They say hell is other people. This is true, especially if those "people" are demons.
This thread is basically a rip off of another couple threads I once participated in. Still, it they were fun. I'm feeling nostalgic. And it's getting near Halloween, the spookiest day of the year. So what the hell?!
A quick history. Some jillions of years ago, God created the world. But before that, he'd created the angels. These beings were his servants. One of these servants decided that he ought to be running things. So, he convinced a large number of the others to rebel. Perhaps assaulting the omnipotent being who'd willed them into existance in the first place was unwise. Because the rebellion was put down.
The rebels were exiled from Heaven, banished to Hell. There they vowed vengeance. They also set up their own heirarchy. For whatever reason, they also descended spiritually, becoming evil and twisted. Then the fallen souls of humanity began to arrive, and the demons lorded their own power of these lesser beings.
Some setting info. Hell is divided into seven circles, one of which is ruled over directly by Satan. Each of the others is controlled by a King or Queen. Under them are a variety of other demons or other such creatures holding various rankings. Some warlords or other such independents exist, carving out their own little kingdom and refusing to bend their knee to a King or Queen, but too powerful, useful, or not important enough to be taken out. Promotions are often self awarded, the former boss not able to object on account of being imprisoned, recently banished, or dead.
I'm not going to insist on a set heirarchy, but here's an example feudal heirarchy (copied out of my Mechwarrior RPG book). You're free to use this or make up your own heirarchies and ranks:
Satan
King/Queen
Princes/Princesses
Dukes/Duchesses
Marquess/Marquessa
Count/Countess
Baron/Baroness
Baronet
Knight
Various non-aristocracy supervisors invarious levels, followed by demonic peons, with the damned human souls at the bottom.
Characters. Characters can be anything you'd expect to find in hell, be it demon, vampire, witch, warlock, wraith, monster, damned human, or whatever. Max of two characters per player. Though you'll be expected to keep any second player separate from the first. No tag-teaming with your own guys. Don't make your characters all-powerful.
Kings and Queens are first-come-first serve, and get to describe their own kingdom.
So What Do I Do?
Well, whatever you want. You can plot. You can live the highlife of debauchery as only an immortal fiend can. You can fight. Or, this board being what it is, you can find a like-minded player and have your characters spend the entire time humping like bunnies.
Don't expect much direction from up above. I'm not much for it. And in the threads I got the idea from, it didn't do much good. People pretty much ignored it and did their own thing. Though I reserve the right to change my mind if things get too dull.
And remember, just because you're a depraved instrument of ultimate evil, that doesn't mean you have to be a dick.
So, come here sign up. Once we have enough interest, I'll fire things up.
