Now, I have written tons of bios for people, but here I am faced with writing one for myself as part of an erotic submission to a magazine. What the hell do I say? I know what I am supposed to say, but I have no magazine published erotic works. So, where's my experience?

"Canadian born Charleyh may not have published sex before, but she sure as hell knows how to lick a pussy, and her fellatio ain't bad either."

If a publisher requires a bio when you have no published EROTIC works, do you rely on non-erotic works?

"Charleyh is a freelance writer who has published articles on health and politics in the Nations Quarterly, but really, her erotica is not that boring, so read on."

Anyone have any suggestions on what to write for a bio when faced with this scenario? What would you write if asked to construct a bio paragraph about yourself with an erotic submission to a magazine?

Do a little of it all Charley. A little about your other writing experience, a little about you the person and a little about the warm reception your wbe published erotica has recieved. :)

Talk about your Lit works (presumably the magazine won't allow a plug for the site, but you can mention that you've written stories and published them online).

I have composed a couple, in order to answer you, but neither of them mention CharleyH at all, for some reason.

I'd say, let it answer a couple of "fan questions," such as, "How long have you been writing?" and "What's your personal sexual orientation?" A couple of quick "I live in Wherever, Canada" kind of innocuous bio bits, and you're golden.

As for myself, I used to be a technical writer. I lost count of the number of books I had published. Problem is, there are probably twice as many copies of my books out there as there ever were people who read them. (Hmmm.. probably all the men threw em away as soon as the box was opened).

Erotic stories do however bring new meaning to "Insert part A into Part B with a slight clockwise twisting motion"

Damn

I forgot the whole point before I posted.

Should tech writing be included in a bio?

More precisely, in a bio for an erotic submission. This is what I am trying to determine.

Colly, Earl, thanks. So online but didn't get paid counts toward an accomplishment? :)

CantD LOL - would be rather bizarre had you mentioned me. lol

Being published is being published. When I went to get copyrightson my works I had to listt he date they were web published :)

Noone has to know you weren't paid for it ;)

Charley - you said you had done this for other folks? Think of yourself as one of them - hard I know but imagine yourself as a character and introduce her.

You don't need this - you can do it!

LOL - ya. It's just when I do it for others, no erotic credentials are required. I guess they aren't really. I will take Colly's advice. If it has been read by over 50,000 people, or has a circulation of over 150,000 - it acounts for something I can surely spin :D

Or You Could Just Lie!

Already a long-time freelance contributor to Nations Quarterly with articles on health and politics, Canadian born Charleyh makes her debut as an erotic writer in this issue of Pussy Fancier.

The delay in her appearance as a writer of Erotica, Charleyh explains, is due to her method of composing manuscripts by designing oral calligraphy upon the naked bodies of her sexual partners. Keeping so many partners satisfied during the lengthy production of a major work of erotic fiction has sometimes caused this new artist to suffer from writers block and periodic blackouts.

What does it matter if you've published erotica before or not? Your bio should give a sketch of who you are, not your publishing history:

Charley H is a semi-retired semiotician and trouble-maker whose erotic stories attract fans to Literotica.com and other on-line sites. She currently resides in Ontario Canada where she teaches BDSM techniques to houseplants.

Wouldn't that do?

Add a little something about squirrels and I think it would be perfect.

I think if you state it this way, it makes a wonderfully clever bio note.:)

CharleyH,

If you have other credits in sex/porn/erotica industry, you could list or sumerize them along with your writing credits. You could say something about combining your interests and skills in the two areas, or whatever.

Sorry, not feeling clever this morning, but think you get the idea. (It should tell you something that it's 3:30 and I'm calling it morning, lol.
