

His lips set her entire body on fire and Rebecca relished it. She wrapped her hands around his neck as she kissed him back with a matched intensity that only he could bring out in her.

God, she missed this. Even if she only had it for one night, there was a spark between the two that she couldn't put a finger on but hell, she didn't question it. Why should she? Working on her career, she took the good when it came and with Thomas showing up like he did today, she definitely wasn't going to question it, instead, she was going to take it.

Sitting on his lap, Rebecca could feel his cock throbbing against her thigh and she moaned her desire in their kiss. Her mind raced as she wondered if this was the right thing to be doing in the limo when they still needed to talk.

Well, she needed to talk to him.

Rebecca pulled back from the kisses, "Thom--" she said when he kissed her again, "Wait---Thomas--..."

He pulled away his green eyes sparking with intense lust as he regarded her. Damn he missed her lips! He forgot how heady a feeling kissing her was how much she awakened him. It was a truly mind altering experience as if he wasn’t the hardened ice-cold killer he always was an was instead normal. With her he truly seemed to come alive parts of him awakening that wasn’t just his cock. He felt the over whelming urge to kiss her again but stopped instead keeping her seated on his lap as he cupped her face.

“Some thing you need to tell me?” He asked breathing heavily his chest rising and falling as he took her in. Did this have to do with her interest in what he knew about her? Was she married or some thing? If so that would be bad for the guy she was married to because he would surely kill him in order to get to her. A fierce protectiveness and jealousy suddenly rose inside of him and he scowled his eyes narrowing as he regarded her.

“Your married or with some one aren’t you?” He asked his voice a deadly whisper “if so I have to warn you I wont stop I want you” He said putting extra emphasis on the words.

“if so I have to warn you I wont stop I want you”

An alarm should have gone off in her head with how he delivered that. But it didn't. In fact, she could only feel humbled that someone felt this way about her..even after all this time. Smiling, she looked into his eyes and stared into them for the longest time before speaking, "There's no one else...there hasn't been anyone since you.."

She couldn't explain it. Why hadn't there been anyone besides Thomas in the past few years? It wasn't that there wasn't any opportunity for someone to make a move on her. Plenty tried but none succeeded. Instead, she poured herself into her music, her career and her daughter.

Their daughter.

"You're going to find out sooner or later Thomas..but no one else knows about her.." she hung her head and took a deep breath, "That night we had together...we created someone special.." she looked up at him, "I ended up pregnant from that night Thomas..." she told him as she reached for her phone and brought up a picture of a little girl in pigtails. The resemblance was uncanny. "This is Andrea. Our daughter."

He felt sucker punched

For the first time in no idea, Thomas was utterly and completely floored it was actually kind of comical to watch. His eyes went wide his mouth gaped open and he blinked rapidly as if h was having a hard time processing the information she just presented to him….. words like pregnant baby and our daughter floated into his brain before jumbling together leading to mass confusion as he tried to come down to earth. Wasn’t it impossible for her to have gotten pregnant? Hadn’t he wore a condom? Sure people talked about them breaking and not being all that reliable but that was surely hog wash….

Right?

He felt the limo pulling to a stop and the jostling was enough to give his brain the much needed kick it deserved. He took the phone staring at the picture of the little girl who looked so much like him. He had a daughter? He couldn’t have a daughter…. He was a trained killer! Utterly with out remorse and cold there was no way he was “father material” so why was he feeling a sudden rush of affection and warmth why did he suddenly very much want to meet this-

“I didn’t know” He said looking at her “I swear I didn’t just knock you up and leave you high and dry I didn’t know” He said handing the phone back to her.

“I have a daughter then?” He asked staring at her “you’ve had a piece of me all this time?”

"Hey..hey, it's OK." Rebecca said, taking the phone from him before scooting off his lap and sitting beside him. Of course, this wasn't the sort of news one could just take and be content.

No.

Like Rebecca, when she found out she was pregnant, she was at a lost at what to do, how to react, what to feel...

Shaking her head, she sighed, "No Thomas, you couldn't have known. Things happened. I know we used protection that night but even though...what's happened, has happened." She leaned her head back against the seat and shook her head, "I wanted to tell you but how could I?"

The silence was felt a moment longer before she continued, "As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I made plans that I would keep Andi hidden because of my success going at full speed, I couldn't let the media pick on her or find out about her because well...I wanted something special to hold on to.. I wanted you but since you weren't here, I only had her to remind me of you."

"I'm sorry Thomas, I know this isn't probably what you wanted to come back to. I would have told you if I could have... I swear."

“It’s not that” he said before sighing and leaning back “just give me a second” he murmured trying to make best sense of his jumbled thoughts. He had never expected this not even in his wildest dreams. In truth having kids was some thing he never expected to experience in his life. It was some thing “normal” people did not infamous assassins. He certainly didn’t know any thing about being a parent and what would his parent’s think! The ones who knew nothing about what he did…….

Oh god his parents! They were going to flip once they found out he had a child out of wedlock not that he really cared what they thought but he could just imagine them now stressing on him to marry the girl as soon as possible. Should he? He didn’t know if he was ready for marriage but he HAD come back to New York City to be with her. Of course now that there was a child involved he wanted to meet her and be a part of his life which probably meant no more jet setting……

“Can I meet her?” Thomas asked opening his eyes and staring at her “My daughter? Andi?” he asked hesitantly

“after we have lunch together”

Rebecca nodded. "Of course you can meet her."

She was happy he wanted to meet her. But she was also scared. How would Andi react to Thomas.

Just then, the car stopped at the restaurant. It was completely devoid of people this early. Usually, it didn't open until after four for the dinner crowd. So, right now, it would just be the two of them, including the restaurant workers. She usually didn't pull her star 'power' but today, she made an exception.

The door opened and Rebecca got out and waited for Thomas before heading inside the small family owned eatery.

He followed after her his mind still reeling as he tried to make sense of the information. In the space of fifteen minute he went from being a single guy wit the prospects of having some thing with an old flam and a world famous assassin to a father of a beautiful little girl. This just didn’t happen to people like him! People like him didn’t do family especially kids. His mind flashed thinking about PTA meetings, Bake sales, recitals, What the hell would he know about that!

He suddenly felt the over whelming urge to turn and run to get out of this situation. He wasn’t a good father! He sure as shit would be putting the child in danger. Yet he couldn’t leave and instead he opened the door and led Rebecca into the restaurant following after her and nodding as the waiter rushed to get them a table. The restaurant was clearly closed which meant she used her pull to get them in….. On top of all that he still had the small problem of her being a famous musician. If any one saw the three of them together and found out what he did all his enemies would find out.

“You come here often?” He asked pulling out the chair for her before sitting across from her “I noticed this place isn’t open yet for the evening which means you must have some serious pull” He said watching her closely.

Rebecca wondered what was going through Thomas' mind. He got quiet all of a sudden, but that could probably be because that they were in the presence of others and he didn't want to talk about personal things in front of them.

Or maybe he was still absorbing the fact that he was a father and had been for the past 4 years but hadn't known.

Seriously though, she would have told him if she could but that situation never presented itself. And Rebecca was a sensible person. Sensible and a realist. She faced the fact that she wasn't going to see Thomas again so instead, she devoted herself to their daughter. Raising her as well as she could, even under the circumstances of her stardom.

When they sat down, Rebecca could only smile as she nodded to his statement, "No, no serious pull. Just some good friends doing me a favor. I used to come here all the time and eat when I couldn't afford anything else. Lydia, the owner, stuck by me and made me feel like part of the family when no one else did."

She looked at Thomas, "Their lasagna is to die for so, I hope you don't mind me ordering ahead of time also."

As they were waiting for their order, Rebecca looked at her water glass as she spoke, "Listen Thomas, I know this is a lot to take in. I understand if you still need some time after you meet Andi to think about all this." She took a quick drink and looked up at him, "I have a vacation coming up in a few days and I had planned to go to Ireland with Andrea. Some place where the press won't hound us and she and I could finally spend some quality time together. When we get back, then perhaps you'll let me know what you want to do."

“Your going to Ireland with her?!” Thomas said momentarily taken out of his inner musings. Ireland in a few days?! But he just learned about her! She couldn’t already be leaving……

It was then that Thomas realized that even if he wasn’t prepared or sure if he would be a good father he definitely wanted to be one. The realization brought with it a certain comfort, Thomas was at his best when he was a man on a mission a sense of purpose. Now that he knew he wanted to be a father he was prepared to do every thing and any thing he needed to be one.

“Of course” Thomas said nodding and ordering the same thing deciding to try it out “but I just found out about her and I definitely don’t want to lose any private time getting to know her I’m not sure what you’ve told her about me her father but if it’s not to much trouble I would like t go with you to Ireland”

He reached over placing a hand on hers locking eyes “I want this” He said before leaning back and regarding her “now I understand if it’s weird to go on vacation with me if you’d like I can rent my own room at the hotel your staying at if you wish or we can get some thing together and I can stay in another room though if you aren’t adverse to sharing a bed…..” He said looking at her and raising an eyebrow.

Rebecca had to laugh and shook her head, "Let's just take it a little at a time, OK? I would love for you to join us. And as for sharing..well, a producer friend is lending us her home, a place near the lake. The drive into the city is about 40 minutes so, yeah, there's plenty of room...I mean enough room for you to even stay by yourself in another room." She said in a teasing voice.

She got a bit somber for a moment, "I didn't tell her much about you Thomas because I didn't know much either. I didn't want to make up anything either, so I've just been telling her that you've been away."

Their food arrived but Rebecca didn't touch it yet, "Thomas... before you meet her, I need to make sure you're not going to leave again. I mean, am I going to have you meet her and then after that, you'll be gone again?" She had to know. Call it a mother's love, but she had to protect her child at any cost.

He raised an eyebrow noting her reluctance to share a room with him but decided not to budge. I mean they had shared some pretty heated kisses in the car with her even initiating but now that the heat of the moment was gone maybe she wasn’t interested. He couldn’t blame her in her eyes he fucked her knocked her up and then disappeared for four years it was enough to make any woman wary.

Then there was her question one he didn’t have an answer for, he couldn’t really promise her that because if need be he would have to leave for their safety. He also didnt know if he was getting out of the game, he had enough money to feasibly do it but he wasn’t prepared to give up some thing he enjoyed doing just yet. He wanted to be a part of the child’s life but if he needed to……

Well he couldn’t make such promises

“Rebecca” He said looking at her “I didn’t know if I had however I still would have had a duty to my country that duties over now but I have a past if it ever caught up with me I would have to leave or put you guys some where safe until it was dealt with” He said trying to be as vague as possible “also if I get another job which requires me traveling I would have to leave as well I can however promise you that I will never willingly abandon you or our daughter or disappear again I want to be a part of this child’s life and im always here for you if need be”

She nodded. For some reason, she understood. Although she wanted to question it, Rebecca knew this wasn't the time or place. Looking down at her food, she took a deep breath and then gave him a small smile. "So, let me tell you a little more about our daughter.." said, filling him with different stories about the pregnancy, the birth and having kept her a secret this long.

Rebecca wasn't sure why she hid their daughter from the limelight but she did. And she would continue to do so until the time was right, but yet, the more famous she became, the more the paparazzi liked to dig up dirt about her and she hated that.

She told Thomas more about the little girl's personality and spirit. Her interest from anything to everything. Rebecca spoke not as a music star, but as a mother of a child whom she loved dearly. "Like I said, I don't know why I kept her hidden this long... I guess it's because she keeps me grounded. Keeps me connected to the real world... one thing I do know is that I would kill for her..." she shook her head and sighed, "crazy huh?"

“I cant tell you how glad I am you did” He said quickly without really thinking about it. He winced and cleared his throat taking a carefully measured sip of his wine as he scrambled to think of a reason for him to be so glad of her decision. He couldn’t tell her the truth that the less people who knew about her the better and that for her own safety one day they might both have to disappear and go under cover. If he did it might make her wary about him meeting her and he couldn’t have that.

“The press and the gossip hounds can be particularly rough” He said clearing his throat and watching as the food “I don’t think your crazy at all for keeping her hidden in truth it was probably the best thing for her that way she can have a some what normal life and no one is there to put any nasty spins on any thing she does” He said grateful that the food came.

He tucked in also coming to terms with what he learned about her. It wasn’t the same as being there of course but he treasured and committed each revelation about her as if there was nothing more precious to him. He couldn’t believe how much she and he were alike even though they had never met. He wondered if she would be as good at handling a glock with him…..

He paused food halfway to his mouth as he thought about that turn of events. Could he train her? Should he? If she was any thing like him she would have a particular affinity for it but Rebecca wouldn’t be okay with that…

Or would she?

Rebecca nodded, "Don't I know it. I mean, the stories you hear about the media BY the media is not one bit truthful. Just take a story they tell and increase that by ten." She shook her head as she sipped some of the wine from her glass.

"So, Petty Officer, do you have any interesting stories to share? I mean, you were gone this long, surely there's something to tell." She realized how little she had known of the father of her daughter. He was military. That was fine... she had nothing against it. At least he had a purpose in life.

"You can make that transition of going to Ireland with us? I mean, money's not a problem. You're more than welcome to join us. In fact, I want you to come but I hope it's not keeping you from something else you were going to do since coming back?"

“Uh I’m actually very well off” Thomas said clearing his throat even as his mind worked to try and figure out why a Petty Officer from the Navy would be well off “I inherited a sizable inheritance from my parents on me joining the Navy some thing they invested carefully I decided to give that money to a accountant and investor and they managed to turn it into a very… Nice nest egg I went into the Navy out of patriotism” He explained even as his mind flashed back to Thomas and his haunting smile.

This was Thomas’s story not his but it had since became his, the first kill his old best friend they haunted him for a few minutes. He wondered how she would feel if she knew the truth? How he and his friend Thomas both joined the military how he became the man he became and how that action led him to cutting said best friends throat and adopting his identity. How he felt no remorse for those actions and even enjoyed the feel of the blood on him. How he feared becoming a sociopath and so used his unique abilities to become a hired assassin in hopes of curing his appetite.

“I’m not up to any thing in New York” He explained giving her a small smile “I just got out I’m catching up on some vacation time so no it wont be a problem and as for funny stories I have plenty but I have to keep some thing up my sleeve to entertain you on vacation” He said smiling at her and sipping his drink. Suddenly in a good mood then again thinking about Thomas always did that to him.

Rebecca had to laugh when he said he had something up his sleeve for her. Since that night of their first meeting, he was able to make her laugh. Make her feel safe.

And that night the spent together. He had spoiled her for others. At least, that's how she felt. Not that there hadn't been opportunities to date. There had, in fact, there was still one who kept trying to ask her out. And each time she turned him down. Joshua was the CEO of the label she was signed to. He was nice, but he wasn't Rebecca's type.

She pushed that thought away as they finished up their lunch. Scooting away from the table, Rebecca stood up and regarded Thomas, "Are you ready to meet Andrea?"
