Midias is a beautiful, peaceful world that is ruled by magic and the sword. It has more races than can be named and they all live in peace because of one thing. The Council is a gathering of every ruler in the land who think things through for the common good of every being. They have ruled the world for many centuries and things have not changed except for now.

One of the rulers- one of the more just and peace loving suddenly changed the way that he looked at things and went into darkness. He studied dark magic and became powerful and corrupted. As he became corrupted so did his lands until they looked like a wasteland. It became a place where no mortal person wanted to set foot and the only things that could live there were the most foul evil things.

The Council tried to bring the good back out of Elias but it failed and several of them were killed. When he left the council heard that Elias was trying to tap into the power that would make him all powerful and they knew that they had to stop him.

Elias sat back and looked out of the window at the lands in front of him with a smile on his ruined features. He loved how this land had been changed because of what he had done and he did not want it changed back. He then remembed what the council had tried onto a few days ago and began laughing, it had been foolish of them to have tried as there was no good left in him anymore. Just then he began coughing and leaned forward, gripping the arm of his throne.

Elias took some deep gulps of air and tried to regain his strength but he knew that his body had taken too much punishment. He had destroyed it but in doing so he had gain almost immesurable power and that thought brought another smile to his face. He closed his eyes and concentrated- feeling his body gain its strength again.

Once he was strong enough Elias sat up straight just as the main doors opened and one of his minions walked in. The large lizard like creature walked quickly into the room, his eyes never leaving his king as his long whip like tail followed him. As soon as he was close enough the creature bowed before Elias.

"I am sssorry to intrude sssire but I heard a noissse and I wondered if you were alright."

Elias looked at the creature, "Have you found this person, the one that I seek yet?"

"No sssire. We cannot- we do not know what thisss perssson looksss like and that isss making thingsss hard for usss."

Elias suddenly got up out of his throne and looked at the creature, "Then no I am not alright! I want you to go and find this person now Kgelf or give me one reason why I should not destroy you where you stand!"

The creature, Kgelf looked at Elias but did not say a word before he turned and quickly left the room. As soon as he had Elias sat heavily back down on the throne and said, "You see why I have not found that which I most want. They will not succeed but I know that you will."

Just then a figure of a man that was made of shadow appeared from behind the throne and walked past it then slipped under the door.

As soon as the figure left Elias turned back to the window and hoped that someone would find this person soon.

Cloudsreach Castle, Brengaati

The mountain wind blew gently across the smooth marble of the balcony and then rose, flowing through Via's white locks. This mild wind was no distraction to a lifelong resident of Cloudsreach and Via continued to pluck ever so gently upon the strings of her harp, finishing her impromptu performance.

There was some gentle clapping from the members of the court that had assembled here on this sunlit spot. She curtsied, her eyes low to the ground and walked towards the edge of the balcony, looking at the city built around their mountain home.

"Your music was beautiful as always but it was less distant. As if you had put more of yourself within."

Via turned and faced her mother: that ageless, alien beauty and grace that made the Brengaati court amongst the most regal. The Van Saar line had always been well bred, the addition of an elven branch only made the tree all the more grand and fae.

"You have never asked of me a question to which you did not know the answer my mother. As always, your observation is an astute one."

"But it is not because you mourn the death of Duke Gothamene's son."

Via nodded, there was never any point in attempting to conceal her feelings when she was with her mother.

"His death in battle was unfortunate but I felt nothing for him. He was a stranger who died before we were wed. I'll shed no tears on his behalf."

"Why then, do you taint your music with sadness?"

Via's eyes lit up in grand curiosity, an actual question. The very first in as long as she could remember.

"Cloudsreach...It's so confining. I want to see beyond the horizon. Across the ocean or through the White Forest."

"And you may yet have a chance."

Mother and daughter turned and beheld their king. The two curtsied with the grace of the Fair Folk.

There is trouble on the horizon and with your would be husband slain and no suitors who meet my standards I fear for your continued safety. It may be best to hide you elsewhere.

As Kgelf walked away from the throne room his mood went from bad to worse. He asked himself how he was supposed to find this person when he did not know what this person was meant to look like. He moved into the courtyard and saw a legion of his troops walk through the gates.

As soon as he moved towards them he saw all the blood that covered their armor and knew that he had to find out what had happened. He waited until they were all in front of him and when the leader went down to one knee in front of him Kgelf asked, "What happened. You look asss though you have been in a battle."
The leader of the legion laughed, "It was no battle- it was a slaughter. A group of rangers tried to cross our border and we killed them to the last. They will not be coming back from where we sent them."

With a swift movement Kgelf whipped around, his tail encircling the leader. He picked him up off his feet and with a flick of his tail sent him flying through the air and smashing into a wall on the far side of the courtyard. He then looked at the rest of the legion.
"Nothing about thisss isss funny. Thisss issss very ssseriousss- do not take what isss going on in thisss world- what we, what our master wantsss to do lightly ever again or I will have no trouble in killing ssseveral of you again. Do you underssstand me."

He turned and walked away from the legion- not waiting for their answer.
