Do you think the show has gone downhill? I seriously think it has. Back in the day when it was written by the likes of Connan O'Brian the show was chock full of jokes and clever social commentary.

Nowadays, the show is very... very plot oriented with some jokes sprinkled on top. I think the show went downhill pretty much around when Lisa became a vegetarian.

Maybe it's just me.

12 years so far year i guess it bound to get a littel stale but they stories are still good.

Its outlasted cosby show and 3 star trek spinoffs.

True, but lasting power is due to ratings not quality. The Simpsons has legions of loyal teenagers watching it no matter what. I've seen the effects on them and it isn't pretty ;)

try 15 years. it started when I was in grade 4 (no i'm not counting the time when it was on the tracy *wildcard* show)

and no they are still as good as they always have been, some are better then others but simpsons will never die.

Good as it ever was?

Let me cite examples that prove otherwise...

- Simpsons get a horse... again
- Maude dies.
- Krusty's daughter
- New Springfield vs. Old springfield
- Bart joins a boy band
- The Simpsons buy a tennis court

The only recent episode that has come close to what it was was the episode where homer had the crayon removed from his brain and some parts of that had bad elements.

It was funny the way Maude dies....
I liked the boy band as Well..

Yea the tennis episode was bad but they still have good stories.

Oh come on.....

This one was funny in a warped kind of way....- Bart joins a boy band. But overall I agree with you,I dont watch the new ones anymore,I now watch the re-runs. Those are much better.

The Boy Band one had promise, some good jokes, but they took it in a bad direction and killed it.

If you want to get really bad how about the one where Flanders starts his own Biblical theme park? Ugh.

I have to say that I still find the Simpsons funny- both old AND new episodes. But this is coming from someone who likes kid's cartoons as well, so maybe it's not saying much... :)

Hay I watched cartoons my whole live, and i still watch them. I fight with a 6 year old. I don't want to watch family matters. Power puff girls is on :)

I"ll accept your opinion hehe

Lilminx, The new ones have their moments, but compartaively if you look back on the old ones those moments just blow the new ones out of the water. It used to be one of the smartest shows around, now it seems to be sinking into the flock, which is sad. Not being the average show was what set it apart and made it greatness.

Simspons has what I call the Star Wars curse.

Like Star Wars when Simpsons first began they were ahead of there time.

But now like the new Star Wars they are merely with the times.

I still like the simpsons regardless

How depressingly accurate, Todd. It'll happen to all things, like the delayed Matrix sequals, and...um.... Emeril ;)

Least Futurama is still able to play with their premise, despite their terrible time slot.

Well, some of the stuff in the new series is still inspired; but now I think a lot of creativity is being put into Futurerama. It's just got better and better since it started!

I agree...

The Simpsons is one of my favorite shows. You can't expect everything to be the same, writers change all the time.

I've been a fan of cartoons ever since I was little.

Underdog, Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-man, and of course all the WB characters, Looney toons...and a helluva lot of others(more than I can name) etc. and more recently King of the Hill and Futurama.

I can't say I have a favorite episode, or character. It all depends on the mood I'm in.

The time machine toaster episode always gets a laugh out of me though.

Killing Muade was great! She was a nothing and demanded more money so they killed her - Awesome!
It's a great show but you are right the old social undert tones and comentary were great - they didn't have to come right out and tell you Smithers was gay now they telegraph every point so an idiot could get it.

Actually she didnt want more money...
The actress who did her voice was tired of flying to LA everyso often to do the voice stuff. When the time came she said I dont want a new contract. I want out.. so they killed her.
