Patrick had just turned 20, and was single. It wasn't because he was ugly or anything like that. Patrick was shy when it came to asking females out, especially considering he wasn't the hottest male around. He just was nice to all the females he talked to, becoming their friends, not treating them like the pieces of ass, or a fuck that some of his friends treated members of the opposite sex. He was a virgin, in fact he had never really been on a date, yea he went to his Prom, but that was with a group, not just one female. He thought his life was going to doom him to being single forever, and it just might of. Well, lets just say it might of if it wasn't for this one night in December where for some reason the courage, well maybe a desire to actual get some pussy, caused him to finally ask out the girl he had wanted to ask out for like the past month. He could only hope it all worked out well though.

Anna looked like the kind of girl that had fun, went out a lot, hooked up with a lot of guys. She could, easily get most men she wanted, but she didn’t. She was somewhat shy, and had a group of friends who liked to go out. They always asked her to go, but she declined often.

Tonight was different; they wouldn’t leave her alone, so she agreed to go out. She put on a curve hugging black dress, and stiletto heels. Her hair already strait, she put on a little makeup.

They went out to a martini lounge, and got in because they knew the bouncer. They stood at a table near the back, and ordered their first round. She looked around at all of the guys and other women there.

She saw one guy, at a table across from theirs, he wasn’t drop dead gorgeous, but he wasn’t unattractive by any means. There was something about him that attracted her to him. If only she had the confidence to go up to him.

He looked at the girl that was sitting at the table across from the one he was at. She seemed to not be having a good time like the rest of her friends, they went and started dancing with guys they just met their. Patrick was feeling up to at least talking to her, so he picked up his drink and went over towards her. "You mind if I take a seat, miss?"

Anna smiled as he came up to her. "not at all" she answered, watching him as he sat down. She took a sip of her cosmo, tucking her hair behind her ears.

"My name's Anna" she said, looking into his deep engaging eyes.

"The names Patrick, Anna, nice to meet you." He said smiling at her. "So why aren't you up there dancing with some guy like your friends." He asked her as he took another sip of his drink

Anna wasn’t quite sure how to answer his question. She was shy? She’s not much of a dancer? What would sound least pathetic?

She hesitated, finishing her drink. “I’m usually not one to go out like this, it’s not really my thing” she said, hoping not to turn him off, and not sounding like too much of a prude.

"Neither am I Anne, neither am I, but I figured I might as well come out and try to have a good time tonight, but looking around at the rest of this place I remember why I don't come out much." He said looking at how basically everyone was packed in like sardines.

Anna was surprised that he felt the same as she did. “Well, we could go someplace a little quieter, with a little more personal space” she said with a smile.

Usually, she would never have had the confidence to suggest something like that, to be so easy going with an attractive guy. Something was different tonight, about Patrick, she wasn’t sure what it was, but she didn’t mind.

"Only if you want to Anna." He said smiling at her, not believing what she said, it sounded so weird to come from a girl like her to suggest to go somewhere else, frankly it all sounded weird tonight, something was different about the evening.

Anna blushed slightly. Maybe he had just felt sorry for her, saw she was sitting alone, and decided to be nice. She always jumped the gun when she was talking with guys.

"Well, I mean it would be quieter, so we could talk, maybe it would be a little more comfortable, I just go let my friends know no not to wait for me"

She waited for a definate respoonse from him, before going to tell her friends.

He smiled at her. "Alright Anna." He said smiling at her. "Go tell your friends, and then we will find somewhere else to talk."

Anna got up, and went to her friends telling them not to wait for her. She returned to Patrick, and smiled "all set".

He got up, and they walked to the door "Well Patrick, where should we go?" she asked, turning and looking again into his eyes.

"I'm not sure Anna, the beach is right near by and much quieter, but it would be abit cold this time of night, or we can just head to one of the less packed bars, and talk there." He said looking at her.

"I don't mind the cold" she said Looking towards the water "the beach sounds good to me".

Anna didn't really care where they went, she was comfortable with Patrick, and wanted to get to know him.

Patrick led her towards the beach. "Think your friends will even notice you left, they seemed pretty into the guys they were dancing with." Patrick asked as they walked together.

Patrick led her towards the beach. "Think your friends will even notice you left, they seemed pretty into the guys they were dancing with." Patrick asked as they walked together.

"I don't really think they will, but I'm not going to worry about it." She look at him as the walked. "I guess I don't get the whole bar thing, I mean, you meet someone there, and you can't even talk to them. It's too loud, and there's just so many people"

They got to the beach, and sat on the empty lifeguard station, watching the sunset over the ocean.

Patrick nodded. "I know what you mean, its just so noisy and loud, and too packed." He said smiling at her. "Plus I don't really like being surronded by all those people I don't know, since my friends usually leave right away to go pick up a drunk chick." He said looking at her.

"Well Patrick, we've been talking for about 20 minutes, and All we've talked about was our friends." she said to him "I think we should get to know each other"

She wasn't sure how to completely change the subject to them, but she didn't want to dwell on how she wasn't like her friends. She already knew that, and normally wasn't crazy about it. But tonight, she didn't mind.

"Alright, Anna, tell me abit about yourself then, and how you ended up here, in the big city." He said smiling at her. "Well at least on the outskirts of the big city." He said smiling at her.

Anna leaned her head against the lifegard station. "Well, My family lives in Wisconsin, and I wanted to get as far away as I could for college, so it was either the East Coast or the West Coast. I decided New York. I decided to go to NYU, and the apartment I'm sharing costs me less than room and board. It's not a great place, but it's better than being completely broke"

"Anything is better then being broke." He said smiling at her. "Me I'm just a small town guy, trying to survive life in New York, its hard at times, but so far I'm making it thru alright, could be much worse I figure."

They were quiet for a while, but it wasn't an ackward silence, it was like they were content, the silence saying more than words.

"Patrick, I can't believe I'm saying this, but when you came over the my table earlier, I felt something about you, something different than most guys. I'm not sure what it was, what it is, but something's definately there."

He smiled at her. "You mean besides the fact I didn't come over to the table, and start with a cheap pickup line." He said with a grin. "I'm glad you feel that way because I would love to take you out to dinner one night."

"I'd love to go out to dinner with you" Anna said smiling at him. "it's still early, we could still do something tonight if it's okay with you".

Patrick smiled at Anna, and took her hand. "Shall we head off then." He said smiling at her. "Any place you desire to go Anna."
