The Softer Side of Non-Com

I know that a lot of folks on Literotica won't even bother reading Non-Consent stories because of the connotation that they are all rape fantasies. When I first wrote a story for that category, I was new to the site and didn't know that it had that stigma about it. I was focusing more on the "Reluctance" side of "Non-consent/Reluctance.

To me, there is nothing sexier than a good girl (or guy) giving in to temptation because they simply can't control their desires. I sort of thought that was what the "Reluctance" part was supposed to imply.

So I wrote a few stories, and it was to my surprise the one category I seem to have success in (of the four or five "H" designations I have received all but one was in Non-Com/Reluctance). In my stories, I tend to create some contrivance where the sex is mutually consensual but driven by an outside influence where the couples ordinarily would never have sex with each other. I guess some folks could construe these as being more "Mind Control" than "Non-Com," but I think its a grey area.

I won't say I have never created a scenario that could be construed as rape - In my story "Training Day Fun" the girl is influenced to cheat on her husband and have sex with a security guard because he spikes her drink with a special drug. The sex is not brutal or violent just non-consensual and the story does end with the woman enjoying it so much she takes the guard as a lover. This was probably as close as I ever came to a true "rape fantasy."

I guess I'm going on about this because I feel like I have written what I thought were really good stories especially "The Festival" which was influenced by Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I was disappointed that a lot of people wouldn't bother reading them because they were Non-Consent stories even though there was very little if any actual rape in them.

Anyone else write soft Non-Consent stories?

The issue is reluctance and non consent shouldn't be lumped together and you pretty much it the reason why. Non consent is rape, reluctance is much different and as you said could be 'softer' or more fun than rape.

The should switch out reluctance and mind control, putting reluctance in its own category and putting MC with non con where it really belongs.

But it won't happen so you'll have to deal with NC's bad rap or try your story in erotic couplings which is kind of a catch all.

I've written a bunch or reluctance stories, I don't feel a bad rap. The comments have been positive, the feedback pretty supportive and more views then the other categories I have written in.

My next few stories are all going in non/con.

I never realized there was a stigma attached to Non-Con, LW, perhaps, but not Non-Con. Well, you live and learn, right?
I'm surprised you feel people don't read Non-Con. I'm pretty sure it's in the top five most popular categories. And as to rapey? There are regulations to be followed. The protagonist cannot have long term detrimental effects and must find some pleasure in what essentially starts as a nonconsensual encounter.
I find it interesting that you have received majority of your red H's in that category but are reluctant to post there. Keep in mind it is a popular category, and depending on the day you post your story it may only stay on the first page for a few hours, in which case your readership won't be as high. I have one story that has over 19k views and one that only has 5.5k.
I can't comment on how "soft" Non-Con is received there but apparently if you are receiving red H's it must be favourable.
I write "hard", niche Non-Con and enjoy the challenge of writing in my niche without over stepping boundaries.
I see your point about Reluctance and Mind Control but I believe Mind Control has it's own category because it has supernatural undertones where Non-Con/ Reluctance does not.

HectorBiden did an analysis a few months ago that showed that, at least for the time period he studied, Non Con is the third most viewed category on Literotica, after Incest/Taboo and Loving Wives. Thread is here: http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=1466462&highlight=hectorbiden. So, I wouldn't worry too much about it having a bad rap. You'll get no shortage of readers publishing stories there.

The readership here on Literotica is huge. What that means is that in every readership category, you are going to have some people with strong opinions all over the map. Some people are really opposed to non-con because they think you shouldn't fantasize about rape. My view is fantasy is fantasy. I believe people watch movies and read books about serial killers, in part, because they imagine what it would be like to be the serial killer. Is that wrong? I think it's idle to ask that. People will fantasize about whatever they fantasize about.
