Eric looked around the court room. He had just been found guilty of a case of assault with a neighbor a couple floors down in the apartment building he used to live it. He was told by his lawyer, that he wasn't going to have to worry about going to jail as it was just his first offense, but he was also warned that the judge was on the tad creative side, so besides community service, there was the chance of a creative punishment to be tossed in as well.
As Eric heard the verdict from the judge, he was not surprised. He was sentenced to 500 hours of community service, and as part of that he was automatically signed up for a study of a series of new drugs that were designed to try to suppress anger in younger adults. He was just happy he was going to end up in jail. He turned to the lawyer, happy he was going to be able to walk out of the courtroom, and just smiled. Community service wasn't going to be that bad, and being part of a study can't be totally bad can it.
He went to his friend that was sitting in the back of the court, he had to sign a few pieces of paper, and sit through a session to learn about the study, but it shouldn't take too long, and he should be back to his friends in an hour or two at the latest.
