For me, certain things just smell like summer, and when they fill one’s senses, one just knows that that special time is upon all of us again.
-- Oil and gas pouring through a two-stroke marine engine… water spray from a powerboat drifting to shore…
-- Those little black “snakes” that children burn in the street at dusk, leaving creepy trails of ashes…
-- Horse stables, hay, and musky barnwood…
-- Suntan lotion-drenched skin…
-- Cotton candy, hot dogs, and the diesel fuel from the generators powering the parking lot carnivals…
-- Leather motorcycle gloves, tobacco, and early morning sunlight…
-- Peppermint soap.
-- Open-air patio bars with the associated lovely perfumes, mixed with leftover tanning oil and cold drinks, dripping with condensation...
Mmmmm… summertime.
