You know the riddle of the Sphinx-

Q - "What walks on 4 legs, then 2 legs , then 3 legs?"

A- "Man. He crawls on all 4's as a child, walks upright on 2 as an adult, & finally hunches over a cane to walk on 3 "legs".

So I was driving up the street following an old lady in a floppy hat using a walker with wheels ( I guess the side walk wasn't wide enough , or maybe it was the joints weren't as smooth), & it reminded me of a baby.

So now we go from legs & wheels in the way of walkers( infant/toddler) to wheels only- tricycles, bicycles, & automobiles(children & adults), back to legs& wheels in the form of walkers again( geriatrics).

Is this progress, or just lame?

So the patterns of modern mobility lead us to ask:

What starts out lame, grows to become lame, and finally ends up lame?

Wait, this lady was walking down the middle of the road and holding up traffic??

Well, she was walking up the middle of a back street . Since it has parking on one side, it's a one lane (but not one way) street.
Yes, she was holding me up, but I don't always think of one vehicle as traffic.

The street does have a sidewalk that's wheel chair accessible. I don't know why she didn't use it.

Eventually she got out of my way, but I wasn't tailgating her or racing my engine or blowing my horn.

You don't live in a big city, do you, patient1? :rose:

I can't imagine someone walking up a street, even a back street, with a walker and a car following behind. Wouldn't happen here.

No, it's not even a big town.:D

There was a retirement home a block over, maybe it was a daring daylight escape;)
