Yes, it has been going on forever with the GOP.

Prior to 1965, systemic racist exclusion laws that were "states doing whatever they want" disenfranchised black and ethnic citizens and prevented them from voting. Back then, they were known as Southern Democrats until LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1965 and they flocked to the GOP(which was the home of Democrat and Liberal, free thinking and inclusion minded citizens).

They are letting them complete the audit.

And the second question is irrelevant since that didn't actually happen. Go research a bit on how mail in voting is tabulated.

The only reason you believe it's only in battleground states is because Trump only has you looking at those states. Similar spikes of shifting votes happened in most states depending on when mail in votes were counted. Ohio shifted red fairly quickly around midnight.

Didn't happen. I was watching CNN all day (in Australia, so the middle of the night in America was afternoon here) and in the states you are most likely thinking of, the counting never stopped. The only state I can think of where counting stopped for the night was Nevada, and that was with Biden still a few thousand votes ahead.

Of course, the deplorables in Michigan tried to stop counting in Detroit once it was clear the vote there would easily put Biden in the lead, but they failed.

Wisconsin: The counting continued all night, and Biden pulled ahead around 6 PM my time (so 3 AM Wisconsin time). This was completely predictable given the huge number of absentee ballots to be counted in Milwaukee whereas the rural, red counties had long since finished.

Arizona: Biden led from the very beginning. It got closer but Trump never took the lead.

Georgia: Some of the lines in metro Atlanta had people standing in line for three hours and more. Of course it took forever to count all those votes and, once again, the rural, red counties finished earlier because they had far fewer votes to count (and they were mostly in person, since Trump had spent months telling his supporters it was the only way their votes would count).

Ohio: The opposite of Wisconsin. Biden started out well ahead, Trump caught up later on in the evening. Florida, too.

Pennsylvania: Not only the same situation as Wisconsin above, but that was a direct result of Republican shenanigans. The governor wanted to allow processing of absentee ballots before election day, so that the results would be available more quickly, but state Republican lawmakers blocked his effort. That meant the city of Philadelphia could only begin counting its 900,000+ votes on election day itself, and it took the rest of the week to finish. But no one - not even you - can possibly believe Biden didn't really win Philly by a huge margin.

North Carolina: Trump carried it by 1%. Funny how we haven't heard any whining whatsoever about that...
