Being from the South and if you haven't noticed...I'm damn proud of it, just wanted to create this thread to gather all the folks on lit who live in the south and kind of a 'get to know ya' thread. I'll start.

I live basically...in Tennessee (really Va but Im RIGHT on the border of Tennessee and stay there most of the time). I'm not married (don't wanna be married either) and I'm a horse fanatic..ahh.. no surprise here..Tennessee Walking Horses.

I'm 20 years of age and I own my own business..love the south and everything about it...

Who here loves the South too?????????

I'm technically a Southerner and my Dad's kin are from the neck of VA not too far from Bristol.

I expect we'll see the lovely and talented GeorgiaGirl coming along fairly soon. Now she's every charming thing about the South embodied in a person. ;)

And zing........here I am. JMJ darling, you have been ever so missed by me.

Good Morning Belle from another belle. I do so love the south and as you can see I'm from GA.

Tennesse Walkers are just glorious horses but durn they have that one gait that is just hell on a woman with substantial boobs. A sports bra won't help either, you need duct tape.

I am the only southerner in a family of midwesterners. I don't eat grits but I make a mean cracklin' cornbread. I say y'all and you guys, sometimes in the same sentence. At family gatherings mine is the only drawl in the room. I drink soda not Coke, which pretty much covers everything carbonated, unless of course it is a Coke. I justify the use of the phrase 'fixin' to' by explaining that it means 'preparing to' and not repairing. I think faster than most southerners and speak slower than most northerners.

It ain't easy bein' me.

I'm not a southerner by birth, but I now live in south Louisiana--which isn't really like the rest of the South. Whatever. I like it here.

I'm from the southern part of a northern town of a southern country of europe, which is in the northern hemisphere... what does that make of me?

Hello, all!

I'm from Memphis, myself - and I'm not big on grits either!!! Now - I CAN cook up some killer cornbread!

It's nice to see all of you -

Actually..the Tennessee Walker doesn't have any rough gaits. (not suppose to but some do in rare cases) Saddlebreds do..they'll bounce the heck out of ya as do the 'troting' horses :) Tn Walkers are the smoothest riding horses in the world and I'll argue with anyone who says different. Racking horses are smooth too and when they rack, they are smooth on us gals Racks as well :D :D :D :D

Never been to crazy about grits

It's like Jeff Foxworthy once said..Louisanna has the best cooking on this planet as long as you don't ask too many questions about what your eating........

Dedededodo lol

One more Southerner here, Texas to be exact. Have lived in the north (small n), New York to be exact, for three years. Hated it and could not wait to get back to the South where I belong. Love the South and everything about it.

Hey Jimmie, I love grits, too.

omg!! My mom was born and raised in Bristol. . .the TN side. Dad was from TN as well. I was born and raised in the yucky north, but consider myself more of a southerner since I spent so many summers in TN. . .Maybe someday I can go "home" again. . .

*humming "It's A Small World After All"* :D

If you zip up the Interstate a bit, you hit Marion and the Rich Valley area. That's where my Dad's family are from, and you can't swing a dead cat (which, by the way, is the VA State Sport) without hitting someone related to me.

Grits can be yummy when done right and there is so much you can do with them.

Even done wrong, they're good. :)

But, as for the rest, I'm not sure about that. I mean, whipped, cream and such, sure. But grits? There's a reason the word "gritty" exists. ;)

I'm from VA. And yes, I love grits! Love them more than sex... well, not that much.

Yep, Southerner here too. From Granada.

(Oh, erm, does southern Spain count? :D)
