Anybody watch The Secret Lives of Women, on WE (Women's Entertainment Channel)? I watch that channel form time to time for different things and they had one show on there recently about a lady who's husband has gone to Iraq and to release the anger she feels about that, she has taken up being a Domme of sorts.

Well, she helps couples work their way into the BDSM scene a little at a time. She gets $200 an hour! I didn't see how she had any more smarts than the women on this board and was wondering if any of you thought obout doing something like that.

She did have the fetish clothes and the man was wearing a leather hood and the woman was wearing a gag. They didn't show anything, but she said she was going to whip the woman and they showed her putting the woman into position, while the man watched.

I don't know...it just seemed like the couple could have saved their $200 an hour and looked things up on the Internet or went to a munch or something. It's not like they were worried about being outed or showing their faces. They were on a national TV show, for God's sake!

I have often wonder why it is that Dommes can make it "professionally"
and you seldom here of a "professional" Dom

Supply and demand. Stand on the corner and try to sell your penis to women. You'll be out there all night.

hell I can not give it away any more

So your saying that there is a ratio of submissives that perfer Dommes greater
than the ratio of submissives perfer Doms?

The male submissives I know find it very difficult to find Dommes . I know one man in particular that is just superb in every way, would be a 'dream submissive' to the right Domme and I am not speaking of roleplay or online . He sincerely has the mental attitude and self awareness to live it quite honestly . There is nothing I can think of in ANY department he is lacking in. I doubt however he would get any long term satisfaction from paying a professional Dominatrix unless it was just for 'release' in a casual play sense. I know for him it would stop dead there, we have discussed these things forever. It will be a happy day for me when he meets his 'match'. I kind of love the guy though not in a'biblical sense'.......smiles

Sighssss just realised how tired I am and how off topic that last paragraph is . I guess my point is for some submissives the exchange is severely altered when you a discussing a 'professional'. I admit I was curious about one advertisement I saw for a profesional though its nothing I would consider. Maybe the scale works in a similar manner where some men are quite happy to pay for intimate behaviour but most woman ( in the general community ) wouldn't. I really don't know. IF that 'trend' is reflected in a BDSM context perhaps............

well, when space rental in a major city runs 100 an hour, how much would you charge to get into a BDSM situation with a naked middle aged dude?

As for why sex industry functions the way it does with men being the major purchasers of services (whether from male or female providers) that's far too complicated to pinpoint, but I will throw out that there is NOTHING built into this culture that encourages women to be sexual goods or services consumers. We're first seeing the emergence of a small porn for women market.

Give it time. I think we'll be seeing more couples seeing Dommes in the next decade, and with the preponderance of bicurious males out there I can imagine that some of them might make it to Doms with hetero girlfriends.

I didn't see the thingie, but I'm very suspect of someone who's suddenly taken up Domination as recently as during this Iraq campaign as a way of releasing anger (?!)and is working as an educator with couples.

This seems like a very unhealthy recipie.

She wasn't really "Domming" as much as she was instructing. The woman wanted to be more open and accertive in their sex life. I did hear the Domme say she needed to spank her to break her down, before she could then build her up again. And, what I thought was weird, her husband was just there to watch, I guess.

And, yes, I agree completely with you on her asperations to be a Domme. Her husband even thought it was strange, I think. She went to this couple's home and sort of took charge of a vanilla couple that I guess had kinky thoughts.

She did go very slow with them, explaining things and all. It wasn't like she was decked out in her Domme look and whipping the two of them into shape. But, they didn't go into her background or explain if she had any reallife experience or if she just wanted to beat on people, and take their money. Hmmm, sounds almost like a mugger.

Doesn't sound like she has her head on very straight or responsibly, but that is the risk you take all the time when playing with someone you do not know well. Her fee was actually cheap (going from the ones I know of that is), perhaps a self acknowledgement she wasn't really experienced. As to male Pro-Doms...there are a few in Europe who seem to get work from couples and some singles, both gay and straight. I have been talking with a male sub here with a view to our playing with him, and his main contact for D/s and SM is with ProDommes. His reasons are it is more convenient given he has a very busy schedule which requires lots of travel, it is quick and efficient, and it saves a lot of emotional involvement which though he wpould like, he hasn't had time to find the right one yet. He didn't have a lot of good things to say about the service, and only has one he thinks is close to being alright but still doesn't connect with him in a way he would like. Given what he told me she does in a session, I do 3 times as much easily in a play scene and with a lot more variety and as he says, mental connection. Like all services, it serves a purpose when there is no viable or preferred alternative.

If someone came to me and said "I'd like to be more open and assertive in my sex life" I don't think my first reaction would be to spank them. It doesn't sound dangerous per se, but it doesn't sound like she's really got a plan.

Professional does not always equal distant and cold. My scenes have been warm, connected, friendly, hot, fun, but I am picky about who I see and have turned down things I think would be good let alone things I know will be bad because of my own energy levels and moods.

It does leave out a lot of drama.

I've been on both sides of the search, and I have to say that having been a cute boi looking for a femme Top at one point, the lifestyle scene is slim pickings. If you expect sexual chemistry, minimal drama and weirdness, and competent skills and equipment on the part of your Domme, it's narrowing the field a lot.

I've certainly thought of becoming a Pro Domme but then I've though of becoming most anything in the world.

Find a need and fill it, is one of the prime business rules you know. *winks*

Being able to enjoy what you do has a great deal of merit too, though some would say, and I see their point that once it becomes work for which you are paid, the inspiration and artistry can go out of it.

I'd happily pay a professional male submissive provided he offered the same that is available in the pro femdom market, including:

** A fully equipped dungeon
** Privacy and discretion
** Talent and skill -- empathy, intuitiveness
** Experience in a wide variety of scenarios
** No topping from the bottom
** No emotional commitment, no clinging to me and no contact after the scene
** Drop dead gorgeous*

*of course, definition of "drop dead gorgeous" is vague as it varies. There are no shortage of beautiful professional femdoms in the market and all different shapes and sizes to suit any mood or taste of a client. I would want the same available variety to choose from.

There are plenty of fat, bald guys with NO bdsm experience that email me and say "You don't have to pay a sub, I would let you dom me for free!". They miss the point. If I am paying for a fantasy, I want to be dominating frigging Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt. And, on MY terms.

I just thought I'd mention this. WE has a tendency to repeat a lot of their shows. If someone really wanted to see this thing, I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to find. Unfortunately, I"ve seen a few of these things several times.
