Ex-evangelist rains hellfire on Trump for becoming the ‘pro-death’ president

Former evangelist Frank Schaeffer harshly condemned Donald Trump and his supporters for standing by while people are dying.

“When we come to this time of COVID-19 overtaking our country, a literal life and death issue, we see two things very clearly,” Schaeffer said. “One is the utter moral bankruptcy of this leader who pits himself against governors trying to save their people, and the second is the utter moral bankruptcy of evangelical, the white evangelical voter having rented out to this moronic monster who in this time of crisis, is far from being our Winston Churchill leading us to freedom against the Nazis in Germany.”

Addressing Trump’s battles with the nation’s governors over much-needed ventilators, he added that the president is essentially saying, “We’re not going to make respirators, especially for governors we don’t like, go off and die so the stock exchange numbers go up and I look good.”

“We have a Republican governor, we have people who are in positions of power and Donald Trump trying to push a business as usual agenda. instead of evangelicals standing up and saying, wait a minute, we bought into your candidacy because you’re supposed to be the, quote/unquote, pro-life president,” he continued. “We now have a pro-death president who would rather have his economic numbers go up chasing a 2020 election than save lives.”

Pelosi drops the mic on Trump over his COVID-19 pandemic failures: ‘As the president fiddles, people are dying’

Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” with host Jake Tapper, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was unsparing in her criticism of Donald Trump and spoke bluntly of his failures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

“First let me say how sad it is that ever since the president’s signing of the [stimulus] bill, the number of deaths reported has doubled from 1,000 to 2,000 in our country,” the California Democrat began. “This is such a very, very sad time for us. So we should be taking every precaution. The president? His denial at the beginning was deadly. His delaying of getting equipment to where it — his continued delay in getting equipment to where it’s needed is deadly.”

“We have to have be testing, testing, testing,” she continued. “That’s what we said from the start, before we can evaluate what the nature of it is in some of these other regions as well. … I don’t know what the scientists are saying to him. I don’t know what the scientists said to him. When did this president know about this, and what did he know? What did he know and when did he know it? That’s for an after-action review. But as the president fiddles, people are dying and we just have to take every precaution.”

Back in January and February Trump called the covid-19 pandemic a hoax. He claimed it was created by the left to hurt his re-election chances. Trump could care less about the people of our Nation. He only cares about money and power.

That was debunked weeks ago! TDS on steroids.

Death on this scale cannot be spun

We have now entered the stage when President Trump — always the last to figure out things that involve facts — at Tuesday’s coronavirus response briefing announced that covid-19 is not the flu. It is “vicious,” he has discovered. Yeah, only dolts would have thought that you could compare this virus to the ordinary flu, right?

Trump warned that the next two weeks will be “very, very painful.” (Why two weeks? Won’t deaths continue as the virus rolls through one metropolitan area after another?) Certainly, only an uninformed fabulist would think everything would be better by Easter:

Trump used to say no one could have predicted the coronavirus. Now, the right-wing talking point is that impeachment, which ended the at beginning of February, kept him too distracted. So it was knowable, but Trump did not know it?

That does not match Trump’s earlier statements and numerous media accounts that senior advisers warned of the impending threat. The Post reports that fails to “take into account the president’s own words and actions related to the coronavirus.” Recall:

Trump repeatedly played down the threat the virus posed toward the United States. When news of the first U.S. case broke in late January, Trump declared, “We have it totally under control. . . . It’s going to be just fine.” At the same time, Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) was calling on the federal government to declare the crisis a public health emergency.
Democrats also criticized the Trump administration in early February for not taking the crisis seriously enough, with some warning that medical institutions were in urgent need of additional staff and supplies.
Amid the first reports of community transmission in late February, Trump continued to dismiss the risk. “It’s going to disappear,” he said. “One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”
Moreover, Trump had plenty of time to tweet, play golf and hold rallies throughout January and February.

But, as he so often does, Trump blew up the spin from his own allies. He declared on Tuesday, "I don’t think I would have done any better if I had not been impeached.” He added: “I don’t think I would have acted any differently, or I don’t think I would have acted any faster.” All that shilling for Trump did not survive the day.

Try as he might to now prepare the country and figure out an excuse for massive casualties potentially on a scale not seen since World War II, Trump’s own statements and failure to take action cannot be entirely erased from memory. He would like us to think “some people” just thought we could “ride this out,” but not him! Well, he actually was the one who told us it would all disappear one day. Trump would like us to think that 100,000 to 240,000 (the range of the administration’s own projected casualties) would be a stunning achievement for him because doing nothing would have resulted in many more deaths.

This line of reasoning is both misleading (had he acted as he should we might have kept casualties to a much lower level, as South Korea did) and morally obnoxious. It will be of no comfort to the widows and orphans when the president says there could have been more widows and orphans.

One reason the president freaks out whenever a reporter quotes Trump back to Trump is that the record is littered with statements from him (and his right-wing sycophants) downplaying the danger of covid-19 and characterizing the pandemic as a figment of the anti-Trump media’s imagination. The gap between Trump’s words just a week or so ago and the horrible reality about to confront the country is unspinnable.

His resistance to a nationwide stay-at-home order and unsupportable arguments that as many people would die from suicide in the case of enforced isolation as the coronavirus look like the product of denial and willful ignorance.

The problem for Trump continues even now. With every utterance — denying a shortage of tests, questioning the need for ventilators — he creates a new string of embarrassing quotes that also will clash with reality. The bottom line: Nothing can excuse the incompetence and ignorance that will make the death toll higher than that of other countries whose leaders acted more swiftly.

While Trump's reckless and dangerously irresponsible behavior puts American lives at risk all over the nation, Southern states like Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas are especially at risk.

Nobody has a problem with Pelosi encouraging people to get together and spread the death around as late as Feb24, weeks after the racist travel bans Trump called for.

Pelosi, Feb24. - “We want to be vigilant about what is out there in other places. We want to be careful about how we deal with it, but we do want to say to people ‘Come to Chinatown, here we are — we're, again, careful, safe — and come join us.'”

That's (D)ifferent!!!!

LOL partisan hypocrites, point fucking blank, mindless "Orange Man Bad!" NPCs with no thoughts of their own.

I've been reading some intensely disturbing stories in the news lately.

Hospitals have critical shortages of ventilators and personal protective equipment, and when state governments attempt to buy these things, they federal government swoops in at the last minutes and buys the ventilators and/or personal protective equipment right before it can be shipped to the states.

As a result doctors, nurses and paramedics don't have the personal protective equipment that they need.

What the fuck is Trump doing with all that important protective gear that he's buying up? Our American doctors and nurses aren't getting it. Is he locking it all up in a warehouse somewhere?

NEVER FORGET

Never forget: The president of the United States claimed to have the coronavirus “totally under control” because it was only “one person coming in from China”; he said it would miraculously “disappear”; he compared it to the flu; he tried to prevent sick Americans on a cruise ship getting off and getting tested because he liked “the numbers being where they are”; and he called concerns over the spread of the virus a Democratic “hoax.” Donald Trump also held daily White House press briefings where he berated the press; told countless lies; denied any “responsibility at all” for the crisis; and pushed unproven and risky drugs as a possible treatment for the disease, adding: “What do you have to lose?” As thousands of Americans lost their lives to Covid-19, the president bragged about his TV ratings and his Facebook followers, while also taking Twitter potshots at Hillary Clinton over Benghazi and her emails.

Never forget: Members of this Trump administration suggested that the coronavirus was not just “contained,” but contained “pretty close to airtight.” They compared deaths from Covid-19 to deaths from smoking and opioids; they even fired a Navy captain for daring to sound the alarm about the spread of the virus aboard his aircraft carrier, and he later tested positive for the disease himself. The president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, declared live on national TV that the Strategic National Stockpile was “supposed to be our stockpile” and not for use by hard-hit states.

Never forget: Republican members of Congress took photos mocking the spread of Covid-19; went swimming in the Senate pool hours after being tested for the disease; insisted on shaking hands with reporters on Capitol Hill; and told their constituents that it was a “great time to just go out, go to a local restaurant” — in clear defiance of scientific advice on social distancing. As millions of Americans were laid off from their jobs, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell took a long weekend in order to hang out with his buddy, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, back home in Kentucky; the following week, he passed a stimulus bill that did more to help big corporations than ordinary Americans, and he then shut down the Senate for a long recess.

Never forget: GOP governors across the country refused to close beaches, refused to stop going out to crowded public places, and either refused to listen to the scientific advice on social distancing or pretended to be unaware of it. By the start of April, as the death toll mounted, eight governors in the U.S. had “decided against issuing statewide directives urging their residents to stay at home” — and all of them were Republicans.

Never forget: Fox News hosts fell over one another between January and March to dismiss or downplay the threat from the coronavirus, which one described as “yet another attempt to impeach the president”; another said the more they learned about it “the less there is to worry about”; while yet another announced that “it was the safest time to fly.” The biggest name on Fox News, Sean Hannity, not only compared the coronavirus to the seasonal flu, but he also suggested that it might be a “deep-state” plot against Trump while accusing Democrats of “weaponizing an infectious disease” to “bludgeon” the president.

Never forget: the dozens of other right-wing media personalities who misread a graph and claimed that the “coronavirus is LESS dangerous than the seasonal flu” for people under 60; who derided those warning about the dangers of the virus as a “doomsday cult”; who suggested that we might be “better off if we gave [the coronavirus] to everybody” in order to save the stock market; who wondered whether it “might be better off letting a few hundred thousand people die.” Glenn Beck, who once accused Barack Obama of trying to kill elderly patients with his “death panels,” insisted that older Americans should ignore the risk of infection and return to work because “even if we all get sick, I would rather die than kill the country.”

Never forget: the numerous far-right Christian evangelical pastors who tried to blame the coronavirus on everything from the “transgendering” of “little children” to “a world that has turned its back on God.” One of them was arrested in Florida, after defying local coronavirus restrictions and holding packed church services. Another claimed to have destroyed the virus by blowing “the wind of God” on it during a sermon.

Never forget what these ridiculous and reckless people on the right said and did, how dangerously and shamefully they behaved, as American jobs were lost in their millions and American lives were lost in their thousands. Never forget — and, most important of all, never listen to any of these people about anything ever again.

People die every day, from all sorts of causes. None of them cause people to panic and governments to order draconian measures. Grow the fuck up people.

I’m sure that was a joke, but just in case

People die every day, from all sorts of causes. None of them cause people to panic and governments to order draconian measures. Grow the fuck up people.

People die every day, yep and they are still dying. Covid-19 deaths are in addition to those deaths and in huge numbers putting all sorts of additional strain on healthcare and in the management of death. The draconian measures exist a) because coronavirus is highly contagious and b) because it has already stretched healthcare resources in many countries beyond breaking point. If you really do doubt the need for draconian measures, I suspect you speak to one or two people on the front line and as them if this is just ‘people die every day from all sorts of causes.’

States and hospitals left in the dark as federal government seizes their medical supplies without explanation

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times, the federal government is quietly seizing supply orders from states and hospitals, leaving medical providers across the country wondering where the supplies are and where they’re going.

“Hospital and clinic officials in seven states described the seizures in interviews over the past week,” writes the Times’ Noam Levy. “The Federal Emergency Management Agency is not publicly reporting the acquisitions, despite the outlay of millions of dollars of taxpayer money, nor has the administration detailed how it decides which supplies to seize and where to reroute them.”

Trump brags about ‘through the roof’ ratings for his press conferences as COVID-19 deaths surge past 13,000

President Donald Trump on Tuesday boasted about the television ratings that he’s been getting for his daily coronavirus press briefings at a time when deaths from the disease in the United States have surged past 13,000.

The president began his tweet by complaining that Democrats have been calling on networks to stop airing Trump’s press conferences live because of the multitude of documented lies and falsehoods he spouts.

He’ll get his real ratings in early November. :D

I'm going to play "The Real Racist Card!"

If you're interested in time travel why don't you explain to us why Trump was eager to embrace the murderous racists at Chancellorsville? Trump may be a racist moron but even he understands "Jews will not replace" and he was more than happy to embrace that movement.

You back from your ban racist bot? I see you're just as pathetic as ever.

People say, "Oh, people die every day." No, they do not. For example, no one did in the US from March 8th through March 24th. That's not unusual.

If people take care of themselves, drive safely, eat well, and get regular checkups no one has to die.

The government is now responsible for every death. You know there will be class action lawsuits filed probably before the end of this year.

“I think what we saw today is this deadly combination of traits by Trump in the middle of the worst crisis of the 21st century…. He’s incapable of relaying information accurately, number one, he sows confusion, he’s been indecisive as a leader, his delays, his incompetence, his ignorance has turned deadly.”

-former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt

Chancellorsville?

True. People do die from other causes.
Average daily death rate in the USA from:

Stroke 400
Cancer 1643

Current daily deaths from Covid19: 2000 (Not including people dying in care homes. Only hospital. Because people in care homes don't count obviously, they are a drain on the stock market.)

Do Trump supporters realize just how much of a threat Trump is to the American People?

Last month Trump asked his top health adviser last month why officials couldn’t simply let COVID-19 “wash over the country,” infecting people.

Do Trump supporters not know about such things, or do they simply not care?
