I posted about using this in the early days of the forum. The results then weren't always good. Since then, we have many wonderful poets posting. It's a good way to be introduced to poetry here if you don't regularly read the new poems. Poetry is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.

I second the motion.

It's easy to simply read the new poems page and forget about all of the previously posted pearls.

Another good suggestion is to click the author's link on poems and see what else they may have written.

It can be very interesting to "spend an evening" with a new (or old) poet and get to know them by rummaging through their collected works.

A spun poem. Interesting that I would pull up a Dom. I like that he dreams to be the rope that binds her. An interesting perspective. Would anyone like to spin a poem and comment on it?

Tighten A Knot
by Damon Knight ©
I dream
to be that
rope that
binds you

that secures
you for My
pleasure

to feel Myself
taut around
your ankles
your throat

to squeeze
with true
pressure
your breasts

and to know
that I have you
firmly held

with my strands
running around you
running through you
ensuring always
that your sorrows
are only ever
a tightened knot
away

keeping you

Mine

I dream this
and I am
content

Perhaps its just my luck, but when I spin, I have gotten some unusual poems to read. I no longer spin the poems.

I do however like that poem and will have to look it up.

A few months ago we had a spin-the-poem thread, and it was pretty cool. I remember we found a few gems. Maybe it's one of those traditions from the good old days we should bring back? I'll go look for that thread and bump it up.
