...is that writing erotic literature is damned hard. Finding myself in economic convalescence (i.e., laid off), I thought I would crank out a little story called "The Epiphany Of Bryan Whiting". Well, the little story ballooned to a 39,000+ word novella which has left me asking, "What was I thinking?"

So far, the story has been fairly well received and has generated some feedback, so it isn't a total failure. It is my first attempt at creative fiction, in any genre. Clearly, I am not a professional writer, nor do I play one on T.V. I would give myself a grade of 4.0 based on the strength of the plot, but the sexy parts seem a bit lacking. My revelation is that it is hard to describe mostly non-verbal, heighten emotional activity, with the printed word. I've tried excessive, flowery prose: it sounds silly to me. I've tried straight forward play-by-play: it sounds choppy and clumsy. Good grief, if having sex was this hard, I'd would never have had any children!

So, I'm looking for feedback: mostly negative (constructive). On the other hand, if you think the writing is OK, I'll have to force myself to accept your accolades. ;-)
